  1. The balance team should have involve 3rd party to at least suggest balance changes, there are numerous people streaming this game, I am not sure where would it hurt them to ask out their experience/suggestions about certain classes and builds, not saying to implement everything everyone says but somewhat consider changing things, I doubt any streamer has that much bias as CmC with Ele or whoever with Guardian With a simple math we can sort of figure out if all 9 classes have 3 elite specs with atleast two builds it's (9*3*2) 54 builds they would need to kinda balance not including core builds, and what the balance teams has is 8 or how many people who I doubt are anywhere even close to G1 in terms of skill/knowledge about PvP The game has a lot of potential, but surely it's going to waste if the balance team does not start to listen to the community...Which as you can guess, it probably going to happen since the whole game will collapse sooner than the balance team acknowledging that they are incapable of holding a fair balance with their knowledge
  2. Well, the funny thing is that I have the same against chronos, when I go as a full glass chrono/mirage when I doing dailies and don't want to switch from Mes to something else for one PvP I have quite an easy time dealing with bunker chrono, the glass chrono/mirage burst is just too much for them But yes, I also understand what you mean, the supporting aspect of Chrono should get nerfed, it got overtuned a bit because all the self-sustain it has, is actually a 5 man heal/boon so yea, I think it will get nerfed anyway since a lot of ppl agree that sometimes it just provides too much Well, in my opinion this whole bunker meta is bad for the game, in the last months I am getting more and more games where neither of the teams are getting to 500 points, since people are just fighting on point for 12 mins without anyone going down, part of the reason I think I will skip the next season, this bunker meta kitten is getting annoying after almost a year or two now, it's just boring to fight as a bunker against another bunker because I do not even care if I make mistakes since I can outheal it anyway Yesterday I even had and encounter against a druid and me on some meme bunker reaper that we were fighting for 7-8 minutes on a neutral point, neither of us got any help from anyone since mid was 3v3 24/7, and far was also this same kind of matchup with a warrior and I think half support - half condi willbender fighting where that node was neutral for the whole duration of the game Rather sad to see that PvP that was once requiring skills went into this, where you can do whatever, if you play the better class you win for 90% of the time and skill counts really low in terms of who wins and loses certain matchups, like, you can just play deadeye and pew pew people from 1.5k range, and braindead builds like this
  3. I mean, it depends how you look at it, if something, let that be a build or class that has unlimited kiting potential because it has the tools to do so in a sense that you have resistance against cripple and chill plus swiftness allowing you to kite more easily, also most of your skills are AoE meaning that you can poke people from the other side of a wall or something, isn't that sustain to some degree since you are basically locking people away from yourself while you still doing damage and with doing damage healing yourself while the enemy is forced to follow you I'm not saying warrior is really really broken or something because it isn't, just the warrior toolkit itself is a bit overtuned now with staff and has too much potential for winning a 1vX even if that means to survive until you get someone else to your side making it a 2vX As for the chrono issue, I agree that riffle chrono is a bit overtuned too, but I have also seen warriors holding node in 1v3 but I guess this just comes down to teamcomps and skill levels With chrono the thing is that you don't really have much room to do damage, bunker chrono is most likely Insp/Chaos which would make it better as a condi build(with the amulet for condi+heal+power+vitality? not sure) but riffle does not apply any damaging conditions, so even if you can't kill it, it can't kill you easily either while this isn't the case for warrior since it's sustain is coming from mostly traits and not weapons like in chrono's case so a warrior is free to take any(or most) weapon and do damage from weapon skills and not required to camp one specific weapon for the sustain
  4. The problem isn't F1 damage, could be also a problem, but I think the main thing about the current state of Warrior is that you are just too free in a sense that you are hard to lock down, you are hard to apply condition to, and you have too much movement allowing you to kite basically without restrictions due to the fact that you have almost permanent swiftness and resistance combined with condition cleanses and passive heals and if all this wouldn't have been enough of a problem now you even have a support centric weapon that just makes you more tanky As I see it in my recent matches, warriors are not even trying to kill you, they just run around the point freely trying to kite as much as they can, basically forcing the enemy team to chase it with 2-3 people, while their own team is capping and outnumbering every possible point, and even if you don't chase the warrior, it will keep you on point since it has unlimited sustain until their team comes and outnumbers you I understand that warrior is a duelist class, but there should be limits to duelists too, it shouldn't work in a way that if you are a duelist you are basically free to do anything on the map since you won't get punished for anything because you can just leave any fight you don't feel like fighting and the enemy team can't stop you from doing so since you just go into Rampage and walk away, and all this without much of a skill requirement since most of the sustain is coming from traits without needing any planning or anything
  5. Again, you are looking at one thing only, in this case the daze, you are not counting the fact that yes, the druid daze is just melee but the druid itself is more tanky, output more condies and more soft CC, has a pet which can also CC or even chase you down, can support if it comes to that, and has way more sustain than a mesmer; warrior is yes, not condi but even as a tank build has enough damage and CC to lock people down permanently and kill, can sustain itself really good especially with staff to a degree where multiple people are needed in order to kill; rev again, more sustain, more utility and group support, projectile immunity and almost permanent resistance The mirage build you are talking about is just that, a so-so DPS with not much healing or condi cleanse, no access to stability/reflects, not much movement, has 0 support for the group and in this current meta everyone walks around with stacks of stab and earth aura or some kind of reflect, not even talking about the fact that you are forced to use your dodge in an offensive way Yes I can imagine a dagger mirage winning a 1v1 against some builds, but I met with some of that build on condi reaper, and honestly, just my staff 1 to 5 was enough to chop it to 50% health, and elite+p/t stuns more than enough to not even worry about the matchup, not even talking about me having 2 health bars and access to 3 stunbreaks, stability and the necro's natural sustain against condies -- And I have seen it multiple times that willbenders/holos are basically eating dagger mirage by constantly being on them, damaging and blocking/sustaining the damage
  6. Man, all I see that every week you complain about mesmer While you are not making any threads about warriors chain CC-ing everyone, Druids doing the same, or some troll rev Ventari/Mallyx builds I understand you want mesmer deleted, but I beg you, go on mesmer and try that build you complain about and I can assure you that every decent player on most classes will delete you
  7. Okey I get it, new players and all that but in that case at least make it so you get a currency that you can exchange for ascended armor or something to actually help new players get into fractals and it's higher tiers, and help with their progression by giving armor that can hold infusions or exchange it for something that makes more sense than a +10 infusion, in that case atleast give 2x+9
  8. No, what I am saying is that some classes are too good compared to others It's a thing that one class brings a certain thing on the table, but it's another thing when one class can basically fill all the roles What I mean is yea, warrior is not unkillable but when you need the DPS and the sidenoder and maybe even someone else to bring it down, it's too much of a benefit to pull 3 people away from other points Ele is basically able to fill the sidenoder AND also the DPS role since it's close to if not the best 1v1-er while it's DPS is just too high, if you play condi tempest then you are most likely can even fill the support role to some degree And even if one class is outside of a given scope of "balance" it's no longer balanced since taking certain classes into games gives you a higher benefit than taking something else, for example elementalist or well, some builds I met are rather immune to every counterplay since you cannot kill it from range with power due to the projectile immunity, you can't kill it from range with condies due to the amount of cleanses it has, in close combat it has auras and protection, and when it chooses to can simply walk away while healing for a ton, or just turns around CCs and 100-0 if you chase, the only counterplay is ganking The same with a warrior, it's just simply too tanky for most DPS builds and does too much damage into people by CC chaining them The problem is not that what builds bring to the table, but that how much impact that something has on the game
  9. People being surprised that ANET doesn't listen and doesn't care about endgame content... They would have got a lot of hate for not doing a fractal event, but couldn't care less to make it into something useful, so this event is just a "here you go, have fun" kind of bs Tho, I somewhat agree that the boxes were a bit OP, but not sure how much minutes of thinking and how much more minutes of coding it would have taken to modify the rewards to something more sensible, seemingly it would have taken too much time
  10. You screwed up by complaining with a chrono profile pic xD People hate mesmers even if it's currently the worst class to play anywhere above gold3, anyway As for your problem, thief hard counters mesmer, or atleast the DPS variant of chronomancer on other builds you may have an easier time dealing with but if I can give you an advice, just play something else and not mesmer, it will save you a lot of mental sanity, like go an play willbender you can braindead spam buttons and you still win any 1v1 or maybe try Holo, believe me , after 10+ years it's meaningless to complain about how thief works And currently the problem with thief is mainly deadeye and it's playstyle, the other builds atleast require some skill and knowledge about your matchup
  11. The animation on that skill is so kitten long that anyone who has some awareness can just run away from you, when I'm on reaper I rarely even use it, just start to cast it so I either foce some stab out or some movement Not gonna lie, it's good when you can hide behind something and cast it from there, but in this meta where everyone is running around with stacks of stab/atleast 2 stunbreaks it's not surprising and also, it's an ELITE skill for a reason, so it has to have some impact
  12. Swords are really weak, basically using any other weapon is doing more damage, maybe not dagger Like sw4/5 is good, but the mainhand is just too weak, and also has no condi applications either
  13. Not sure what is funnier, the fact that you somehow died on Warrior or that people just starting to abuse Hammer on rev xD Remember when people came up with idiotic hammer builds on revenant like a month or two ago, memeing in lobby and stuff then somehow the meme became a thing Tho, as other's have pointed it out, Rev could delete people even before but back then they did it with the shiro jump+Gs2+Gs3 or Gs3+Gs2 idk, something like that, basically hitting for >10k with protection
  14. Ranger is fine, nothing too OP about it compared to others same with thief Warr is well, laughable, often it needs 3 people to lock it down and kill it, but even then it can just run away Ele is OP still, the amount of protection and damage reduction you stack is insane, not even talking about the projectile immunity especially in this idiotic meta where FBs are running around spamming bubbles everywhere Rev is more or less still good, has some OP aspects to it but not enough to be considered as OP Engies I rarely see compared to others Holo is actually really good rn but nothing OP about it, Scrapper is good the next best after Ele and Gua I think(holo too) Mesmer xD I have yet to meet someone who actually plays mesmer and can prove me that it is anything above low-tier meme, whole class is a pain to play, all of it's specs Gua is well, the best class in PvP as of now, all of it's specs are viable even the core which cannot be said about any other class Reaper is also good, Condi Reaper especially but has limited movement but atleast makes up for it with being able to apply a lot of condies from range, and also the amount of CC is nice on it This current meta is everything but balanced, not sure what the balance team is doing, but surely not even thinking what they are changing, at a time where you have eles running around with permanent protection/projectile reflect and just being able to permanently stunlock and 100-0 people in a second, warriors needed to be 1v5d, and guardians hitting for >7k with one skill from the other side of the map combined with all the blocks possible in the game, that's not what we call balance Balance is when you make a choice between sustain and damage, not that you have everything on every build and then even continue to get buffs because "XY spec isn't braindead enough yet" I know that in the streams they are saying that the balance team actually plays the game and all those lies, but looking at the patch notes I just doubt it, maybe they do play meta events and T1 fractals but surely nothing higher, and neither PvP even if they do PvP they are the casual kind of with unbinded dodge, which would explain why they are putting all the defense skills on certain classes so even they can survive on it, I just cannot see why some classes are being thrown over the top and other's are just struggling to even stay on the chart But well, it's a PvE game after all, and atleast in PvE things are somewhat balanced
  15. With that setup you are not a healer nor a DPS at that point you could technically play q/a chrono DPS and the group would benefit more Without Chaos you lose out on most of the might and fury you would generate, even if the group does not require protection I hate it when people run some kind of sub-optimal healing builds and call it a healer, being able to heal people for 1-2k per second does not make you into a healer, you also need to upkeep the basic boons like might and fury and swiftness for normal runs The fact that people survived in your group is not an evidence that you are a good healer on that build, but rather that they were good at surviving On the side note tho, we are still not sure what group comp it was, what tier of fractals you did and neither that what were the uptimes on certain boons like alac/quick/might/fury, at least these basic 4, if you did not have a competent rev then most likely all these were lacking Yes you might do 5-10k DPS more, but with low boon uptimes you prevent the other 3 DPS doing 5-10k more too Also if something, marauder is again, contributes nothing at all to the build, if you say that you are able to heal, it would be also possible to take bers/assa mix to crit cap yourself, since danger time again, is not optimal at all since the slow uptime is low in all game modes, even raids so you get no benefit from that, and again if you say you are a healer, running without vitality also should be fine
  16. They probably are not going around saying staff is a terrible weapon because for firebrand or any other healer centric build on guardian, the staff has a lot to offer, even if we take just the most simple thing of sharing swiftness or completely locking down a certain place with a nicely positioned staff 5 is something I would call a nice thing rather than terrible design, on staff you have everything a healer would need, you can share swiftness/might while also healing in the same time, you have a really good CC(tho this is debatable with the current stab spam in PvP) and you also have a blast finisher(which rifle 2 should be), and you also don't really have any mandatory resources in order to keep healing, like, if FB for example would be forced to generate 3 tome pages by blasting light fields without any other page generation from staff in that case yes, we could say that since it only has 1 blast finisher it's a poor design just like rifle with one ammo for one clone, but since that's not the case I see no reason to complain about staff Rifle on the other hand, has that problem since you need to switch to some other weapon just so you get some clones but then you lose most of your healing capabilities and only need to rely on your trait healings which again isn't the case for Guardian since you have mace+shield and the only capable healing weapon on mesmer is rifle(without counting traits because ofc Insp heals with clone generation), with all this said, you could straight up switch out rifle for something else with more clone generation like staff making rifle subpar even in mesmer's own kit, again in a PvP scenario without going into the exact build just taking class mechanics into count In PvE, yes, rifle is acceptable and all the current problems of rife comes from the class itself, and not the weapon design, I agree with that As for the necro argument, yes, on necro the weapons do not really matter since you use barriers for the most part as for healing, BUT on necro your weapons are taken in way to help out with resource generation leading to more barriers and this option is not present in mesmer since you are tied to rifle without the resource generation attribute to it, but this is a PvE thing for the most part since in PvP heal necro fallen out a bit due to the lack of resource generation capabilities, tho I still see it's getting a bit of use
  17. First of all, I think in the previous comments they were discussing PvP uses for the weapon, and not PvE ones for the main part, in which I need to agree that rifle is rather on the useless side compared to other weapons of other classes, again in a PvP scenario, in order for you to heal you need clones which are hard to come by if the only way to generate them on rifle is a long cast time, long cooldown only one clone from riffle 4, riffle 5 is close to useless since people are not taking portals in PvP and the resistance uptime on it is laughable, the AA is well, not much less useful than other weapon's AAs, and skill 2/4 are useful tho they are still not anything to write home about, which leaves us with 3 skills, and is believe it or not is the same as if we would have got a mainhand weapon The other thing is, that in order to fulfill the role of the healer you are completely locked into two traitlines, which again does not provide any help with the core mechanic of clone generation, aside from the mantra clones, while other classes have the benefit of going into other traitlines too if they want, since their support capabilities are not locked behind taken traits: Gua shouts give boons/heal without any trait -- Ele is able to blast fields in a way that other's also benefit from it without taking any traits and so on Now as for PvE and it's endgame content, yes, you are right that Mesmer is good there, BUT again I need to point out that being locked behind 2 complete traitlines gives little to no flexibility to the class, a good example is that you can go with a celestial firebrand and do damage while healing and sharing boons, for mesmer you would need to take atleast Illusions to do some torment damage on shatters, which would either take away Chaos or Inspiration Again, I agree that mesmer has problems outside of rifle, but the fact that mesmer can only be used in ONE type of content as a healer is rather underwhelming since that content is only Raids, and maybe some strikes that do not require the stability sharing capabilities of FB/Rev, and believe me, as a former mesmer main I tried all kinds of builds/utilities in all kinds of content, and I think I have enough playtime on mesmer from the old times to be able to pull off mesmer correctly, and aside from low tier/low KP fractal runs mesmer is just incapable of upkeeping a decent uptime on boons aside from bosses due to the lack of clone generation, in harder strikes the limited capability for stability hurt the group, and in PvP playing mesmer with riffle is a pain
  18. I think the problem with mesmer as a class is a rather a complicated topic, since by default if we look at how the class itself works, the mechanics do not allow for an acceptable supportive gameplay, the things bellow are mixed between PvE and PvP/WvW since I think they are related with each other, given the class is the same in all game modes Let's go from there, so **clones** and phantasms are only enemy oriented, what this means is that any support they could provide, would be in close combat with enemy which is acceptable in some PvE contents where we stack on one boss, but in fractals(where mobs die faster than you can act up on) this would prevent adding any viable supportive qualities to clones, this same applies to phantasms, and this same problem is present on Mechanist where yes, it CAN be used as a support but the unpredictable nature of the bot makes the build lackluster, for mesmer this is solved with traits activating around the caster scaling with clone count... But here comes the next problem, the clone count, which again is acceptable in a PvE content setting but in PvP or WvW makes no sense as a support build to be reliant on NPCs being casted in the middle of the enemy group -- On the other side, if we look at nowdays viable support classes, even if they have some sorts of resource like revenant enery/firebrand tomes these depend on the user, and not some unpredictable 3rd party, which allows them to be more mindful of what and how they do... Not even talking about that firebrand for example, has 3*5 extra skills on top of already support oriented utility+weapon choices, and mesmer is forced to just braindead shatter and the clones being enemy oriented is really visible if we try to make a mirage to heal with ambush The next problem is the access to viable utility in order to support, again if we take guardian(either fb or core) or tempest or again, revenant they all do have skills that are "Support oriented"; support can be taken as self support too.. For example, guardians have shouts that share boons/heal independently of what traits they take(in order for mesmers to share any viable boons they need the Chaos line, here we exclude Alac and Quick since those are tied to traits on every class), Elementalists have finishers and access to 4 types of fields independent on weapon choices since **as far as I know all weapons include atleast one field/finisher per element(correct me on this if I am wrong)* and so on; mesmers on the other hand only have mantras that are supportive, hence we are forced to take inspiration to heal from mantras, and other utilities are for damage most of the time or shadowsteps or still rather on the offensive side(Null field/Portal/Stealth) So just with these, I think it's clear that mesmer was never meant to do any supportive tasks**, especially not healing, not even going into the fact that MOST of the DPS builds are sort of just that, DPS with predetermined traits and weapon choices giving little to none flexibility in terms of "how could I support myself or others a bit more while staying DPS" The fact that most of our traits, even the supportive ones(Chaos/Insp) are mostly traits that are good for one, and one thing only, they do not offer anything above what they are taken for, a good example is Inspiration which yes, it's a nice traitline but aside from the aspect of healing, it does nothing else; the same applies for Chaos which all it does is it amplifies the shatters, not the helping with the clone generation which could then synergize into more shatters and more boons from the trait; also I would like to point out that both Inspiration and Chaos include traits for skills that are not even being considered to be used which makes these traitlines feel old and "low effort" with the non-stop patching and hotfixing to make up for what's currently needed, again a good example is that a complete traitline needed to be reworked and then BUILT around ONE build, being support chrono So, again I see a lot of people being both pro/contra rifle, but in my opinion the problem with mesmer is rather in it's core, and that it was never designed to be supportive at all aside from some niche skills like Staff 5/Focus 4 and little things like these Mesmer will never have a place in PvP as a support due to the workings of clones/phantasms and traits being relied on them without helping out the generation of clones itself, which again too much clone generation would basically overpower the whole class, so I think the only way is to rework mesmer as a class, and not just traits but the base mechanics too
  19. I play mostly holo or nowdays necro, I don't know from where u getting that mesmer is anything good, but sure, up to you, after all that's why the top 250 includes so much mesmers, right? And complaining about rifle chrono is the same as complaining about thief axe... But atleast u are right about Guardian And don't tell me that you can die to a condi burst from mesmer on something like a ranger xD It's not just the stab, that one weaponset of mace/mace has atleast as much damage mods/boons/utility as some traitlines in the game, the whole weaponset is packed with stuff, and if the CC chain of Druid was not enough till now, you even have it on mace and not just one one skill one but two that you can fully reset xD I agree the stab on AA does not make much of a difference but on mace4 with the barrier and stab can be quite useful,
  20. So basically what you are saying is that even tho X weapon is literally unfair to fight against BUT give more time for ppl to figure out optimizations for the said weapon X so it becomes even more stronger... You see where the problem is right? If a weapon is strong even without any optimizations for the builds, how could those optimizations make it more acceptable? And yes, I actually went against some mace rangers, and I thought druid is annoying to fight against until I met mace untamed With the way the game is going right now, it really seems that PvP is losing skillcap really fast, there is no skill involved in landing one skill and then from there chain CCing, especially now that mace and pet are perma stunning combined with the other utilities
  21. I mean, just go on any livestream of PvP players trying out the new weapons, 1 match on mes, then move on from there because it's so painful to play even xD Unless ofc for people who like braindead things, and just spam buttons and shatter everything and be amazed of the visuals because well, atleast we got those
  22. I mean, portals like that would be a bit too OP, and honestly I think it's fine not having it BUT atleast while making the weapon think about PvP and give some normal benefits for using that skill, like riffle almost feels like a mainhand weapon without being able to get something offhand
  23. Are you surprised? There is constant crying on the forums about mesmer, like I'm 100% you could go into PvP sub rn and see atleast someone complaining about mesmers and riffle LIke, IH with riffle is just dumb, the clones are all around the map, aiming to whatever bush or tree they see so anyone who designed this and well, other mesmer weapons really knows a lot about the class Like if atleast riffle 5 would give something with the collapse or portal but it's a kitten 3s resistance with 20s CD Riffle 2 is actually decent, not gonna lie, but autoattacks hit like wet towel and riffle 4 is just too slow to hold any value in a 1v1 Like as for the axe on thief, the fact it can fly over terrain and that it has 1.8k range will get fixed for sure, but even then it's going to be decent on condi DD atleast Again, as I said, when you go mesmer, the weapons are designed to certain builds/traitlines and not the other way around like on normal classes, like this one is strictly for chaos/insp chrono for PvE
  24. Man, it's fine it's a support weapon but there are core support weapon that are better than Riffle First of all, no one and I say it again NO kittenING ONE will take your portals in a PvP match especially if you solo q You have no mobility no "usable" boon generation on it like might or anything, swiftness maybe xD But you say clunky...The whole class is clunky with idiotic mechanics, atleast ANet made sure it stays like that And yes, thief axe is what dagger should have been, like if teefs were not OP till now xD What a kittening joke
  25. The argument originally was about the burst of mesmer, which is indeed high IF you are against a full glass cannon build, then some people started to reason that mesmer is OP or whatever because it has high burst and also Distortion Now, even tho mesmer's have high burst and distortion that's all they have in the current argument, so let's say that mesmer is OP okey? Now, you are bringing up that holo and gua is getting a "buff" ON TOP of all they have right now which is already OP, so I don't understand your concerns about mesmer being just as OP as Guardian or anything else(even tho this is far from being true)..., yes they might not have access to distortion and yes they might do less burst or whatever, but they have other tools to make up for not having distortion or the said burst numbers, I have harder time fighting anything other than mesmers, with a mesmer I CC and it's dead, this same is not true for any of the classes from above, neither for condi necros or untamed or well, the real OP class nowdays "perma stealth spam AA" DE As a PS, Hammer Guardians have more burst than mesmers do, mechanics and utility that worth more than distortion on mesmer in it's current state, I agree that going against a good mesmer is annoying, and I also agree that mesmer needs changes, but those changes DO NOT begin with distortion as the first thing, neither it's numbers, since if the class loses any of those it basically degrades the class into useless, which would be rather a "hate nerf" than a actual change for the better
