its atleast meta in pvp now 😅

      Is not.

0 Revs in EU finals at MAT last month and not a single hammer Rev in the whole EU tournament. Just due one streamer plays it at ranked amongst the 600 players left in NA doesn't mean that will use it at this week MAT.

  2.    None, the arsenal has already plenty of useless weapons with skills which no one have used in years and the latest additions have been not only underwhelming but also full of copy & paste animations from other professions (plus, most of weapon roles had also been filled). So, to the question "what kind of weapon you want we stole the animations from" my answer is "better waste time in something else since I don't care about new weapons, as I didn't care about the SotO weapons".

  3.    I would say Ele. Is not easy to play and isn't amongst my favs but credit must be given: has some of the tankiest build iterations and can be strong in both 1 v 1 and teamgfights. Catalyst seems stronger than Weaver while being easier to play and Tempest has great support choices. As much as I like Guardian I don't thing is that great since its best PvP iteration is support core, which has the mobility of a potato compared to the current standards. People can talk much about Willbender at WvW and how it solved the mobility issues of the class, but you barely see any at MATs, and in PvE in order to deliver you need to deal a very high amount of key imputs x minute, making it stressful to play...

Is this a late april fools joke or something? Vindi is not a good DPS? Power Vindi benches over Condi Virt and thanks to how Vindi works they don't have to spend much time out of melee.

Did the new CM Strike looked like an Aprils Fool joke to you? If we are talking about instanced content, yes the Vindicator does roughly the same dps as a Virtuoso, at mele range against a piñata. If the target moves or has mechanics that require you to go away to stay alive then the dps can't compare since one keeps delivering huge amounts of damage at range while dealing with mechanics whereas the other one stops doing dps. And that's why if a fight is hard choosing Vindi won't happen. If fact didn't happen in 9 days of top teams grinding the strike with 10 character slot available, not single Vindi was used.

If we are talking about open world then I think that any (power) choice besides Ranger (SB/U), Reaper or Bladesworn is a bad one since those have both damage and sustain, whereas the Vindicator lacks the later. Virtu isn't also that great there since is mainly good at single targets.

So far the only new weapons with a degree of success are War's staff, Ranger's maces and Mesmer's rifle. Engie's short bow worked well against all ods in the EU MAT, tho.

And that they fix scepter too, many gave good feedback they should use

There's nothing to fix in the scepter. I mean, the scepter is not a good weapon and Rev is not a good healer the same as Vindi is not a good dps, so why even try? Instead they should try to fix the lame base weapons because ouside the trident there's PLENTY of things going off in them. And to be fair, I don't care too much about it (the class if functional enough for me to play it at the game modes I enjoy), but honestly the 2/3 of the new SotO weapons are a total waste of time, entirely unneeded paste of recycled past animations and stolen effects. I don't want "new" weapons using old skills from professions I don't play...

There was a much bigger nerf on the Black Lion Mastery Coffers, which you could originally vendor for 1G, but now are only worth 20s.

I noticed that too. I stoped purchasing them entirely.

The thing is that, of course, people will always go to the best reward/time and path of least resistance. So nerfing is pointless since for the player the goal was always having good things in exchange for time and for the developers the goal was to have people engaged. Once you start to nerf things at some point people will just stop engaging. So the decission was bad.ç

Another rant/example: one of the pillars of SotO was delivering new weapons (albeit for me as Rev main the appeal was mostly having free access to short bow); they just delivered the new weapons a few weeks ago and turns out most of them are bad and on top on that they are already being nerfed. So how much I enjoyed the Rev's new scepter?...

...I fooled around with it for 30 minutes, then I spent 160 hours in Last Epoch.

it's unfortunate but i say it was never really worth buying those to begin with... new players have up to 500g worth of other options, old players have better things to do for gold than invest 10+ minutes on getting 2 gold. Even in my best-case scenario of 7 minutes for my sPvP dailies, it isn't worth it.

Even if you're new you probably complete the main purchases in6 to 8 weeks. After that buying those bags was the main spending; the change represents ~6.2 gold coins less a week, going from 43.3 to 37.1 .Its a shame not only due the loss itself but because what means for the future...

I would like it to be any of these classes

    • Revenant

I have played a lot Guardian and Thief like them but I see they bored me. I won't play as Elementalist or Ranger.

Any class can do the task but some are easier or have more room for mistakes. My choice would be celestial Vindicator because is easy to play and foes (HP/regular Champs/Tyria Bounties/Desert Bounties/Legendary Bounties... ) usually can't even scratch you HP.

  9.   Last week a large patch arrived and Vindicator's Imperial Impact got nerfed.

Some people eagerly claimed how it would destroy the OW PvE celestial build with 0 test to suport those statements, including Teapot (which loves to mock poeple every time nerfs arrives), and Nike DNT which made  a Herald OW PvE video portraying a guide for the same Herald build Hizen showcased 6 months ago (only with different sigils) in which said "The last patch killed the most solo OP open world build which has ever existed, the celestial Vindicator, while we are forced to say RIP to the greatest of all time there's no need to despair tho since the gear would be transfereable to the second best the original OW got tier Herald which is now better than ever". He also said "The changes of Imperial Impact more or less kills the build for solo environment since no longer has perananet uptime for every boon besides alacrity".

While the Herald is certainly in good form and a challenger for the top place that spec didn't get affected by the balance at all so nothing changed (albeit He's comparing it to his previous build and not the one from Hizen). Is not better, at most is the same, and in my opinion the nerf to Imperial Impact barely affected the performance of the PvE cele Vindicator which is not only a powerhouse but probably still the top dog. I expressed that Vindi gameplay didn't changed at all, and the loss of some seconds of boons won't affect it too much, since its main card is the tankyness, not the damage, and Vindi still has better cleanses, mobility and evades than Herald, while Herald has only a bit more damage and better cc. His time with Herald against the Mordrem Vinetooth was 47" while mine with Vindi was 55" so ~20% slower but that comparing a good player with rotations and food and ofensive sigils vs a mediocre players with defensive sigils and cheapo meals; I guessed than at equal skill damage difference would be lower than 10% and Vindi survability would be way better. Then I was called dismal and cele Vindi a shadow of its former self.

Last days I've played a bit the dismal cele Vindicator, a shadow of the former self. Pretty much levels all PvE content as before, including Hero Points, Tyria Bounties, and now I'm doing PoF/S4 bounties/legendary bounties with no problem (I'll upload more videos from desert bounties in the future). Meanwhile, Hizen did release a video reviewing the patch changes stating that cele Vindi remains prety much the same gigachad. So, recaping: patch arrives, people make some statements without fundations, I make allegations, provide evidence, they go radio silent/refuse to deal with it. That's called dogmatism; staying in your lines, because you've already have formed an opinion and won't change it just because doesn't fit with the reality.

Jalis/Alliance is pretty much the best open world set for Vindicators. It's just packed with all you need to survive, especially Jalis' hammers and stability road allow you to face tank many encounters.

That maybe for power stats, but cele Vindi with Mallyx + Alliance and short bow + mace & axe is probably by far the strongest OW PvE solo build in the game (even after the nerfs). Second best cooice probably the same build with Herald.

Power builds for PvE are nice for grpups of players or for trashing easy mobs, but as soon as you face challenging mosnters as some HP and bounties you'll notice the difference: outside power Soulbeast/Untamed and power Bladesworn or maybe Reaper I don't think that power builds are very good (and even those they have handicaps), since armor in enemies absorbs lots of damage and those builds don't do damage when they are cced. Condi/hybrid builds have longer ramp up and lower overall dps but deal with hard fights much better.

Is a bit sad because power Vindi with greatsword + swords is my fav PvE build in the game but power at solo is nowhere near to condi builds in terms of self sustain and tankyness.

It could complement bunker/bruiser builds but getting any use out of it is tedious.

Is a support weapon in a game in which their developers don't want tank builds (pvp) and which will never be competitive against other support healers (Druids, Scourges, Mechanists.. ) at PvE. A pure exertion of futility. And from the artistic point of view, while I appreciate the efforts of ANet of breaking archetypes developing mele weapons which hit at range (as Mesmer's greatsword or Rev's Hammer) there's a point at which all that originality just becomes silly (and oftenly useless). Would be a condition mele longbow our next kitten?

I crafted Metheorologicus knowing that Rev's scepter would probably suck, but I did it because thanx to the Wizzard Vault the whole cost was like 250 gold coins and my Guardians could make some use of that weapon. But I have 0 hype about new weapons or specs, since I think the game is already bloated of dull weapons, useless traits and specs no one touches.

Why I would want a new power ranged weapon when hammer was good at some time in the past? Why I would want new dps weapons when swords and greatsword used to be decent at that? Aside from a second condi mele set (or maybe a cc focused weapon) Rev already has every square covered; is just that most of the weapons are in a mediocre state. Whe don't new new mediocre ones to fill no role and deliver no joy.

I entirely agree with the previous coment of "people trying to get blood from stones" thing: 2 or 3 of the last weapons are good, the rest are trash and seeing creators trying to force them into functional builds is both hilarious and sad. Is such a shame that ANet releases all those beauty gem skins as the new shield but even if I would want to support the game purchasing it wouldn't make sense since in 3 Revenants and 14 gear templates I don't have a single build fro my main class which uses a shield, at all...

We already know they plan to introduce every weapon to all the classes eventually.

Do they? Warrior is already very close to complete the whole arsenal years before most of the other professions... They already have 17.

  13. ^ Maybe that's why ANet would need to add new weapons to the game: now that most of them are lame and useless the developer can cash money selling a good power ranged weapon or a good mele weapon.

The thing is that we already have two whole swaps of power mele weapons (swords, greatsword), two swaps of support weapons (staff, scepter and shield) two ranged weapons (hammer, short bow) and a single swap of condi weapons (mace + axe albeit shortbow works perfectly as alternative condi weapon). So what's left? A second mele condi set? A new hybrid or power ranged weapon? I think that anything would be mostly redundant, as long as the current options were good.

As I said, Rev will never compete for a dps place against a Virtuso, nor as support as a Druid or Scourge; in contrast, a Virtuoso will never be a great choice for solo OW PvE. I don't want a new weapon just because the ones I have sucks at their role. ALSO: people which designed the first Herald weapons and the short bow are out of the company; the greatsword is a copypaste from skills from other professions, and the scepter is a perfect kitten. How in the hell could I be hyped about prospect of this team designed new weapons? I don't. Just use your assets and resources to add homing, or new WvW/PvP maps or game modes, or to add horses... I think that after EoD and SotO's weapon mastery everything they could add in terms of specs and weapons is already done, and any addition will only make the game worse. I mean: there's traitlines in which you can select no traits and you barely feel any difference... If they end allowing "legend mastery" I think that 2 ot the 3 spec traitlines would just cease to exist... Because no one wants Renegade or Vindi due their traits.

But they are stripping instead of giving and shoving Vindi more into DPS.

...Aaaand is not even that, since Vindi damage was nerfed in the last two patches despite being a pure mele which does ahlf of the damage (or even 0) if has to be at range. The latest CM Strike already proved this, with Virtuoso filling ALL the dps places due not only has higher dps, but since can deal damage and move and do mechanics without the damage going downwards.

Anyways, those are suggestions that are in favor of giving the elite the possibility of having options and not be so limited around it's current iteration because it's literally just power creep of over anything else Revenant/Herald or Renegade has to offer which is why it's SO boring to play and constantly gutted.

I'm not prone to think that your intentions are honest since you never liked Herald, ignored Renegade and hated Vindi except when was a sitting duck with a single evade after which its only function was to die. "Options" is a deceiving concept since there's only place for a support class or two in PvP (and Vindi will never compete vs Guardians or Druids at that) and currently Vindi isn't even that good at teamfights or damage, so mobility is its only real card. And Herald/Rene aren't bad PER SE, but because ANet deliberately chose to brick both.

This was me last night after the patch; very mediocre damage (rarely reach 400k) and arguably badly played but still somewaht impactful thanks to the mobility:

No Energy Meld button was harmed during the recording.

  16.  Of course nothing:

    * In the first vertical pillar of traits you have a couple of viable options (the bottom trait is very weak).

    * In the second vertical row Energy Meld is required to get any effect, so for most of Vindicator players those traits have no use.

    * In the last vertical line of traits the bottom one doesn't heal or give barrier and the one in the middle doesn't provide buffs so with power builds (PvP/WvW) you just run Forerunner of Death for the tiny increase in damage which is better than nothing.

In contrast, beta Vindicator got heal and barriers, boon sharing or a significative damage burst based on the traits of their choice. Current traitline of Vindicator is meaningless...  But Vindi is still better since The Alliance is strong whereas the other legends move between mediocre and garbage.

My guess is since the model for the new "expanions" for GW2 is to deliver the least amount of things to save the most amount of money in production costs the main "novelty" for the 5th expansion will be "now all the utilities are shared between specs", which in Revenant terms will mean that "now you can run any legend with any cor/spec build". A M A Z I N G , I swear!

That would mean that the abrassive homogeneization across all professions will be mostly done; in the case of Revenant you'll probably run the (stronger) Glint traitline (since both Renegade and Vindicator are now very close to be useless) but with The Alliance as main legend. And that would end the class since no one wants alacrity Renegade and Herald has both quickness, the strong traitline and could wield gs + sb so no other thing would be required.

In my case I couldn't care less since no way I'll move to Herald....  But even that is too much since I'm already 105 h into PE and pushing... I'll keep playing Vindi or not playing the game at all.

  17. WoW has much worse gameplay mechanics and control, but it doesn't require to go down to the gameplay since WoW loses much sooner than that:

    * Despite the population size, WoW PvPqueues oftenly exceeds 15 minutes, whereas GW2 rarely reaches more than 2-4 minutes. I would unisntall any game which takes longer than 5 minutes just to start to play...

    * GW2 has homogenized stats with plain field and equal level for everyone, WoW doesn't.

So yes, WG2 PvP is leagues ahead, but doesn't matter much since we are just arguing about which corpse has rotten the most... Dead game modes.

  18.   To me Elementalist felt in  the "middle group" in terms of esyness at leveling: delivers good damage and AoE + decent cc and has very good mobility, at the expense of being frail (can be circunvented with health stats). But I played dagger dagger, not staff. On the other hand, Thief is esasily bottom tier at leveling, since while is as brittle in terms of HP as the Ele most of its damage has low cleave and has less access to AoE and cc. The main difference to me was that Ele had great access to burns, which is the burstiest condi in the game, so you can land your big burst, retreat and see most of things to die in seconds.
