  1. Ick. Guess I'll wait a few days until this is fixed. I've probably wasted almost an hour of time already. This particular chapter takes a long time, and then this.
  2. Has anyone solved this one? I tried using the jackal to get a barrier, but it still wipes me out.
  3. @Healix.5819 Thanks so much. This worked. Strange that GW2 support doesn't know about this.
  4. Apparently you have failed to understand the situation. He cannot continue the story from EoD, as it requires HoT content which he has not played.
  5. My friend ended up in a situation where he chose an option in the 'What Lies Within" story line (EoD) that led him to HoT territory, and he has not played any HoT at all (though he has purchased it). This segue into HoT requires an exalted mastery in order to gain access to the inner chamber in Auric Basin. The game does not allow any method to restart a chapter in the story that is currently in progress. Apparently GW2 support also does not have the ability to reset a story chapter. Can your systems people write a tool that will either reset a story chapter or mark it somehow so it restarts at the beginning of the chapter? This would allow GW2 support to help out in extreme circumstances such as this one.
  6. I think there are two situations where a map will be marked as closing. a) The server needs to be rebooted, or the map is bugged and needs to be shut down. In this case, a hard time limit would be fine. The communication with the players on the map should indicate that this is a forced map shutdown, and they must leave. b) The map population has gone down, and there's no good reason to keep the map open any more. This should be dynamic. If the map population goes back up, the map should not be closed. The other problem I see is that when a map is closed, and I accept the "move me now", I get kicked to another map which is closing, and again, and again. When a player is moved from a closing map, the player should be moved to the map with the highest population, never another map that is closing. Likewise, when a player enters a map, the player should not be placed into a closing map (the game does this to me quite often). Again, place the player in a map with a high population.
  7. When attacking a wolf, the Air Elemental will damage the first wolf. The wolf will use the "Howl" skill and summons a second wolf. After the first wolf has died, the Air Elemental's animation appears to attack the summoned wolf, but no damage is done to the summoned wolf.
  8. From what I can tell, the drop rate for poultry meat has been drastically reduced. Just running around killing a bunch of moas and raptors over half an hour, I got two slabs of poultry meat. I'm not sure that the raptors even drop poultry meat any more. A slab of poultry meat is going for 3.5 silvers in the trading post. Considering how many chef recipes depend on it, I expect the price will go up further.
  9. I no longer seem to get slabs of poultry meat as a drop from killing raptors, nor from the Crimson Moas I just tried. Anyone else having this issue?
  10. 2023-7-8: Still bugged. Today, I have been joining squads attempting to do the dragon's end meta. Despite having close to 50 people on the map, the map pops up warning messages about low population, and closes the map despite having a current high population. This is definitely broken and needs a fix soonest.
  11. Purchasing a laptop cooler has helped tremendously. It's a bit noisy, but that's ok. After playing a long time, I get ~60 fps with the GPU running about 78C. And this is with very decent graphics settings. In the middle of a big event, it was getting 27-33 fps, which is fine. Much better than 9 fps.
  12. Interesting. The Dell G7 is set up correctly. The Intel is used for the laptop screen, but will switch to the Nvidia automatically if needed -- I never had to force gw2 to use the Nvidia. The Nvidia is used for the external connections. And the Nvidia control panel can force programs to use one or the other. The game runs fine on the laptop display. Same issues with the GPU throttling the speed as the heat goes up. The Dell G7 series definitely needs bigger fans. It's sort of a lightweight gaming laptop. The GPU speed throttling can be determined as the culprit, as the FPS is very good (75+) when the game starts, and then later the FPS goes down a bit, then down even further when the computer gets quite warm. @draconicrose was definitely on the right track. The GPU speed throttling can be quite problematic, as the graphics settings might be set high, and when the GPU is throttled, those high-end graphics settings are no longer appropriate. If you have a GPU that is throttling, the in-game graphics settings can be lowered so that (a) the GPU doesn't heat up quite so fast, and (b) will be more appropriate when the FPS does go down. I vacuumed out the vents on the laptop, and I have ordered a laptop cooling pad. We'll see how that works out when it arrives.
  13. @SoftFootpaws : An interesting concept. Pushing everything to max simply gets my FPS down to 11 or so. I have plenty of memory. I know how to avoid bloat. Discord is only about 300Mb. With GW2, task manager, discord running, there's about 9+G of 16G memory in use. CPU runs around 25%. The GPU's 3D operations are maxed out. I did find the cpu frequency setting, and I'll try that out later in a more realistic test. Right now I'm just running about Arborstone. Starting with best performance, I can change a few settings and I can get almost 20fps. There's still something definitely weird in GW2. Sometimes when I start up, I get excellent frame rates for a short while, other times when I start up, it's back down to 20 FPS. Yesterday, during some testing, just running about Echovalds, it remained at 45-50 fps for quite a while. That was really unusual. Sign on today, and back down to 20 FPS. I'll have to test again late at night and see what happens.
  14. @Crini, thanks for the input. I now have it set to Best Performance, then textures to high, best texture filtering on, character model limit to low, character model quality to medium, high-res character textures. There's a strange thing that happens. I exited the game for several minutes, went back in, and the FPS was around 70+, after running around Arborstone for a bit, it has dropped down to the high thirties. (Earlier today, with higher graphics settings, in the middle of an event, it was getting 9 fps). I am thinking that @draconicrose is correct. There is something limiting the graphics speed when the card gets warm. But I don't know if there's anything I can change. I already set GW2 to "prefer maximum performance" in the nvidia control panel.
