Problem is not just June 27th balance preview
Hashberry.4510 replied to flyingplanet.6912's topic in Professions
The old team had the right idea, finish up with S4, hit maint mode, and work on a new game. It has just been trashed since.- 14 replies

anet is on a good direction.

Not really interested in new stuff from this team. Looking at all thats been squandered, maintenance mode would be a better choice.- 82 replies

No doubt we thrash around with these twisted specs for the rest of the game.

I have had these for years, forgot how nice they look. A shame the culture wars came for them.- 60 replies

It feels like we need a legendary piscator to tumble out of the mists and sort out the farrago of squalls, waterspouts, doldrums and sea turtles in which we have been so balefully ensnared. Oh yeah we totally need some lurker below action (non group pls) to randomly enhance the whole kitten thing. So much potential its a shame a scavenger hunt was good enough. Holy crap! Drop an invisible fishing pole! (Well honest idea here fighting the unwelcome mobs could buff your stack duration and intensity, bring on the skiff combat, plus 10 stacks and/or 5 min combat immunity for swamping a few npcs with a water balloon).

Scaled up content gets really bad, its a shame how zerging became the thing when the scaling creates absurd fights. Two to five person open world bosses are a lot of fun but rarely encountered in the popular fights. This experience, even, is mostly gone now, 2 peeps are power creeped enough to trivialize any normally scaled fight. Things are mushy.

A stacking moa debuff could be loads of fun, the more folks take it the longer you are moa’d if you placed it. I can see a competition on both sides here.

Balancing for Equality vs Balancing for Equity
Hashberry.4510 replied to Helgaley.3619's topic in Professions
I dunno it looks like Anet is throwing out some features that made the combat fascinating just to accommodate this myth that balance can fix how groups form. Its a pipe dream and this is where mmos eventually decline. -

The right pvp server is a lot of fun, enhanced sense of danger w/ just a few ganks here and there. Those servers are rare and don’t stay that way long. -
I enjoy a power druid in OW, leveraging the stun and immobilize talents and glyphs along with the marks talents. Easy farming a map.

Supreme Rune of Holding Feedback

I have some guildies that obsess over these prices. Lord the chat is full of trade wars when something shuffles things up. Keeps them out of trouble anyhow.🙃 -
Well the game was complex and difficult to keep an old fart like me engaged for 10 years. It likely took me 5 years to master the combat system enough to make HoT styles zones a fun challenge. Thats a hell of a fun deal, it felt like the games success revolved around being a technical puzzle to sort out. I know it always lacked for folks at your level, Cyn, but it gave me what I needed for a while and I guess I will have to be happy with that. Small team Instance combat hmmm, I recall when it was a lot a fun but that is not for me anymore. If anything, I dislike tying this combat system down so group combat is somehow workable, we really lost a lot there.

Balancing for Equality vs Balancing for Equity
Hashberry.4510 replied to Helgaley.3619's topic in Professions
The devs can’t balance out the human issue’s involved in who chooses to play together. None of this crap matters, in RL you need heavy structure and referees, here we just wing it on the playground. -
Thanks for the late April fools joke ANet...

Story Skip after completing for alts

I rarely do the story more than once, if at all. Lots of ways to get around. I have 30ish alts. -
Why are there so many balances in this game? (serious question)
Hashberry.4510 replied to Vic.8249's topic in Professions
Its a wildly sensitive combat system, yielding varying experience across the player base. The balance they wish for isn’t really achievable over everyones skill set, but they keep trying. -
Tying down the combat system so group combat is somehow bearable has simply choked a load of potential.
