  1. Same problem about twelve hours ago. I bailed out once, thinking that going back to Amnytas might solve... no luck. Second time around, I played blind. Finally managed to finish it, with Peitha reviving me multiple times.
  2. Have been unable to get past the initial encounter with Taimi after going around and collecting emotions. She does her speech and tells me to take Scruffy out for a spin. I can see the star and Scruffy right next to her, but cannot interact with either. I've quit the chapter and restarted... same result.
  3. I've also noticed it, mostly on the Krait structures in old Tyria (Timberline Falls and Mount Maelstrom). At first it was funny watching them tilt from side to side while they ran up the spars. It did get a little annoying after a while. Thanks for looking into it.
  4. I can only speak for my personal experience. I have been playing since launch but my wife recently decided to try the game out. She played Wow (including raids and heroic dungeons) for over ten years. She found the GW2 starting experience good although parts seemed complicated to her. The combat felt about right for her. As she adjusted, we moved to higher level zones and other content that has kept her engaged. As an observation, I do a lot of mapping with new characters and I am okay with the open world stuff.
  5. No, it does not. There is a WvW skill... I think it is in the Provisioner line... that allows WvW autoloot..
  6. I've played games that use this kind of system. No thanks.
  7. I believe it is the nature of the temporary pass, I have permanent passes on two accounts and log out all the time there... and am not booted. I got a two-week pass on one of my other accounts and it indeed will boot me if I log out there.
  8. I tried WoW Classic... lasted about three weeks. It was a great nostalgia trip but got really, really grindy very fast. I loved GW2 when it launched. I have enjoyed its evolution. I am very happy with it now. In a world of unlimited resources, I wouldn't care one way or the other about a GW2 Classic version. But if it consumed resources that could better be spent on the current game, then I'd lean against it.
  9. I enjoy a variety of different activities and also enjoy repeating things like the personal story and the LW stories. I am constantly moving from one activity to another... and just go wherever I want depending on my mood. Thus far, I don't have a problem staying engaged (been playing since the pre-launch beta). An interesting (at least to me) note is that I have left other games... and that has invariably occurred when I found the game and its entirety more frustrating than enjoyable. That hasn't happened with GW2.
  10. I do a lot of different things at different times. In game, I go with things I enjoy. If I tire of them, I move to something else. I am having fun. When I stop having fun, I'll stop playing.
  11. The concept, for me, is in the context that I rarely, if ever, enjoy content the first time through. I am not a great player so, the ability to enjoy it comes only when I do it multiple times and begin to understand mechanics and find my comfort level. With that in mind... first, there must be a reason to do it (other than... it's just fun). The rewards must justify the effort. Second, the mechanics should "make sense." For me. That means that there must be clues that I can discern that indicate a need to do something in particular, whether it's a voice-over clue... something on the ground or in the air, or some animation by a boss. I should be able to see and learn how to react. In other words, I am not crazy about random crap that happens where the outcome depends more on luck. Finally, for me, there must be some organizational flow. Example... Dragon Stand meta. I like it because it has a definite. process. It has a clear beginning and progresses logically through until the end. I am more apt to do "repayable content" if it involves more than a single encounter. I enjoy the metas for that reason. I do not enjoy content that basically has me beating my head against a wall repeatedly... or, content where I eventually complete but have no idea how I did it.
  12. As others have said;, the "feeding" is separate from the treats. The feeding is time-based. The treats can all be given at once. Also, the "system" will not let you over-feed. You lose the ability to give more food after the four pieces. It comes back when the time cap is reached.
  13. Mostly utility items (primers, XP buffs, perpetual gathering tools, etc.) and vanity items (glider skins, selected mount skins, maybe a weapon skin or two). When they are on sale, I might pick up a few character slots or bag slots. I've maxed out my bank tabs and shared slots. Otherwise, I just keep an eye out for new things.
  14. In general, I do metas when I need something from them. I typically enjoy them, so it's not like I'm forced to do something I don't like doing. But I wouldn't do them for enjoyment alone. There is always something I want or need, whether it be map currency, a particular achievement, or a Amal gemstone.
  15. Nothing against the offering by Arenanet. I just don't care for capes.
  16. I have over thirty characters and I use build/equipment slots on three of them. One is for WvW versus open world PVE. Another one alternates between a pure power build/equipment and one with more survivability. The final toggles between a open world PVE ranger and and healing druid. Otherwise, I don't tend to change builds or equipment that often.
  17. As a PVE mostly player, I actually like having to drop into WvW to get specific things I want, such as GoB or the WvW mount. I love the flexibility to move between different parts of the game... adds variety and flavor to the experience. Since I am mostly casual, I am not up to date on all the WvW or PvP issues. I just play and have a good time. Just my nickel's worth.
  18. I am a mostly PVE player but do a fair amount of WvW ... well, to be more honest, mostly EotM. I enjoy it because we have a regular commander who is excellent and a guild that is supportive. There is plenty of instruction and no shaming or condemnation when things don't go well. We have a pretty steady group that does it on a daily basis. And, here's the thing, it is something I truly look forward to every day. I've done a small amount of EBG and Borderlands. When I manage to get into a squad with a really good commander, it is great fun. But, it seems more hit and miss on these maps.
  19. No, it is not. Learn the mechanics, don't stand in his damage. There is enough time to evade or step in between damage fields. Use Rytlock's sword, Sohothin. All it takes is awareness of your surroundings and a bit of practice. P.S. This can be done with any profession, it doesn't matter which you play. If you feel like you can't handle it, get help - the mission allows more than one player. P.P.S. If you are talking about the previous fight against Balthazar, not the final one: you are supposed to get killed in that one ;) after you brought him down to 25% health (I think it was). This is a good point. In my response, I was assuming the final fight against him. But Ashantara is right. If this is the first fight, then you are supposed to die.
  20. There are some mechanics that can help you. First, there are shield domes that appear periodically. Get into them when they come. You can still fight but will be protected for the most part. When not shielded, keep moving. There are also some times when the boss goes invulnerable and you have to break the crystals that shield him (I don't recall exactly what they're called). Make sure that you take them down. Finally, you will be prompted to help Aurene break his invulnerability at several points. You have to stand in the right spot and use your special ability to do that. Other than those things, just keep hitting him when you can and eventually he dies. Also, you may find that using Sohathen (Sp?) works well for you. I used it with my ranger but, when I did it with my necro, I used the profession abilities. Hope this helps. Hopefully, some others will have advice as well.
  21. I didn't care when Kass and Jory became a thing. I don't care now. I don't play this game for a window on romance.
  22. For me... PVE... it has to do with rewards. The best way I can explain it is by example. A few years back, we had the Caledbolg reborn thing. The process took me to various parts of the world to do different things. I knew at the end of the process I would have an ascended weapon of my choice... and the ability to get skins for the others. I like things like this... where the rewards seem consistent with the effort. Granted, this is highly subjective, because different people like different things. What I do not particularly enjoy is getting a bag full of assorted greens, blues, and yellows that I can salvage and sell on the TP so that I can buy some other mats to craft something I might want. There is nothing at all exciting to me about getting a bunch of useless gear that I need to salvage. So, short answer—I'd like fun, challenging activities with rewards that mean something in and of themselves.
