  1. I logged in after the rollback to see what was going on when the issue popped up in guild discord - found missing SAB glitched skins and various other things. Not recieved anything so far from Anet - and I log in every day, twice on the 11th. So I guess even this process is bugged.
  2. Grindy content is another matter altogether. Was under the impression this thread was about strike missions being included in the meta, making it less accessible than other metas. So I wouldnt say "every single person", I know of quite a few that dislike the requirement, mostly veterans of the game who have stuck around for many years and many thousands of hours, like myself.
  3. Doesn't sound like there are any negatives to giving strike missions their own section then. Raid types wont lose AP and already do strikes, people wanting to do strikes for AP will still get it, people not wanting to do strikes but wanting the meta will get it, and people not caring about the meta, don't care anyway and may still do strikes regardless. No one should lose out, except perhaps those that seem to want people to lose out.
  4. As I said in the other thread - Strikes should have their own section for the achievements, and have a non mandatory "complete this strike mission" achievement, as per the Drakkar fight in the meta.
  5. I think you'll find putting pressure on players to do content they aren't comfortable with, won't improve the chances of them doing it. Accessibility is a big part of game design, you'd be surprised at how many people don't want to do grouped instanced content for other reasons than percieved prejudice or lazyness, be it physical blocks, age, social blocks or discomfort. The fact alot of people manage to play an MMO with them at all is impressive. My point is a meta achievement for a story should have enough options to avoid that. The last set had a "complete the three strike missions" and no one was forced to do them in order to complete the meta.So far i've completed every story journal achievement going back to the start of S2 up til this episode, including having done all the strike missions, and never felt properly forced into something until now (except bitterfrost frontier where you had to complete all the achievements to get the meta, which was also bad design). Don't get me wrong, strike missions are a good idea in theory, especially when properly balanced as a route to raids, but never force players to do it, games are supposed to be fun for all and no one should be pressured into something just to populate that content. In my work i've had to change designs for solo play boss fights that would make 0 differences to the average player, but someone with colour blindness or reduced mobility couldn't do, and you tend to forget that what you can do easily without issue, is actually a real problem for some people. Content like this needs to be separated and given its own category, people will do it if the rewards are worthwhile (ie AP rewards, gold , skins... whatever, but those need tweaking too). These definitely aren't perfect, it's super rare to ever find something in game design that is.
  6. I saw the 12%, I've also not completed the story because at the moment I don't have the time to do so with work crunch, so i'm not sure how indictative that actually is of how active gw2 efficiency is... However i've done a few of the map achievements when I get the time. With the stress from work, I don't feel particularly enthused to engage strike missions, but they will become harder to complete later due to those people who already finished acheivements ignoring them due to poor rewards. This is the main issue with living world content, you feel the need to complete this content asap, in order to not stress as much later down the line. If these are designed to ease players into raids, then they should be in that category, not story. I never said they should remove strikes, or the challenges, or the achievements. Just move them so people can play the story ones casually, and people who want to get the additional AP can do so without it blocking something as simple as a story journal meta achievement. I also see no reason why you would have an issue with moving the achievements into their own category, as nothing you do or like would be affected, yet more casual/busy players would be able to complete the meta with more ease and less stress leading to a happier playerbase and less of these kinds of threads on the forum.
  7. Not all gw2 players are on gw2efficiency but, it tends to be used by the more serious achievement hunters and traders etc in the game. Seems a bit overtuned when less than a quarter of 1% have unlocked the meta achievement. Strike missions really deserve their own category as training raids.
  8. It's a good job none of those achievements were tied to the story meta achievement, based on those unlock %'s
  9. Based on accessibility needs, both physical and social (social being important in game design for MMO), story journal achievements should not force group content at all. The meta achievement should be doable by the lowest common denominator. As someone who has done CM fractals, raids etc, Boneskinner and Whisper are at least easy raid boss level, pug groups via direct portal access rarely if ever complete, and lfg struggle at first, moreso if people are focusing or concentrating on completing achievements and not doing their dps properly. GW2 has a higher proportion of older players with both less physical capability and time allowance to do these, so having something as basic as an episodes meta tied in to hard content that often requires organisation, doesn't make much sense. I get it, there are lots of players who want to try hard, and boast they got the shiver emote, I note even WP is a proponent of this now, but it is not representative of the majority of the playerbase. Either you have the difficulty dropped to the grothmar valley strike, or remove them from the meta achievement requirements. edit - should note that I've actually designed some raid style boss fights in another game and tied achievements to it, and alot of our feedback on them resulted in reduction of difficulty and reaction time needed for accessibility reasons, including making things easier to see for visually impaired people, however none of ours require groups or other players.
  10. Story - Seemed quite short, but decent dialogue and interesting.Map - decent design, no issues with the usual events/layout, not done drakkar yet. however - Achievements.Really not liking the direction these are going in episodic content. There have been a couple in previous episodes with issues, namely Constant Vigilance (where you have to save ALL survivors fighting the boneskinner, I completed this right at the start of last episode, where there was a large group of decent players. Have watched it fail most times since.Divide by Zero (where you need a coordinated group to kill all the final blobs) - had to organise a map with another person in order to even come close. These are not individual achievements, they require a large group or coordinated group to complete. Which can fail multiple times before you get it, and is reliant on other people to succeed, this is frustrating, especially as it adds an incentive to rush any and all achievements very early on in the episodes release in order to get enough people/experienced people to complete. Which brings me to this episode, where a large number of the achievements are tied up behind strike missions. I'm not quite sure what the purpose of strike missions is, but, if its a bridging mechanic between fractal difficulty and raids, most of these are on the raid boss side of the difficulty spectrum. As such, normally you will need to use lfg to get a decent group together, as my experience with walking through the portal for a random group has usually resulted in multiple fails and hours of wasted time as you watch players 11111 through. You have then added grindy achievements that in some cases again requires the group to coordinate in order to get, such as the torches achievement on the boneskinner strike, if other people aren't bothered, good luck getting that. To cap it all, you added them into the meta achievement, really they should be a separate category from the story journal, under strike missions. You separated the drakkar ones, fractals and raids, these would also be good candidates if we are going to get more challenge mode type achievements for these group only achievements. Very grindy, not particularly fun to get if you rely on having a group and increases the feeling you need to rush through the episode in order to get alot of these done.
  11. Broken here too - did all 4 this morning, they reset after the update, 4ap lost (again).
  12. [suggestion] - Divide by Zero achievement Grothmar Valley. Increase the last phase ooze circle timer a bit, this late past release, its nigh impossible getting a group that can actually kill all 3 before the circle explodes. and as an additional suggestion - perhaps don't make achievements that require large or coordinated groups to accomplish, as this gets extremely hard to do weeks after content is released and people move on to other things. It's not very personal achievement related if it requires 50 other players to obtain. Not very fair for those who cannot be around in the first few weeks of content dropping due to work, health or other reasons.
  13. Would be nice if the amount of spikes needed to close a portal scaled better with large groups - 3 maw events, 2 spikes planted due to vast numbers and super fast closing.
