  1. Complete revamp of character creation/customization with tons of new options--body types, scars and injuries, age, voice customization, ect. I want to make a ratty looking, emaciated charr with a bald tail, scars everywhere, and Flame Legion horns..... and a lady norn who is both smaller-chested and more heavily muscled then our current options.... and fat old human mages. That'd be fun.
  2. I agree, I hate that sort of thing. I just eye-roll and move on when I see it in town--every MMO has it.
  3. Can't believe this has to be said but.... heterosexual men aren't the only humans with a sex drive. Hetero women and gay men like sexy stuff too.
  4. You need more categories then "yes" and "no" For me... yes but not because I want my character to look "sexy" Revealing armor looks good on charr, because it looks primitive and shows the fur patterns. And, although I have no personal interest in making a "sexy" character, I approve of the message being sent by offering the same sexy gear to male and female characters. I've been a female gamer for a couple decades, and the "woman gets bikini, man gets full plate" nonsense needs to be done away with.
  5. I'm really glad the bikini armor is the same skin for males and females. I have no issue with sexy gear by itself--but I DO have an issue when ONLY females are sexualized. Armor like this gives the best of both worlds--people who want battle-bikini-babes can have their skin, AND it's done in a way that isn't demeaning.
  6. Eh. I'd just ignore them. I'll do the basic "no mounts, no opening doors before commander, no knockbacks" politeness, but if a commander demands anything as specific as 'remove all trinkets or else' I just quit reading chat. If they rage-quit and leave, another less-touchy commander will tag up within 2 minutes. So... *shrug*
  7. Dude, beefy charr and male norn look hilarious in maid outfit and I love it. Plus, many people DO have androgynous or trans characters. PLUS, if the butler outfit is available for both genders (as it should be) then it would be weird and phobic not to make the opposite true. If women can "dress like a man" and have it be perfectly acceptable, then men should also be able to "dress like a woman" and be accepted. The automatic -that's stupid- or -that's icky- response is culturally ingrained, and originates from the idea that it's shameful for a man to show feminine traits. Time for society to move beyond that, IMO
  8. I think your personal biases are coloring your view of things. A LOT.
  9. Try the GW2 comic run by https://ruderubicante.tumblr.com/.
  10. I mean... literally ALL OF IT is stuff they just "completely made up." That's.... kind of the definition of a fantasy game xD
  11. Actually Daphne from Scooby Doo was originally a clever detective. She used the "pretty girl" image as cover to spy, and also to help her friends escape when captured. The idea behind her was to show kids that the traditional "girly-girl" could be a strong character too. Mind you, some modern Scooby-Doo remakes lost sight of Daphne's original intent and casted her as the "unintelligent pretty girl," but honestly that's just misogyny in action. I'm not saying Kasmeer is perfect--as some others have pointed out, I don't like the "Barbiedoll" aesthetic she and most other human females are forced to have in GW2... but her character and personality are pretty solid. She obviously doesn't just "look pretty"
  12. I like Kasmeer just fine. She's neither my favorite nor my least-favorite character. Different people are drawn to different personality types. It would be silly to "eject her from DW" just because she isn't everyone's cup of tea. If we're ejecting characters from DW on that basis, DW would no longer exist because EVERY character has its fans and haters.
  13. The new elf ears item gives charr a new set of horns. The horns look cool, especially since their color changes according to the charr's fur color. Could we get these horns in the makeover kit, please? Both the version with and without jewelry? I'd like to be able to adjust their size and use them independent of the ear skin.
  14. I actually do like the new horn skin given to charr--but I hope they add it as a selectable horn option in the makeover kit, where you can adjust the size.
  15. I detest crafting. To those who also detest it: there is now Monastery Armor up for sale on the trading post. I bought myself the set---one piece unlocks that skin for light, medium, and heavy. Last I checked it was 30-40g a piece.
  16. I agree with what Fenella said, that Aurene can choose whether or not someone physically alters, based on the person's will. There are a lot of gear items that allow you to create a crystal commander if you want. The story never mentions whether the commander starts to alter like Caithe--Anet leaves it to the players to create their own personal headcannons of the commander. Some players want an un-altered commander, others go all out with crystal gear so their commander looks more like a Ryland or Braham.
  17. Every community in every MMO to ever exist has rude people. If you cannot filter out and ignore rude people online, you may as well avoid the internet entirely, not just online games. There is a point at which you are not a victim anymore, when you are choosing to focus on the insults and choosing to be angry and offended. Here's a tip: if you choose to laugh it off, perhaps offer some snarky banter in return, you'll be happier and more able to enjoy the internet. If you can't do that, you can personalize your chat bar to completely remove map chat, say chat, and whispers--so that you cannot see if someone insults you.
  18. I would definitely like more realistic wing animations while walking or fighting. For instance, having the hawk wings folded against your back when you're walking, and having them extend and move when you're in combat--create the illusion that it's an actual limb your character is flexing and moving on their body, rather than a goofy glider that'll get you stuck in doorways.
  19. If they can actually manage to do this without breaking armor then yes please. Human male bodies are just different versions of Hulk and SUPER-Hulk, human female bodies are just slightly different versions of anime-barbie... male or female, they all look plastic and fake. I'd definitely like the option for proportions similar to those of real people.
  20. Efram does mention this in passing--that he won't let his people go back to what they were, ect. It's subtle, but there. I think the theme of the past repeating itself with the charr and Frost Legion is more prominent for us as players than it would be for the characters in the moment. The characters are living their day-to-day lives and have varying levels of historical knowledge--it's realistic that they wouldn't recognize the parallel until after the war is over and they have time to reflect on it all. For us as players, it's super obvious. The charr still have all the cultural traits that made them vulnerable to Flame Legion propaganda hundreds of years ago--obsession with warfare and domination, xenophobia, soldiers trained to obey without question... it makes sense they were vulnerable to history repeating itself. The difference here was that modern charr have been forced by circumstance into close contact and alliances with many other races--even the most xenophobic charr have a wider worldview than their ancestors did--and this ultimately saved them from repeating history.
  21. The female faces are the easiest to get looking good (for a more mean/fierce look, just downsize the eyes and make the eyebrows look angry). The male faces are unique and I like them, but they feel a little bit rushed. For instance, all 3 male faces have the EXACT same eyes--when you swap between them the face around the eyes changes, but the eyes stay the same. Also, the eyes don't seem to be positioned quite right in the skull--on one male face in particular, when his eyes dart around, they roll back into his head and it looks wrong. I also wonder if Anet viewed the male faces from the side, against the male charr's body profile. Unless you give them max head size, those faces create a "big body, tiny pinhead" look. Overall, I like the inspiration for the faces, but there are some little details/bugs that make me think they weren't looked over carefully enough.
  22. That isn't true--when the Olmakhan section of the story released, they also released a patch that made charr horns gender neutral AND added like 6-7 brand new kinds of horns. We also got a new female charr face. Those horn models are still mostly seen among the Olmakhan/Flame Legion and are more rare among the other three legions.
  23. I hope Arenanet remembers the other races as well as humans. I'm excited for Canthan human features and hairstyles as well, but I also have characters of the other races too. Seeing as this expansion and PoF are both 'human-centric' in the sense that we're visiting human kingdoms from GW1, when you could only play as human, special care needs to be taken by Arenanet to give attention to all playable races--one way is by giving them new creation features. In PoF, we saw new options for only humans at first. Then, in the living story following/continuing PoF, we got a ton of new charr options thanks to the Olmakhan. However, Asura, Norn, and Sylvari were neglected. Potential ideas for non-human races: Sylvari - Plant-based imitations of Canthan hairstyles. Perhaps also skin, eye, and color options allowing you to create an Awakened Sylvari or an ex-Mordrem Sylvari, since both of these variants are a thing. Charr - Flame legion horns and features. Just as the addition of the Olmakhan brought their horns/features, the alliance with Flame Legion should provide the same. Flame Legion Smoke and Lava shamans have unique horns and faces unavailable to players. A variation on Efram/Gaheron's horns would be cool as well. Norn - New tattoos, especially tattoos themed around the lost Spirits we dealt with in Icebrood Saga. Now that Eagle, Wolverine, Ox, and Owl are free of Jormag, they (perhaps with the exception of Owl) will become a part of mainstream Norn society again. Perhaps some features and eyes which are damaged/scarred by frostbite as well/ Asura - These guys are the hardest, since they sadly haven't been given the focus afforded to the other three. However, since Asura involve themselves in dangerous science experiments so frequently,. messed up faces and ears from various lab disasters would always be fun. Maybe some Asura with cyborg alterations? A false eye, metal paneling on a scarred face, ect?
