  1. Sigh... I've tried multiple times after the meta to find help, but no luck. Anyone interested in helping? There'll be tips. 🙂
  2. I have a small family guild, just me and my kids. After hearing that Isle of Reflection was supposed to scale down my son and I (both average players) tried several times but we kept running out of time, the mobs were easy but the bosses took forever For help I tried using the LFG and map chat at various times (afternoon & evening, off meta) over the weekend in Seitung Province but didn't get any bites. My guess is it was due to the lower player population on the new maps. Is there a better time or day to put up a LFG for this, should I use the core Tyria section? Or, is there anyone willing to help out with claiming the guild hall? I'm on NA. Thanks, DedTreeJig Edit: Readability
  3. Earliest picture of my Ranger, Kyudo Athel, from 2016 and Kyudo in 2020 wearing his mask to stay safe.
  4. My favorite location is Tarir. My best memory is when I accidentally stumbled on the Shadow Behemoth event while leveling. I had no idea what was going on, but it was awesome.
  5. For me, roaming around Queensdale with my first character (ranger) and stumbling across the Shadow Behemoth event. I had no idea what was going on, but it was awesome.
  6. Can you send me an invite? I am interested in getting into fractals. Thanks.
  7. My setup:ASUS 17.5" Gaming Laptop (GL703VD )Intel i7-7700HQ CPU16GB RAMGeForce GTX 1050 4GB VideoCrucial 1TB SSDAlso use a Logitech G600 and Razar Tartarus v2 I get around 50fps on the old maps, low 40's on the new maps, 25-30 during meta's (with character model and limit set to low)
  8. I chose the Griffin, overall I find the it the most useful. Based on how often I use each mount my order is Griffin, Jackal, Springer, Skimmer, Rapter, Rollerbeetle, Skyscale. The Skyscale will probably move up on the list as I get used to it, but unless they make significant changes I don't see it supplanting the Griffin. I have the Warclaw but I don't do WvW so it's basically useless for me, though I might use it while I'm waiting on an event just for a change.
  9. I originally voted that they should be reduced, but after getting the Skyscale my opinion changed. It's not that I think the Skyscale is worth that amount of map currency, but after completing the whole collection I feel more invested in the game. I don't think I would feel the same if it had been easier.
  10. I'm a casual, I play an hour a day maybe 3 or 4 weekdays and perhaps 5 over the weekend if I have time. I was a little put off by the map currency requirements, but ultimately it only took me 12 days to get my Skyscale. Getting the map currency was a bit tedious, but now that I have the mount I am glad it wasn't that easy to get. It gives me, a filthy casual, a sense of accomplishment. My $0.02.
  11. When initially developing the Skyscale did you have the collection time and requirements in mind or did that develop over time? How did you arrive at the requirement of a full stack of each LS4 currencies for the Skyscale saddle, especially when it seems disproportionate to the other collections. Lastly, who was your target player for the Skyscale?
  12. If 56 qualifies me as an Old Timer I might be interested.
  13. I'm interested in joining, I am about as introverted as they get. If you talk to me I'll talk to you, but it's doubtful I will ever start a conversation. If that's okay count me in.
  14. I have a male Charr warrior and a female Norn necro, I like the vibe my Charr gives off as he goes crazy with dual axes. My statuesque female Norn with the glowing green eyes feels better suited to stand silently by as she watches your slow, agonizing death.
  15. Cat 5 handles up to 100Mb just fine, so unless you have an Internet connection faster than that (doubtful, unless you have fiber directly to your house) there is nothing to be gained by using Cat 7 cables. you should double check your information before posting and being proved wrong fully on a forum !! Cat7 can also support 10 Gbps, but laboratory testing has successfully shown its ability to transmit up to 40 Gb at 50 meters and even 100 Gb at 15 meters. The cabling can support frequencies of up to 600 Mhz. Cat7 offers extensive shielding to reduce signal attenuation and is relatively stiff in comparison to previous generations of cabling. The shielding needs to be grounded and Cat7 also requires special GigaGate45 (GG45) connectors. https://planetechusa.com/blog/ethernet-different-ethernet-categories-cat3-vs-cat5e-vs-cat6-vs-cat6a-vs-cat7-vs-cat8/That only helps if the anet servers happen to be plugged into your home router. :) Regardless of the theoretical speed of the cable, for our purposes it's the speed of your internet connection that matters. If your connection is 100Mbps* (or even 1Gbps) that cat7 cable is going to be awfully empty of anet data. *Internet connections are listed by bandwidth, not speed.
  16. My Ranger Kyudo with Ho-Ho Tron during Wintersday. (Kyudo is Japanese for "The Way of the Bow") Kyudo armored up.
  17. Age in most cases, but not all, does affect dexterity. But more than that, it affects stamina and focus, at least in my case. However, since most people don't raid or competitively PvP or WvW, what does it matter? I'll be 56 soon and I'm part of the first generation that grew up on video games (admittedly a faint shadow of what they have become today). I'm not going to stop playing just because I'm not interested in killing myself raiding. There's plenty of stuff in this game for a guy like me to do. The builds I tend to make aren't meta builds, but they're more fire and forget builds. Phantasm builds on a chronomancer, for example, rather than a shatter build. I still shatter when I can resummon 2 phantasms, but it's not nearly as active. Daredevil is a very very easy build, using staff and dual pistol, for people who want to take it easier and still clear content. I tend to stay away from eles and engies, not that I never play them but I don't play them as much or as hard. My engie is using a flame thrower build that works quite nicely that I call fire and forget. lol I'll be 56 next month, it's similar for me. I tend to play the easy classes; ranger, reaper and guardian. My builds are comfortable and do well enough that I can solo the story and not die all the time in PvP.
  18. I'm not going to comment on the difficulty, but I agree that the companions are mostly useless (looking at you Braham).
  19. I've completely lost interest in PoF, and it saddens me a bit. After taking a break for the Halloween festivities in LA I want back to the desert to fight Archon. A few minutes into the fight I realized I was having zero fun, so I walked to the edge of the instance, got kicked and logged off with no interest in returning. I'm sure I'll be back at some point, maybe for season 4 if it looks to be fun and isn't locked behind the PoF story. For now I'm off to play that other game I've seen hanging around the neighborhood. I realized that wasn't really "feedback" so I though I would include some. Combat in the PoF maps, and the stories to a lesser extent, are tedious. They feel like a chore with little reward for the effort. If the fights themselves were rewarding it would be okay, but they aren't. There's no sense of accomplishment, just a feeling of relief when it's over. By comparison I find the fights in HoT to be very satisfying, well I could do without pocket raptors. Of course this is just my opinion. EDIT: After season 4 arrived my interest in PoF was fully renewed. I am thoroughly enjoying Istan.
  20. I think they should be part of chained events rather than large metas.
  21. ^ This. I did a bounty train yesterday and was seriously disappointed with the rewards. I could have spent less time doing the octovine and received much better stuff.
