  1. I agree with with everything here. I'd also love to see GW3 be more like GW1 in terms of atmosphere and story. Definitely less modern speech, jokes everywhere, and politics involved. Let's focus on telling a good story which has a meaning and depth. Would also love a vast open world to explore with a lot of secrets and with some amazing immersion. Less NPC talk across map etc.
  2. It's an annoying issue that persists across most maps, sadly. When in Core Tyria the music just plays from that zone whether you change the zone or not -- and it will play until the end. Somehow they fixed that in EoD, but not the old world.
  3. I love your post ❤️ While I do love GW2 a lot, GW1 will always -always- hold a special place in my heart. When you grow up in a game like GW1 that kind of feeling will hardly ever go away. It was, quite literally, the best time of my life. I suppose I may need a break from GW2 in general, after crafting Vision I might just be on a burnout mode and the GW3 news just kind of enhanced that feeling to the point I just can't even login to do anything now. I'll just wait for new expansion news and hope that rekindles my desire to play and have fun!
  4. I do feel that OP and you're not the only one. While I'll casually play GW2 and get expansions, I feel I don't want to really sink too much of my time in it now and I'd rather focus on other games until there's a strong confirmation about things one way or another. I lost GW1 and it struck me heavily because GW2 didn't deliver what I was expecting. I can't go back to GW1 because game is just old and lacks updates and refreshment. I fear it's just going to be the same with GW2 unless GW3 really delivers. Still, just the very news of it being potentially in development has soured my desire to keep getting legendaries and I'd rather spare myself that now -- even if it takes 10 years for GW3 to develop, I somehow catch myself with 'what's the point?'. At the moment I'm just focusing on other games and investing in them until I hear more things about this and/or GW2 expansion (which I will buy and just casually play).
  5. They have neither confirmed nor denied anything -- it is a very generic answer, as you said and at this point I don't think they want to confirm it given GW2 still has some expansions to roll with. "As an active game studio we are always doing internal exploratory work for possible future titles we’d want to create, however we have nothing to confirm right now" The quote stated their main focus is on more GW2 expansions, but it's either I can't read or understand well because I don't see anywhere they denied GW3 being in early stages of development. I'm either misreading or badly understanding it so correct me in case I'm wrong. Yup, my main and harshest criticism is towards GW2 storytelling and writing. I feel everything GW1 did right got butchered in GW2 😕
  6. A friend sent me an update regarding Guild Wars 3. Official response from ANet? https://www.mmorpg.com/news/guild-wars-3-confirmed-to-be-in-development-though-it-seems-its-still-in-its-early-stages-updated-2000130976 Quote from there: After the news of GW3 I have almost 0 drive to dedicate and try hard in Guild Wars 2. I know I'll buy expansions to play them for story and new zones, but I think that's about it. If GW3 is being developed, that means that the resources and attention will shift there and focus on it, giving small content to GW2 until that entirely stops too. We also know that ANet was hiring for some unnanounced project? So GW3 could very well be in active development and it's now just a matter of time until we hear official reveal and concept. My only hope is that GW3 will take a more serious approach and take itself seriously compared to the silliness GW2 added, ruining all the depth and atmosphere that way and turning majority of the characters and world into a joke. T_T
  7. I cannot get over Guild Wars 1 and I don't think I ever will. It was my first MMORPG and with no monthly subs it was the right game for me. Everything about it was magical and I grew up in that game. I was 12 when I started playing and nothing will ever -ever- replace GW1 for me. I was so excited about GW2 because I thought it would just be better GW1. I expected a beautiful expanded world, the serious vibe and atmosphere of GW1, basically just how it was advertised : 'GW2 takes everything you love about GW1' -- in this case though, it took everything we loved about GW1 away from us. Becoming a universe much different to the one we saw in GW1. Characters, vibe, etc...it all became a joke and stopped taking itself seriously. I love GW2, but it's a much different game to the one I grew up with and I know I shouldn't compare the two games because they're day and night and GW2 is definitely more modern in terms of gameplay. But the moment GW2 was announced that's when all that GW1 magic stopped. We all moved to GW2 knowing GW1 will just remain as a nostalgic memory for so many of us. Even if it's still up and running, there's very little point in continuing to play GW1. Now it's an old game, it needs expanding and updating -- but it won't be getting that because of GW2. The only way GW3 will make me happy, is if they actually stick to the GW1 style of storytelling and start taking the characters and story seriously. GW2, imo, lacks the depth and immersion. Nayos was supposed to mimic Realm of Torment, but instead of just... yeah. Shallow version of it, sadly.
  8. Not very happy about it. As someone who grew up in Guild Wars 1 and lived and breathed in that game, the existance of GW2 killed my desire to keep playing GW1 given we all moved to GW2. I love GW2, of course, but I love GW1 more 😞 I fear it's going to be the same with GW3. Those who are now loving GW2 and putting so much time and effort into it are going to stop doing it and just lose desire to play the game knowing there's something new looming over that will get all the support. EDIT: If GW3 came with a more serious tone and vibe, better graphics and overall more grounded tone...it would have my attention. But right now I'm not too excited about it, I guess we'll have to wait and see.
  9. And this here is exactly the reason why I dislike posting on forums. People refuse to look from a different perspective and -realize- that it is a GAME that should be FUN and not a JOB. Legendaries are -convenience- on top of beautiful cosmetics. I am not good with PvP, I likely drag other people down. I don't like roaming in WvW because others just trample me and get me unless I team up with a comm and join the zerg, which I personally dislike because it's zerg vs zerg and snoozy. I'm also taking both sides into play here. PvPers and WvWers likely dislike PvEing as well, so they shouldn't be pushed to map completion to get Gift of Exploration if they don't want to. Let them obtain it through WvW/PvP. And the 'you don't have to do it' is just a ridiculous statement. Of course people want legendaries and it was ridiculous to remove that medal vendor who sold Gift of Battle to begin with. RN we have a huge legendary skip through Wizard's Vault as mentioned, and people are fine with it, but you mention Gift of Battle and everyone loses their mind cause 'You MUST WvW if you WANT a legendary otherwise you are unworthy!'. This is 2nd time I get Gift of Battle ever since medal vendor got removed and need I say, it wasn't fun at all and it makes me nauseous whenever I think of Gift of Battle xD EDIT: FYI even jumping puzzles are something you can easily and quickly finish with a helpful mesmer. Meanwhile you gotta spend 10 hours doing WvW to get gift of battle. 10/10
  10. Same problem here. It made me freak out thinking I got hacked ahhhh. EDIT: Password reset helped solve it.
  11. Best solution would be to place Gift of Battle in Wizard's Vault and perhaps Gift of Exploration as well.
  12. Honestly, they should allow -all- gifts to be obtainable through any game mode. WvWers and PvPers should be able to craft legendaries without ever having to set foot in PvE if t hey don't want to. Same goes for PvE players. I don't like pvp, I don't like wvw. I should be able to create Gift of Battle through other means than having to pvp/wvw. I finished crafting Vision just a few days ago and had to finish the WvW track for Gift of Battle. I mean it was ok, it was fun to re-visit WvW again but then I got bored of it really quick and was just waiting for those pips/ticks to fill up so I could finally get my Gift. I just don't like it and I hate being forced into it as a PvE player. I imagine WvWers and PvPers are fed-up of having to do world exploration etc to get the Gift of Exploration too. Imo, Gift of Exploration should be obtainable through those other means too. Just my two cents here. Let players choose how they want to play.
  13. Here's my Phantom of the Opera character! Drake Swanlake Upclose Rose Staff
  14. Agree with all options you gave OP! Also I'd soooo so so so love a horse skin for jackal ahhhh! I want to ride a magnificent black horse on my human noble. Another thing which I'd absolutely love is Kuunavang/Saltspray dragon skin for Skyscale. I also know it's not really possible but...I would absolutely adore wyvern models for skyscales q.q
  15. I would love if we could choose the lines we say. I understand it would cost more, but it would definitely help us choose our 'personality' and the way we respond to certain situation. And each of the offered choices could be tied to the charisma, ferocity, dignity etc. My character is based around dignity as he's a noble coming from Divinity's Reach, so naturally I'd want him to respond wisely and with some majestic and dignified vibe. Instead most of the lines he says are...bland and ugh... well. Yeah. Part of it comes from the voice too. Nothing against the male human VA but it really fits the vibe of a scoundrel instead. Human male VA was amazing as Prince of Persia and fits that vibe 100% even when I play my thief in GW2. But it's -definitely- the wrong voice for my noble who is based around Phantom of the Opera. Which is why, as OP said, maybe removing the voice from commander and offering us choices through responses would be best?
  16. I think SotO vibe is in a good spot. It definitely holds more seriousness than previous storytelling and it holds that darker tone which I appreciate. That said, it's lacking something and it does feel like it's either being rushed or there's just ... something missing, I am not sure what. Characters are a lot more mature etc, there's no cringy humour which I appreciate as well, but something something...I don't know what's missing ahhh. I'm really hoping for some epic twist by the end of it though! Not gonna lie, though, I am not a fan of the original SotO maps. I do like Nayos, but feel that NPC chatter/comm device is overdone beyond imagination. Definitely need to tone down on the NPC chatter through events and comm device.
  17. Haven't completed the new story yet, but one thing that really gets me in the new zone is CONSTANT NPC chatter! Every event has some NPC talking to you through comm device, or whispering to you etc. I really want to feel immersed, but with this constantly ticking off it's near impossible. I'm loving the realm and second part of the map though! Definitely a better vibe and tone with storytelling compared to EoD. EDIT: Finished the story in this release; SPOILERS:
  18. So so so much this ❤️
  19. Thank you for your response Bobby! There's definitely a visible change in vibe when it comes to story in SotO and I really like that tone more compared to previous releases! New characters speak in a more serious and adult manner which is quite appreciated! However, was expecting the demon realm to be scarier and less crowded with dialogue and NPCs spamming us through comm devices, especially during events. I think toning down on that would really help with the immersion and vibe generally. (Was hoping for some Realm of Torment vibes and some parts of the zone do give off that feel!) Definitely don't want GW2 to be a horror game, but just to give us that sense of danger sometimes. The tone was 👌in "All or Nothing", I think that episode will forever be my favorite. Looking forward to see what you guys cook for us in future releases!
  20. Edit: The thread is merged! Be nice if the overall chatter through comm device was lowered/removed entirely. I find myself enjoying the area and suddenly BOOM, NPCs talking constantly through it to either announce meta or talk to me through a normal event even (which is the case in newest area), and it really ruins immersion and peace for me. And not just that, the chat bubble is insanely huge when they talk to you, so it obscures quite a bit of what's 'ahead' of you which is also annoying. It's a good thing to have in game, but it's starting to become a bit annoying now as it feels over-used. And the sound through comm device is not something you want to listen to often. I understand it's a good indication to warn us about incoming meta, but I guess there are other ways to do it without interrupting us from what we are doing. EoD started with it, then it transferred over to SotO too which I am not a fan of. I love to afk in Echovald and just enjoy the ambience and music, but that gets so ruined when meta starts T_T Maybe an option to turn off comm device or meta chatter?
  21. I'm finding it really funny how people keep thinking I'm against GW2 here, whereas I'm hoping story will get better by toning down on humor which is present 95% of time in game. Alas, this is the last post from me here as it's pointless to keep repeating myself like a parrot :') GW2 is my main MMORPG and I'm enjoying it greatly. I -love- the game. I just hope story starts to take itself seriously. I do feel people need to re-read my posts again. Oh well, guess you can't provide ciritism these days.
  22. Trusting a corsair and not having a means to leave the cell? Yep. But as I said, it's just ONE example out of many and the 'it's heavy' is ONE thing that annoyed me there. I don't think I need to keep explaining myself.
  23. I am well aware of what the mission is about XD It was supposed to be a serious moment when the commander gets caught and what to expect in the prison and if the plan will even work. "It's very heavy" being repeated 2x really felt out of place and it's just ONE example out of many where needles humor is being put. I don't see the point of this comment though? I mean if you are fine with humor constantly being there that's all right -- you are entitled to your opinion and so am I to mine, I don't like it being constantly put everywhere.
  24. Let's keep it friendly here and not insult one another. People are allowed to have an opinion and that's fine. Others love Marvel, some don't. I personally don't because it's not the kind of movies I enjoy and that's fine. Those who love it, enjoy it! However, I just don't like the over-usage of humor in GW2. I'm saying this because I love the game and I'd like to see the story get better! Not worse! Personally just feel they need to tone down on humor and add more depth/darkness to the story without destroying the immersion with comm devices and adding humor into everything. I'm using Icebrood Saga as an example and it had a GOOD dark tone. Looking at Bjora Marches that zone was AMAZING. A big shame the story was rushed. Comparing GW1 storytelling to GW2 yes. And it's not to flame GW2. On the contrary, I'd like GW2 to be BETTER storywise than GW1. Sadly, to me, it is not because it -lacks- that serious tone. And YES GW1 had silly moments, but main questline/story wasn't filled with needles humor, game was taking itself seriously which you can tell. It had a good dark vibe which kept you immersed. It is an old game now, I had the time of my life playing it, I grew up with it and I am having a great time playing GW2. I want GW2 to be better, I want it to take itself seriously in terms of lore and story and give us more weight and depth without over-using the humor. That is -all- there is to it. People are misinterpreting what I said and think like I'm hating on GW2 which is not true. The fact that I am writing here means I deeply care for the game and just want it to get better. Story is a huge part of the game for me, so yes I deeply care about it. EDIT: Once more, humor is fine -- as long as it is not over-used. Light-hearted fun is fine. I am not saying -remove- this from the game/story, I am saying tone it down in main story for the sake of taking it more seriously and actually caring about it. Remember that mission where you as a commander get captured and taken to the Sunspear Great Hall? You stand there before the gate in shackles, uncertain what to expect, and there's this random person carrying that crate 'It's so heavy' 'Ahhh it's heavy, can we hurry up???' -- and this is what gets me. It's a serious moment and you have these random lines ruining it. I was rolling my eyes there.
