  1. I'm not one to come to the forums and post about balancing and all that but time to add my voice to the chorus of PLEASE INCREASE SHADE DURATION. Scourge right now is not fun to play. I'm glad Sand Sage is getting buffed so we don't have to maintain 3 shades to do full damage. I'll never say no to buffs. But buffs do not fix the issue. Having to drop a shade every 8 seconds makes the spec feel spammy. Reducing the CDs on the torch skills will only amplify that feeling. It feels like we might be forced to use pistols just on the grounds we'll never have enough down time to let the scepter 1-chain complete. I'm glad the spec got alacrity even if it came to the cost of the rezing capabilities. But tying it to barrier can be frustrating. Imagine knowing some damage is coming up so you want to save your barriers skills. If you press too soon, the barrier falls off and there's no damage mitigation. But you have to maintain that alac uptime. You are forced to choose between your two jobs. Seems very counter productive. Feels worse because other specs can do both independently but at the same time. I'm not a dev. I don't know the solution either problem. Maybe I'll get used to this change. But right now... I'm not having fun.
  2. Can we get the title of this thread changed to reflect that this bug is effecting more than just Verdant Brink? It's not just Verdant Brink so merging all the reports of other events not working is just going to make it so people come here and only see the VB thread and start their own. This bug is affecting, as far as I know, everything that runs on a scheduled time. From HoT's metas to Dragonstorm to Leyline Anomalies to vanilla world bosses. I didn't try it but someone near the Dragonstorm npc said they tried a private squad and Ryland got stuck in the green unattackable state before the fight is supposed to begin.
  3. The text shows two requirements before you can purchase the items. You got the mastery but it also requires you to unlock the collection in which these items belong to. In the Auric Focus Shielding case you have to open the Machined Focus Collection. 4. Yep. Same problem as the rest of you. I was scanning the hot spots. My map's meta failed as I scanned the last one. Gorrik started talking when the map reset. So now I have the previous objective complete but never got the next step. I tried leaving the map, starting and resuming the story. Nothing seems to work. If you start another chapter and then go back to the new one, you will lose and progress and have to start from the start of the new chapter. Not a great solution but it's better than being locked out completely.
  5. Really? ...Wow. I am out of the loop for meta stuff. BUT still... Renegade has the tools needed to be a condi spec while Herald does not. Good luck with this venture, OP.
  6. To answer your question in one word; outperformance. Just looking at the traits of Herald there is no support for condi damage at all. Herald itself only offers one new source of condi application in the form of Elemental Burst. As far as I know... Viper Herald isn't a thing either. Now looking at Renegade, the ideal alac spec still uses diviner's gear. It's a power based spec. Condi Alac Ren is possible but you have to choose traits to boost condi damage at the cost of traits the help the party. Condi Ren, Alac or not, also gives you ways to apply condis that Herald just can't compete with; Citadel Bombardment, shortbow and Razorclaw's rage. Even with these tools, Power Alac Ren does better. I'm not theorycrafter so maybe there is something I'm missing. Nor am I going to tell you how to play. If you are set on this path, you'll have to do some experimenting. Find the best runes and sigils. Find the best rotation to squeeze as much torment from Embrace the Darkness as you can before switching back to Glint for quickness application. Hit the golems. Compare your dps to a Diviner Herald. Just be mindful of your performance. If you are raiding or doing CMs... you don't want to hold a group back. Don't be surprised if people call you out if your damage is much lower than a Diviner Quick herald.
  7. From what I recall... Anet's stance has been "One button press, one action." But that is usually on the topic of multiboxing. Macros for music seem to be tolerated but not official approved. What you're asking affects combat though. It seems minor and might be allowed... But it's anyone's guess at this point.
  8. There very well could of been intent at one point to let us up there in an uninstanced version early on. You can see similar at the Grove where Ventari's Tablet and the Pale Tree's avatar are. Normally you enter the instance to get up there, but a skyscale lets you fly up there instead. There are npcs you can talk to. One of them really dislikes you for some reason but they don't appear in the story at all.
  9. Posting here again because it has been a week since this bug started. As of today, the problem is *worse* than it has been for me. I cannot switch characters ONCE without this bug kicking into effect..
  10. This is happening to me too. When I boot the client up, everything is fine and running smoothly. But once I switch characters a few times then surfaces and assets refuse to load in. I've waited about fifteen minutes to see if they would but nope. Standing still does nothing. Going to a new map does nothing. Returning to the character selection screen will still show the UI but the screen is otherwise black; the characters and background don't load in. Sometimes I can switch characters two or three times before this starts to happen. Otherwise it's on the first switch.
  11. I almost want to call myself a returning player but I'm not. I never left. I just looked up one day and realized my guild was never coming back. So if I'm to keep playing this game that I love so very much, it's time to find a new guild. About me:Despite buying GW2 within the months of its release, I've been playing the game nearly constantly since the content drought between LS2 and HoT. Occasional breaks when a new game comes out but who's counting? I'm a casual player who favors PvE, meta events and special events. Fractals and dungeons are fun. While I can and do enjoy the occasional raid, I no longer have the time or energy to commit to a static. I also enjoy RP a lot and have too many characters to make any read sit through. GW2 has a lore that sets my imagination on fire and I just adore the setting, races and characters. What I'm looking for:I'm looking for a small to medium and casual guild that focuses on PvE and/or RP. I have nothing against PvP or WvW. I just do not enjoy either on a regular enough basis to make the most of a guild that focuses on these things. While a guild does not have to be made for LGBT, it absolutely must be LGBT friendly. I have been too many guilds that are straight up toxic or just let very offensive jokes slide because "it's just a joke." I'd like a guild that is active mainly in the evenings and nights EST, and the weekends. An active Discord is nice too. I look forward to hearing from my potential new guild master/officer/member!
  12. This bug, at least for the Sylvari, has been in game ever since they added the idle dialogue back in August 2017. I'm not sure if it has been acknowledged by ANet at all or not.
  13. Throwing my name in the hat along with everyone else it's affecting. I don't mean to sound rude to the OP but just dealing with what the bug gives us is not a work around. It's just dealing with the bug. It seems like a minor thing and is probably low priority for ANet. Revenant already has restrictions when it comes to utilities. That's fine. I accept that limitation as part of the profession. But to not even be able to put the utility to the slot that works best for me is down right frustrating.
