  1. Sarcastic thread ignoring large-scale pvp, which happens despite suggestions otherwise. Zergs do attack other zergs, not just objectives, and zerg fights are often far less "brainless" than the roamers would like everyone to believe.
  2. You cannot compare alliances prepping for the change with the way things will shake out when the entire framework changes. Alliances in a server-based world are not remotely the same thing as alliances in a non-server, more balanced world will be. You cannot point at anything that is happening today and say that it proves the new framework will not work. I 100% support the change and my opinion is just as valid as yours. Alliances are the direction I want wvw to go. Scrapping current servers is the only way to fix this population issue outside of forcibly moving people from server to server. As long as people can choose to remain on unbalanced, stacked servers that comprise entire worlds, the imbalance will remain. The only way I'd favor keeping servers is if people on overpopulated servers are forced to relocate to establish a balance among all worlds. Otherwise, the servers must go.
  3. As of September 23, this is still an issue. Just did it with someone else for the 2nd time (and I tried it solo 5 times), and only one time out of those attempts did it not bug. Twice I've gotten dc'd immediately after her speech (same moment both times, which can't be a coincidence, esp since my partner got a d/c at the same moment), the other times it just halted with no "Show Mercy" option no matter how long I stood around and waited for it. My partner still cannot even complete the story for this episode because of this bug.
  4. Same issue, except no d/c. Priestess is sitting in the center, 5%, green, makes one comment, then stands there doing nothing. Text still instructs you to "Defeat the Priestess" but there is nothing happening, it just stalled. We finally just left the instance in frustration after several minutes of waiting.
  5. They have already said that preferred language will be a factor in grouping players onto worlds.
  6. While this has nothing to do with the thread, I'd prefer those who are in WvW just for easy dailies be able to get those quickly and leave. The more time-consuming you make those dailies, the longer people will take up a spot that might be better used by someone wanting to do serious wvw. Last time I checked, this thread was about a rework to WvW and as far as I know, the veteran creatures are part of this game mode.Negative. This thread is explicitly about the world restructure system to address population imbalances. It has nothing to do with other aspects of wvw. Not going to derail with further replies on unrelated wvw topics.

  8. I don't know about Kain, but I'd be shocked if the massive SoR bandwagon that took a link server and skyrocketed it to the top of Tier 1 isn't significantly larger than a single alliance can hold. If one single 500-man alliance (one-fifth of a world) can dominate the entire state of NA wvw, then we have far too many worlds for the number of people playing.
  9. Oh, this is a great idea. Let's unlink servers (thereby drastically exacerbating the already-problematic world balance issue) and then on top of that throw in a tournament that will only serve to make the problem even worse as people rapidly bandwagon to the few top servers. This is precisely the opposite of what needs to happen. All these "solutions" looking for ways to keep current servers intact are avoiding the issue -- the very existence of permanent entire-world populations is what is at the very root of the population imbalance now that makes the game uncompetitive in the first place. The large servers must be broken up. You cannot keep 2500 people in a permanent world and expect any kind of competitive environment for all wvw'ers. Some talk about how they will quit if they cannot continue to play with all 2499 of their current friends (lol, I bet you don't really know 5% of your current server-mates to any extent beyond seeing their name in chat every so often). Yet there are tons of the rest of us who put the competitiveness of the game mode above having to be on the same team as "that guy that tagged up once when I was home sick". Yes, there will be some guilds/alliances that try to stack with hardcore players. Guess what -- there are lots of guilds that already do this. And just as there are also guilds that do not reject the non-elites, there will be alliances that do not reject the non-elites. The cries of "casuals will have no place" are patently false. Casuals will have plenty of options. The people who seem most concerned are the ones who insist on being part of an elite guild/alliance but who feel that they are too "casual" to be accepted. Isn't that the very definition of wanting to be carried? If a hardcore wvw guild/alliance doesn't want you because you're "not good enough", why would you want to be in their guild except to be carried? Unless you are part of a 50-man guild where the other 49 are hardcore and you alone are not (which means they are already carrying you), then you will have other casual friends at your level who will ally with you. The extreme "sky is falling" histrionics about servers being broken up and how the game mode will die if this goes through just really leave me smh.
  10. Agree 100%. Stealth in this game is implemented terribly and should be removed, with thieves given extra dodges (oops, they already have that) or mobility (hmm, they have that too) to compensate. Ok, no compensation needed. Also the one and only warrior reveal utility is not useful in any realistic build, so warrior basically has no practical reveal either. Someone complaining about something that has being okay for 6 years? It has never been okay. That statement has no relevance to the point. Even the least mobile thief build has enough stealth and mobility to be unkillable if played with even a modicum of skill. Don't make me laugh. No class can match a thief for mobility, and some can't come remotely close. There are very few builds a thief can't escape from at any point they choose to do so. Thieves/stealth classes are the most impossible for a spellbreaker to kill, so yes, that makes perfect sense. Telling someone that the solution to a broken mechanic is to play another class is admitting that there is a problem.
  11. Are you saying that a thief in stealth gets revealed when they do damage, or that if you hit an opponent in stealth they become revealed? Because the latter is not true. They're both true actually. You spam Auto Attack and when you chain starts to cycle through, you know you're hitting them. Simple trick that has been used since game release, does it not work anymore or something or are people asking for an even easier way to deal with it?That isn't remotely the same thing as revealed, and it has no use if your autoattack has 120 range and they're already 600 away and moving in a direction you can't see.

  13. nonsense, I'm hearing talk from more than one alliance and they are far more interested in playing with friends and fun people than they are in excluding the non-elites. I'm sure those will exist, but I have yet to run into any alliance talking about "skill entry requirements" or anything along those lines. There will be plenty of alliances for more casual players. It is definitely not nonsense. The people I play with on the 1-2 days I do go into WvW play with a lot of other hardcore WvW players - and among their existing guilds, they definitely number at least 500 players (not all play at once or are even very active, but they will not want to be left out). Me - and the 20 or so other members of my guild that only go into WvW a few days a week - would have to take the place of some of those hardcore players in order to be in their alliance. And their alliance would be the only one we are interested in. We have been playing with some of those people - in our casual way - for YEARS now. And I know that isn't a unique case. It is the obvious (to players if not to devs) problem we are going to run into if this system goes live. Alliances and WVW guilds will have to make some very tough decisions among their groups of friends. Call it nonsense all you want. You obviously aren't in a situation where this will be a factor, and for that, I am glad - but others will be. Anet needs to do better than this.If you're going to restrict yourself to getting into a particular hard-core guild as a casual player, then you are creating your own problem. You're asking anet to stop doing something that will improve the game for many people for the sake of a minority who refuse to look for other casual players to ally with. There will be plenty of non-elitist, non-hardcore alliances out there for you. Stamping your feet and insisting that you must play with only these particular players is a very narrow viewpoint. You were new to the game once, you didn't know any of those people. You met them and became friends with them. Don't lock yourself into thinking you can only play with people you've met in the past few years. Meeting new people is how you picked up those existing friendships in the first place.
