  1. God aweful choice. You should rethink that. Hahaha, which class would you recommend? XD
  2. Understand that your server has cycles of population now. So there will be times when you get utterly demolished by opponents - this is my favourite time to play. Small victories in a time of despair are more interesting than rolling over enemy stuff with a giant zerg. But I'm getting ahead of myself;First, press Bon the left press the bottom iconThis will show you your World vs World ABILITIES Aim to get1 point in gliding, then1 point in Warclaw, then4 points in provisions mastery->F2P players start hereGuard KillerDefense Against GuardsThings that involve SupplySiege stuff last of all - don't man siege if someone else can do it - they are probably higher rank than you and have these masteries that buff their effectiveness. Now, that's in an ideal world, but you are curious about siege and they are weary veterans who have done it a zillion times, so by all means jump on the siege and use it, but don't waste your points in mastery ... until last.SUPPLY Supps are the lifeblood of the WvW game. You do everything with supply. So try to make sure you have some.If you stand near a tower, keep, camp (henceforth referred to as Objectives) you should look in the top right corner of the screen - it says "Supply in Depot".When you press F while standing near the big pile of boxes, you collect supply. You can see how much supply you are carrying - it's that number at the top of the screen next to the barrel. The other numbers are score and tick timer.SCORE The score has evolved over the years to mitigate giant spikes of activity (also known as night capping). So the things that display the score are a bit all over the place. In addition to PPK (points per kill), you get score by PPT (points per tick) - ofc PPKers tease PPTers, but we secretly know they need each other. Here is how PPT works; If you hold an objective, you get points every few minutes for holding it. Simple! If you put your mouse pointer over the number at the top of the screen a dropdown shows a summary of the number of objectives each team has. When you press B, the default pane is the pie chart. Next to the pie chart are the scores...On the right is Warscore. When the TICK timer drops to 0, the points at the top of the screen are added to the warscore. When the SKIRMISH TIMER (also at the top of the screen in small text) hits zero, the team with top warscore gets 5 VICTORY POINTS, second gets 4, third gets 3.Those VICTORY POINTS are added to the score on the LEFT of the pie chart.Whoever has most victory points at the end of the match is the winner.LADDER The ladder is a secret list of Worlds. This ladder is ONLY available on third party websites. When you win a matchup, your World goes UP the ladder! When you lose a matchup, your team goes DOWN the ladder. If you don't do either, you remain in your current tier.(if you lose in the bottom tier you remain in bottom tier, if you win in top tier you remain in top tier)NOTE: Tier 1 is not always the most fun!Voice Comms Probably the best thing you can do to improve your gaming experience is to join a voice comms team (you don't have to talk, just type responses in chat, people are understanding if you're shy or mute or have no microphone). Voice lets you hear the intentions of the commander, listen to real humans - the difference between listening and reading emotionless text is phenomenal. That's the basics of the game, you should probably just follow a commander tag at prime time. Good luck.Ask for help in /team chat. There's often someone who wants to show a newbie around. OMG, thanks for that awesome info <3
  3. Thanks for the warm welcome. I decided to go with main - mesmer. So now I have pretty much full equipped minstrel chrono. Only missing few +5 concentration infusions. I saw its an off support, healer? With a lot of boon strip. Any advices on how to play this class effectively in group? I guess solo is not an option here :D
  4. how do you wave or bow while dead for example? XD or jsut winner does it?
  5. I'm guilty of it too, tho I do not enforce it. I do prefer to have alacrity and hfb quickness in party :)
  6. Burn guard is a newbie stomper of the highest caliber. Combine that with your MMR, and you get just-as-expected results. Would you suggest melting people to gold or even platinum tier? And then focusing on other class? I mean hell, nothing comes close to dh burn...
  7. Mesmer:Make clones and shatter for dps, be it power dmg on shatter or apply conditions on shatter. I main mesmer since 2012 and condi mirage is where I find the most fun currently. DPS is very good, but it lacks a bit on small trash mobs, medium/hard mobs to champ is where its fun, since a lot of conditions can be applied and I just repeat what is quite a simple rotation and keep evading attacks. If you master mirage you can evade most of the dmg.I would say mirage is condi oriented - axe/torch pistol. And chrono is power oriented. Chrono can also be used as a support, but imho his support role got overtaken by guardian firebrand and revenant renegade (quickness and alacrity). Continuum split and reseting everything is fun mechanic tho, altho can be hard to get perfected.Currently not very usable in pvp and wvw due to recent nerfs =/Guardian:Burn dragon hunter melts people in pvp, I imagine in pve its the same lol. Very sought after support in fractals. Nice in wvw.Necromancer:Think of him like mage tank who applies conditions. Used to be broken, now its not as much, but still survivability is quite insane. Good for any game mode, not must have on any tho.Ranger:Can be either condi build or power build. Also can be support with druid trait line, tho meta shifted to heal firebrand imho. Decent in any game mode really, not a must anywhere, maybe raids for spotter.Elementalist:besides the engineer, most complex class, it can be the best class, or the weakest. If you are not prepared to learn his every skill in detail and learn of aoe blasting for might apply, aoe heal, aoe cleanse etc, skip it. You need to heavily invest and master it to a point where you will type on a keyboard like a friking piano. At that point your a god. Seriously, i would advise you to skip it if you are not going to learn about every little thing about it. Fyi, play since 2012, didnt yet master it and i suck.Warrior: Most basic class. I have the less knowledge off since I never played it because rl friend mains it. Can be used as banner slave support, quite popular. Very good as support in pvp atm. If you love general warrior class, you can go for it. But for general warrior could also apply to drahon hunter power build, or power ranger with greatsword, and even revenant.Thief:For pvp, it has similar role as mesmer. You run around and +1 fights and empty ponts. Mesmer would probably have better 1 on 1 chance, but thats not their role. In certain raids its usefull as boonstrip, for wvw i guess it could be fun to solo roam with proper build, same as mesmer, but so would be ele, or pretty much any class. Think of it as a best mobility class, and daredevil is only class with 3 dodge bars. And mirage got nerfed and only has 1, even tho whole specialization is based around dodges and evades. Retarded move in trying to balance somethng that was supposed to exceed in comparison to other classes.Engineer:I wouldnt say stay away new players. In fact, I would put him as a viable new player class if you arent looking for a one button class. It is a lot more forgiving to play engi compared to ele. I would say make it and test few skills/kits and see if you like the gameplay. Its easy class to play for real, but its just as hard to master as ele. Difference is, you wont be dead in few seconds :DRevenant:Lovechild of warrior and thief. Its quite fun in pvp and not the hardest to play there either. Highly sought after for raids and fractals. I thing wvw they are good too. His gameplay is quite different than other clases, has the smallest amount of skills to go trough, so you could get a hold of it quicker i guess. Can be powerfull as condi or power. This is my insight into classes, hopefully you find it insightful :D
  8. Hello, I'm playing since 2012, but I've been mostly focusing on fractals and what time I had left I raided or sPvP. I never basically played WvW besides initial try years ago, and I'm itching to give it another go. What would you suggest new WvW player like me to play. Which class? Which build? How to even go about WvW, what to do there. Some simple direction guides :P My main is Mirage and I recently made HFB since coming back after years of pause. I can probably create and ascended equip any class, but I would like some imput on what and how to play :)
  9. Yesterday I tried thief, and maan I loved all the mobility, got kinda carried away with +1 and didnt always run for capping far :DThen I tried guardian. Holy Fook! They melt ppl within seconds, I was total newb and ppl were melting, dps that came from burning is insane. Now please someone explain it to me. Am I a natural with guardian, or is it seriously waaay tooo overdue for nerf? If its the first one, I dont see myself playing anything else because I finally feel like I'm impacting the game :O
  10. lol :DWhats soi? Emberessed I ask this being mesmer sicne 2012 XD
  11. Thanks, will try it. I haven't been playing for years now, but no way in hell am I running my main mesmer, what has happened while I was away? XDOne dodge cmon... That's not Mesmer but Mirage. Yes I was thinking of mirage. I'm just baffled as how anet could remove core mechanic from a class. Only one dodge on class that is centered around dodging. Thats dodgy :D They added an extra dodge on Daredevil, what stops them from removing any? Besides, Mirage can dodge at anytime and have more dodges laying all over the place as you play the profession that can be used to constantly pressure with added Vigor. There's more dodges accessible overtime on Mirage than any other spec, it was a clear issue to never be able to kill any Mirages with 2 dodges and nobody wants to admit that. Only way was if they were very bad or countered by impossibly risky transfers that they couldn't recover from. Finally Jaunt exists. There's more dodges accessible overtime on Mirage than any other spec??? Explained that wrong, but meant with 2 bars. Yes there was more "overtime" and considering they can be used at anytime. It was overkill. mirage had less dodge uptime then classes like weaver or thief, even with 2 dodges. now its just lul At release till it was patched Mirage Cloak was a full second (or even 1.25 but I'm being fair giving it 1 second instead) compared the 3/4 of regular uptime and fixing that still wasn't enough (Imagine my shock that evading at anytime isn't broken enough already, just dodge every following burst.) but who's gonna admit it anyway. Daredevil with endurance alone surpass both yet with 3 bars barely beating Mirage by 0.25, but having Mirage Cloak usable at any time twice is really easy to recover from anything in the entire game, forget exhaustion unless you're going to count it on Daredevil as well. Put weapons into the mix not counting utility or invulnerables, Daredevil uptime can't get more than 3.75 back to back with weapon evade spam, you'd think Weaver won with 4.25 yet Mirage can go up to 4.5 (1+1+1.75+0.75) because people loved to abuse that sword evade bloated in uptime (and mobility) while benching Axes of Symmetry for damage, which is also still strong today in Hybrid Damage but that's something else no one will admit to regardless. Want to add utility, traits and invulnerabilites? Don't forget /optional/ Mirrors that can be spawned alongside 3 extra seconds of invulnerability that will easily break any sustain uptime from all utility people can toss (outside of stealth spam), not forgetting Jaunt and Blinds. Definitely not above Mirage, of course you can still connect everything else again under the latter as CD's go down but you see, this is all part of Mirage gameplay whether you play offensively or defensively, Weaver or Daredevil don't get all of this while being able to dodge "anytime", maybe just Primordial Stance or Steal at best. Have me go GS/Sword+Torch and abuse that overpowered design instead then complain balance nerfs to my profession because I can't be super powerful and untouchable at the same time. Implying that this was okay also implies that Revenant was fine with a stunbreak every 10 seconds that could follow with evade spam or that Spellbreaker evade spam was also okay. They weren't at all and funnily enough did not match Mirage superior Cloak uptime. Weaver actually sits barely above the food chain in terms of evade now and that's the only viable part of Elementalist, core is extremely weak with all the high cooldowns as Weaver get the best utility and Tempest is either a easy glassy kill or a aurabot. Should you know who really has it worst right now, definitely not Mesmer or Mirage even at one dodge. You seem to have something against mesmer or specifically mirage :DOnly mesmers I see here and there are power shatter builds so far. And if cought out of breath its deadly indeed...
  12. If you're interested in learning Ele, I highly reccomend checking out Cellograg's Youtube Channel He's one of the best weavers out there, and he's got several in depth guides posted Here is a by Kahsua that does a good job of explaining your Bread n butter combos. Vallun has a few guides on his channel, including builds for Weaver, Tempest, and Support Firebrand. Check out his recent how to support video for a Firebrand build you can try out. Or if you don't mind off meta builds. I can also give you my Sage firebrand build with a quick rundown of why it takes the traits it does ect. Thanks. You can share :)
  13. I totally agree, and I intend to try few of the general fun gameplay classes and see for myself. So far revenant seems to be nice. But will try others to be sure on who to invest time. What would you recommend? :) It's hard to recommend any class really, because of how unfriendly Conquest is to newer players. The game doesn't teach anything regarding rotation for Conquest. I would not recommend a class that is overly restrictive (Mirage, Revenant) but rather one with plenty of resources and tools that haven't really been nerfed much. I'd look into Holosmith.Interesting view, will give it a try :)
