  1. This kind of falls in to the part where I say that ArenaNet aren't some mystically wise group of sages as some people on the forums seem to think. They can have good intentions, and still make mistakes. Doing what you described is a mistake, as you also pointed out.
  2. Not really skipping. Just, push it back. Make story the lesser priority.
  3. They were writing cheques through Champions at the end of Icebrood Saga. That's McDonalds still being able to pay their employees with burgers made of goat fur. Anet can do it.
  4. End of Dragons represents, in the story of Guild Wars, the end of the Dragon Cycle which dominated the world from 1325 AE to 1335 AE. At the end, without spoiler, it's clear that Tyria is now looking ahead to a new future. Who knows where that could go? That's not what this thread is about though. No, it's about Anet, not Dragon's Watch. End of Dragons release is a great time for Anet to let the world's story settle. Yeah, I'm advocating for Anet to -not- get to work on Season 6. Not yet. This is an opportunity for Anet, without the demand of knowing where a story must end, at least main story anyway - Focus on -bugs-, and -features-, and -WvW-. Put the story aside. Start working on Feature Packs ala 2014. (Except for the New Player Experience, eww.) Bugs. It's been four years since I noticed that /kneeling makes my character walk on lean until I equip/unequip my helmet. Get DX11 support out of beta, pin down and work hard on class balancing, and for the love of the Lord on high, if WvW is a cornerstone, its time to corner that stone and give it a glow up. A new map, balancing, alliances, etc. Go to PvP, work on that. Game, game, game. Not story. The story will be fine without you for a time, ArenaNet, and we the players will be fine without living world - Especially if instead of that, we're getting an increased quality of life, new features, and new life breathed in to game modes. Give us a swimsuit outfit. Here's a ready response to some replies I'm expecting. No they should only do story. Go read a book. They can work on multiple things duh. Can they? Sure. Should they? Nah. ArenaNet is the one who knows what to do, not you. Firstly, just incorrect considering I'm literally the best player at this game. Secondly, while yes, ArenaNet has more information and stats than we ever will, they're still people. A group of people, and groups of people can lose their way, or make mistakes. They still haven't added a Swimsuit outfit and Southsun came out years ago. That's not some master plan of 4D Chess. That's just a team of people, whom, while doing their best, are making a mistake/doing something wrong. TLDR Season 6 can and should wait. Time to lift up the game itself in some spring cleaning. Get it on Steam, get the bugs worked out, get the balance going, get us our swimsuit outfit.
  5. Oh boy. End of Dragons. The Good, The Bad, The Ugly. No Swimsuits in an expansion focused on water oft times. But I actually am far more impressed with a lot of it than I expected it to be, though it definitely has flaws that should be addressed. I just want to address the specific point about 'Agendas' and 'Woke' in the story. There actually some parts I do agree seem a bit odd. Specifically the use of the term 'Fascist'. The reason I single out this term is because, it's especially jarring to hear it from either a Human character or a Charr character. It's weird to hear it from Canthans in general. You live in an Empire if you're Canthan, and you're still mired in bureaucracy that borders on the Minority Report. If you play a human, you're from a Monarchy. Yes, it has representative government in a limited form, but the concept of a ruler by divine right and a ruler by divine strength really have little distance between them. Queen Jennah is very much an unlikely fantasy one-off in the real world's history of mostly awful people ruling by birthright. Which is why the modern world has shifted away from such systems, or pushed them to the side as a tourist point like the Brits did to the Old Bird. If you're a Charr, you're a soldier from a military junta with a history of brutal conquest and in-fighting calling someone else a fascist. It feels very... Well, just odd. That said, themes about Imperialism aren't 'inserting an agenda' and have a long part of Guild Wars history. It's the specific terminology used that makes me scratch my head at times. The LGBT 'Agenda' theories though, I'm sorry, ridiculous. If Marjory had said 'Theo had a wife and child!' you wouldn't have been like 'well she should have just said family.' Also, the reason she specified is to put it through to Mai Trin exactly who she harmed through her actions. She wasn't trying to shout out 'the gays'. The end scene in Arborstone is the End of Dragons. The scene in DR is supposed to just be a relaxing scene among friends, where two people propose to each-other in a move that shocks no one. Why did they wait until after End of Dragons? Well because generally you'd like to see if the world is still going to be around before you get married. Just a thought. ArenaNet didn't make End of Dragons to subvert the American Way with radical Gay Jade Tech. It's about dragons, and I guess now, robots. Still no swimsuits. THAT is the real Agenda of ArenaNet. Give me a kittening swimsuit outfit.
  6. Tail popped with a minute left to go, and we may have had it too. Come on, Anet. I think having a drop rate, even if its like 10 percent of the turtle egg regardless of success/fail is a fair compromise, with a success being guaranteed. A Void infusion/Void Weapons for successful clears is also something I think no one would mind. It's just been said before, a key selling point was stuffed behind a meta. I'm not asking for an easy go of it, but why -not- a harder Strike/Raid form of Soo-Won with those rewards, and more rewards, so the open world meta can be for people to grab their turtle egg.
  7. I'll come back to this and be amazed at the ideas you guys come up with, big love to you guys. One day our swimsuits will come, and we will be in the promised land.
  8. The more we approach EoD and those skiffs, the more necessary swimsuits become, and they were already entirely necessary. I'm still sticking with the claim that this is the longest running swimsuit thread and I'm here for it. It'd be entirely uncool to lock it, considering more and more people continue to show support. 207 so far!
  9. The votes keep going up, I don't know what to tell you. In fact I think you're driving more yes votes. Also don't kinkshame me in my own thread. In all honesty, I have no idea what you're talking about. This is a thread, for swimsuits in a game. A game that already has them, and won't release them because <insert nonsensical idea here.> It's not about charr physiology, or other outfits, or starting outfits, or anything like that. It's swimsuits, I don't know what to tell you, go to a beach, you'll see 'em. As for why it's hard to find the 'no' option to the poll, I consider it akin to a poll like; 'Do you breathe in oxygen'. Do you really need a 'No' option? Anyone who votes 'No' to a poll like that is being a rascal.
  10. Yes and no. There are swimsuit models available for every race, and Anet did apparently plan to release them. Though thats fair for Kasmeer and Faren specifically. The idea that it adds nothing to the game is ridiculous (Not saying that against you, mind, saying it to anet if that is actually there thinking.) Half of the outfits that are absolutely ridiculous didn't add anything either. You raise good points, but they tend to be disproved by Anet's actions alone. Will we get swimsuits? We'll see. I like the fact this thread has been going strong for so long, and I believe is the longest running thread for swimsuits. (I'm basing that claim on absolutely no evidence, but I am the king of the thread so what I say goes.) I'd also like to dispel the idea that if Anet thinks its a waste of time, that must be true. It's their game, yes, and they made it one we all want to play. Doesn't mean I'm not grateful for that. They're also still just a group of people. Who can make mistakes. They've -made- mistakes. That's fine. If they don't think swimsuits are worth getting a few guys on, even after the expac rolls out? That's a little loony on their part.
  11. It's your short lifespan you're using to sit and stare at your screen my guy, but you do you. One time, we (my guild) hosted a large-scale RP-PvE event. We had a big group of roleplayers using Drizzlewood as our battlefield and rping in the meta itself. Most PvErs we ran in to? Actually kind of rolled with us. They didn't emote or anything, but they cheered/saluted all the while, charged with us in to battle. Then waved and bid farewell once the battle was over and the loot was gotten. Whoever those pvers were, you guys are kings. Don't be like Sarge, be a King, enjoy the game.
  12. I will say in regards t othis, that I'd also love havinga variety of options for swimwear. As we were originally supposed to on the old town clothes system, but I'm trying to work within the confines of anet's outfit system. We fight on, brother. Look at our army of beach goers. Assuming I did my math correctly; 197 people support swimsuits. 0 are against. The vote speaks for itself.
  13. While I'd never say no to dyeable underwear, I do think it misses the point of a proper Swimsuit outfit. Addressing the concerns about 'I don't want to see people fighting in swimwear', I get it. I don't like seeing people fight in magic girl outfits and particle effect nightmare outfits and neon leotards when I try and keep my character in proper looking armor for battle. However, I just deal with it because that's the way it is. So if I can do that, people can deal with seeing a norn in a speedo fighting the Ruinbringer.
  14. If this thread is merged, its merged. If not, we'll keep it going with banter and constant appeals to Anet's reason. I want Anet to make money, to then put in to the game. Swimsuits are a great way to do that. It's not even hard to do considering the models already exist. Go back to my original idea, of just using Faren's and Kasmeer's sets. So the lead outfit guy at Anet goes in to the office, goes to one of the model/clothing model peeps like 'Fabrizio, we need you to port the Faren and Kasmeer swimwear to all the races/genders, fiddle around with it a bit, get back to me. also we're having tacos for lunch.' We get swimsuits, Anet gets revenue, Fabrizio gets his paycheque. Also I forgot to address it last post, but for the people who say 'uhhhh op is the one who posts the most in this thread'. Yes? I made the thread. You ever go to someones house, the host lets you in and then they just go in to the garage and leave you in their house for three hours? uhhh i do that all the time jokes on you eat a cannoli and relax
  15. Hopefully some time soon! Especially as we near warm Canthan climes and beaches along Shing Jea Island and skiffs! It would be fantastic to see. I have also yet to read any reasonable response to why there shouldn't be outfits aside from various forms of of weird 'artistic visions' answers that don't make sense, 'I don't want it because other people want it' which, you know, okay. That, and 'they should work on other stuff!!' while they give us White Tiger / Swordsman outfits. Which I even dig the weaponmaster outfit, so not digging at it. Just clearly they have time for outfits too.
  16. Anyway there's still no viable reason that we don't have swimsuits in-game yet, and this weird idea that Anet staff team are these omni-potent beings and not just people is weird. Credit to them for what they do, and call them out when something is ridiculous. Like Icebrood Saga's ending and the lack of swimsuits. That's how you treat people you respect, you tell them when they can do better. Do better, Anet.
  17. There's no viable reason to not implement swimsuits. Anything related to 'their vision' is nebulous and disproven by the existence of swimsuits already. Which is a thing; they already exist. Anything related to 'skimpiness' is disproven by the female models of most light armors and outfits.
  18. This, though there is an odd-subset of like, I don't even think it's a Religious group, but Soccer Mom subset that seems to be at work. Does that apply here? Probably not. ArenaNet isn't perfect, but I def have to give them heck often because I love this company, but I feel like ANet hits every coffee table in the room. One thing they do right is inclusivity and supporting good causes like Pride/ExtraLife. To be on topic though, no, I think Anet doesn't have any moral quandaries with the concept of swimming attire. For multiple reasons. I don't -know- what the reason is, again. It'd make money, easy to do. I don't know. Again, when I come at ArenaNet, it's because I love both this game, and love the company, but when you like something, you criticize it. If this was Blizzard, I'd never complain. Why? Because I'd expect nothing less than absolute dog poop from Blizzard. No shockers there. ArenaNet can, and should be expected, to do better.
  19. Love it. I've always said though, baseline for me though is Kasmeer's swimsuit for females, and Faren's for males. I want my boys speedo'd up and my girls bikini time.
  20. I tried. I really tried, but between getting hit once for 'thread bumping' (though I'm not sure how to make this a sustained petition), my RL and the constant downers, I just got tired of it too. It's a shame too, because this still is absolutely a thing Anet; Can do. Would benefit from doing.
  21. My Gunsworn Thoughts: 1: Give the pistol 5 ability some friggin range. It's a pistol, not a melee weapon, and the 4 ability has more range and it -is- melee. At least 900 like the gunsaber ability. 2. No reason that the Bladesworn should lose Weapon Swap. Its not something ever forced on Necromancers for their Shrouds which are arguably even more powerful. 3. Let us friggin sheathe the gunsaber when we have it equipped, just a small quality of life thing considering we actually get sword scabbards. 4. Long shot, but why are you skimping out on -all- the specs in terms of no dual handing? No mainhand pistol for Warrior? Off-hand dagger for Mesmer? like, man.
  22. I actually don't see a big downside to this idea. Obviously let people play GW1 on the computer if they want to, but mobile would be a neat idea, and the only arguments I can (at least personally) see against it are just, people being weirdly stuck up about mobile gaming.
  23. I've yet to seeany outcry about seeing 50 people with fairy wings beating on the Shatterer. 😤That said, I mean, the hope never dies that we'll get something beach appropriate. You know at this point, I wouldn't even mind being told by a Dev that its not gonna happen, but I'd want to know -why-. And if their reasons are any of those already trotted out, it's ridiculous.
  24. This all sounds like a You problem, not a Me problem. This thread isn't about dueling or whatever the frick you're talking about. It's about Anet adding swimsuits. To a vendor, gemstore, it's not that complicated. My favorite part of this thread, beyond the lovely support for something that would be entirely nice to have, is the weirdos coming out of the woods to protest something so inconsequential to their game time. The only slightly valid reason is 'hey I'd prefer X to come out first'. That's totally understandable. Maybe a different sort of outfit is your taste, I hear you. The rest of the excuses are friggin bland. Also, gimmegimmegimme. (Like that isn't what most forum threads are.)
  25. This sounds abut right. On top of that, clipping is like... It's just a part of outfits and equipment in this game, depending on the piece and your character's race. 'It clips' isn't a good reason to deny swimsuits. Also the fact is, after enjoying some Festival time, going to the 'change tent' and turning in to underwear - There's no way Anet is 'against swimsuits'. Should it just be a gemstore outfit? Yes. Make money, Anet.
