  1. https://metabattle.com/wiki/Build:Untamed_-_LB/GS_Untamed_Marksman Is there something I don't see? Is this real life? For me Untamed is the worst class design I ever seen in a MMO....just the other day, I defeated an untamed with a staff druid...a "power" staff druid in PVP...so please, can somebody tell me this secret OP Untamed build?
  2. You are just getting beaten by a far better player and you refuse to admit that to yourself, the equivalent of players in the past getting beaten by a d/p thief or power herald....they are better than you period. By contrast, let me explain to you what an easy overperforming build looks like: 1) Renegade = access to a ranged weapon with CC and a short CD condi/power burst with an extremely high power coefficient. all this paired with a block/heal secondary weapon, all married to pulsing stability, dmg reduction traits/elite and reflect on heal....all of this require close to zero effort well. A build that can be spammed to death in a competitive setting and can require several people to hit on it for over 5m if lucky in an environment like WvW. Low effort=huge reward kind of gameplay that does not need a glass amulet to do dmg. While neutered in PvP, still annoying to face and while it remains a broken OP spec in WvW thx to celestial stats and perma boon crap The one above, it's an example of easy build = a monkey can perform well on it, learning it overnight, turning from a nobody to champion of the realms from one day to another, this in my mind is what "easy build" looks like. And like renegade there are other braindead easy builds: Vindicator - Virtuoso - Chrono bunker- Catalyst - Mechanist - etc etc etc. Untamed on the other hand, it's not an easy build...it's a one trick pony build on a glass stats that can become a somehow interesting "duellist" in the hands of a decent player and only in a 1v1 scenario if anything. The reason why I count with one hand the number of times an Untamed was able to win...not because of the build but because the player was leagues better than me. In the hands of average players, Untamed is a free kill..you can kill with a sneeze or a menacing stare.... Calling a 90s CD elite and those cantrips a great sustain option....it's laughable at best...extremely sad when not. What if I kill both your pets? What if I stealth when you stealth? What if I can CC you to death? What if I condi bombed you? What if I have reflect and perma stability? What if I kite you to death when you pop that 90s CD elite? So many easy methods to nullify your average untamed, the same methods that do kitten against truly faceroll builds I have mentioned before. Untamed is kitten unless played by Boyce, ROM or the likes and they just win because they're better players not because the elite is worth kitten With builds like virtuoso....vindicator....catalyst....harbinger.....people on the PVP forum ask for nerfs on untamed I guess some people can't manage to win even if given builds that play themselves But hold on, I mean..by all means, nerf Untamed..delete it even, 3/4 of the ranger community doesn't use it ...so be my guest, I only wanted to clarify what an easy build looks like...a monkey can run it...and it will hold several people with it, while smashing buttons randomly
  3. Outside lb...what else is ranged on guardian? Last I checked even the sword projectiles got change and now they are not more....projectiles....like are you playing scepter guardian? Lol
  4. The trait triggers 1 x stack of bleeding every 8s ICD...it's behind awful and a waste of trait slot......
  5. Druid will be either 1-1-1 trait or you waste your kittening time while Untamed remains a PvE spec at best...or try hard mode PvP yolo build
  6. So why deadeye can do the same thing but on the worst scale and much more quickly?
  7. Revenant in general has busted base sustain compared to the current ranger, things will be much better with the next balance patch but for now, yeah you're doing better on Vindicator compared to any ranger build( relatively speaking) thx to having: Block on GS and Staff, Vindicator GS is pretty dope compared to Hammer Untamed which is just a PvE weapon 1.5k healing on swapping legends/using alliance skills with 0 healing power Highly customisable with different legend combos ( of course always keeping the double kurzik/luxon legend)
  8. Both evades would keep you on the target while avoiding dmg, what is unintuitive about that? Now you will just jump straight into aoe spam without any chance to avoid damage! Right now you can choose to keep pressure and still save the leap to disengage, but now you will be forced to use both leaps to stay on target and you have zero kittening disengage! You won't have the ability to use the about face to misdirect the enemy who then aoe fire in another direction and you could run in the opposite direction......now you leap directly into their face...and you mention dagger off hand...it's a terrible weapon and this butchering of sword won't make people pick it The weapon is objectively 1000% worst for no kittening reason other than "thinking" less to use a leap skill...great news for pvers I guess, and all of this for some paltry 3k dmg with 25 might if lucky.....kittening brilliant balance change. P.S I wish would stop being so fixated on their DPS rotation. The main point of using sword over usual GS, it's to replace the block with 2x evades for sustain....we had 2x evades on the sword since ever...and this guy now removes one of those evades for some 2k dmg to make happy golem benchmark artists ...
  9. On second thought...I had the time of digest the changes and....they completely gutted sword with asinine changes, they removed the evade from sword 2 just for a mere 1k base dmg...what the absolute kitten...
  10. Let me get this straight...: -I lose not one but both about face movements which were integral to sword gameplay to avoid incoming bursts and make perfect use of combo fields -Now I have 2x very predictable and trackable leaps with a single evade so that I eat all incoming burst It completely ruined sword. just so that pvers can increase their golem benchmark by a little, you removed 60% of the defensive abilities of sword for a little power component, effectively turning Ranger sword in a Bizarro version of MH dagger.....absolutely kittening brilliant!
  11. Positive changes, I'll be damned...overall great changes.. - Still unsure how Untamed will fare, still nothing to keep pet alive, but the new GM may make the spec more useful outside pewpew onehit wonder pvp spec....possibly. So a 7/10 balance patch for me - I hope @PaperRoll will be ok but....finally Ancient Seed has been removed, took years to remove that kitten trait
  12. Sounds about right...although you forget the part when you are considered a complete scrub and need to L2P if you dare to lose against their clearly underpowered class, that nobody plays
  13. Untamed would work decently if the pet mechanic would not be so trash...pet mechanic is absolutely god awful
  14. Because that's not a level of defence good enough outside a favourable 1v1, where you are against specs that can't close distance easily enough. The whole spec crumbles the second you have a +1 from a bruiser or somebody brings stealth removal. You need more than that in 2023....everybody got super mobility, flying and teleport, CC spam for days etc etc etc...this is not 2012 anymore where the argument "oh ranger is a good duellist"....nobody cares. In 2023 other professions can cross the whole map in seconds and still be able to team fight...with the same spec, just used to hold far against your ranger...which in return can't do the same
  15. It's not that it's different for me...my statement is based on common sense and what Anet has already stated in a blog: They specifically want this sustain powercreep to facilitate new players in the game, they made these easy-to-play juggernauts like vindicators, renegade, mechanist, virtuoso etc etc...to attract more casuals to the game. And in that sense, it works for them, new players come to GW2 thx to those specs and it's all great and all for the community but...what happens when vets then start using those same specs? I had this type of thread on ele, warrior and guardian....somehow they all got what I was asking for catalyst -bladesworn and willbender. In every single thread...I encountered the same type of reactions in all of them, and now all those laughing at my suggestion are playing those specs zealously. I had people against me on the ele thread, calling me names and:" go play something else if ele is too hard for you...ele is fine..blah blah blah....and scepter doesn't need buff...we have enough sustain...blah blah..I like complexity" blah blah...all virtue signalling and pompadour when all I was suggesting was to bring ele at the same level of effort of other professions, and weaver was not ideal for that. Months later we got catalyst..and then scepter and staff buffs, and do you think this happened because my words count more than yours?.....no no.....it's because my suggestion was the most common thing to do. Adding more active defences to Ranger got nothing to do with increasing sustain, it's all about increasing build diversity, and when you are forced to use GS in every competitive build vs high players...that's not what I'd call build diversity. Nowhere in this thread, I have suggested anything crazy, a single additional block on another weapon will not make this game worst than it is, it would be simply a way to bring Ranger in line with other professions in 2023. I am all for effort=reward, it should be equal in every profession, equality is not imbalance...on the contrary, it's the very definition of balance. First, we need a solid and homogeneous base for all professions then...those who feel the game is too easy for them... can go and play naked afterwards. The majority of the player base..I'd say 90%, don't care about any talk of skill level on the forum, people just want to win with the least amount of effort, that 90% is the customer base and Anet made specs for them that allow to win with the least amount of effort, it would be high time for the ranger to join the fray in a sensible manner, and adding an additional source of block would be a good start, anything to increase the active defences on the class Now, if you have anything other than personal opinion, go on and keep alive the discussion with a counter-argument explaining how the current ranger can keep up with others without GS and/or stealth on every single build. Your mindset is focused on 1v1...but the game is not just 1vs1, if players want to support in PvP/WvW or have a more frontline role...they need more active defence, no way around it. When you are trying to support people with a druid and you get focused, what will you do? stealth and run away?...
  16. And then you get beaten by people who don't give a crap about your code of honour and play condi build with bunker stats. I give you a suggestion if it's in-game...use it till removed. Once I level the playing field...I stop having issues
  17. It seems an untamed was able to signet of the hunt through your shield parry while on spellbreaker...
  18. What you think the game needs, won't change anything and I can guarantee the devs won't remove the huge sustain powercreep, other professions have enjoyed for the last 5years or so. At high levels, once you remove the paltry stealth and the GS block...you are left with...nothing really that cannot be outsustained by other professions with medium effort at best
  19. Can we have additional sources of block on this class? more stability, please? The ranged potential of other professions has drastically increased over the years, in most cases they match or even surpass the simple LB gameplay, while having access to bigger damage coefficients and lower requirements to make use of burst abilities. In addition, pretty much everything these days has Goku Teleporting abilities...so screw your pewpew chance at positioning. In 2023, and the ranger is the only class where I need to forsake any resemblance of sustain or utility to have enough dmg to scare people off, playing power builds has become increasingly harder on ranger, with sustain being more or less the same...while again other professions now got access to an excessive amount of active defences along with heal burst traits with high base coefficient at 0 Healing power, following is an example: https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Balance_in_Discord Yeah....don't think anything gonna change much for Ranger but I still feel that it's rather.... unsavoury to even login on this class, everything around me it's just a rotation of blocks/healburst with 0 healing powers, vulnerabilities, distortion dragged up to a flat 15s every 30s or so...meanwhile I see myself dodging for dear life 3/4 of the time...and the enemy brazenly facetank any resemblance of damage I can muster when I manage to find a window of opportunity between one block rotation and another. In 2023...and this below, it's all Ranger got to avoid being insta gibbed by a burst: https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Counterattack So you either play a condi bunker or GS build, you cannot have a non GS build outside condi bunker in a competitive environment, pretty restrictive gameplay, and the main reason why the idea of zerg support or zerg bruiser, should be laughed at, this class has zero...0...active defences outside GS, a misstep and you die when ganked...
  20. You are missing the biggest element in your analysis: lack of active defence. This keeps Ranger out of zerg fights and I will make a thread soon to explain why this is a big deal.
  21. It can't be worst than mesmers crying about the lack of distortion first with chronos and then with virtuouso...similar mindset
  22. I have yet to see a single thief on any spec, being cabable of facetanking damage without ever pressing the dodge button....I have yet have too see a single thief blocking, evading damage for what feels like a kittening eternity.....I have yet have too see a single thief going around spamming 111111 on their semi invincible condi bunker spec ..without you can guess, using that dodge button even once...I have yet to see a single thief bursting down while being invulnerable to all sources of damage....I have yet to see a single thief hiding behind a column while a tanky golem deals more dmg than a glass spec.....I have yet to see a single thief going around with their permaboon BS. Never thought I'd see this day as I hate thieves as much as the next guy but...before I see another thief nerf, I want to see the complete stomping and destruction of these blocking, distortion, heal, evasions, condi spamming abusing specs....to see another thief nerf before any of the current atrocities is properly addressed...would be the end
  23. Even as full minstrel ...druid support still lags behind other support specs by 100x miles, which also has access to actual DPS that doesn't disappear as soon as more than 2 people show up to face your team, I still have to see a single commander in the whole game to drop anything to favour even a single druid....taking druid in your 50 man zerg is more of a charity act than actual necessity
  24. Looking at your post history, I can see that you go after every dumb class/spec design in this game and for that, I salute you, it's unusual to see players who openly hate anything dumb because typically GW2 players hate anything dumb...that is not their own class. You mention Weaver....it got cried on, till they nerfed everything that would make a challenge to fight an actual decent weaver... the reason why there were literally no weaver in PvP for at least 2 years prior to catalyst?! You could find weavers in ranked and kitten, but they were 0 weavers both in WvW or AT monthly...after the year-long of nerfs that removed: stability on stance, removed 2/3 of the dmg and sustain, quadrupled the CD of the evade/stunbreak, nerfed Lightning rod trait when weaver players ended up using that trait as a last resort to play ele in PvP. Basically for a typical GW2 player, everything is balanced as long as it doesn't kill them, the moment that happens...it becomes OP: that's the only truth in a MMO these days and with this generation of players...unlike in the past where players were actually competitive by mindsets........But hold on now, let me confirm with you that Catalyst is dumb..but so it's also 90% of this game class design , you can literally program a bot to play half the classes in this game Thieves with Daredevil, deadeye...shadow return, stealth on dodge, stealth/quickness....... Mesmers with spammable distortion, daze/stun from stealth with no tell, Moa form etc etc etc Engineer with perma superspeed/quickness throwing grenades while running and a Mech doing stupid dmg Necromancers with a 2nd HP bar absorbing 50% dmg, an elite applying all condis and giving them all boons..etc Ranger with traits like ancient seeds...etc etc Guardians with literally a thef spec with 4x the sustain and burn burst on top, with 2x the mobility etc etc Revenants with....tanky cheese builds like vindicators and renegade, half of them even forgot where the dodge button is..... Warriors with full counter...2s invulnerability spam now with berserker...shout bladesworn etc etc Again...I salute you for denouncing equally all the dumb designs in this game but let me correct you on one thing: every profession must have access to faceroll builds...or none of them should. I don't see why only ele players should go and struggle to accomplish anything in this game when a newb can jump on another class and do everything by pressing 2-3 buttons off CD. It's just stupid, absurd and arrogant to think like that and just put people off even trying to learn the class. I would be more than fine with deleting Catalyst today...but then I would expect to delete the rest of the dumb designed specs along with it, like: vindicator, renegade, virtuoso, willbender, deadeye, scrapper, mechanist. harbinger. etc etc..all of them...delete of all them and I would be happy to come back really. But in truth, what will happen now is that you will be able to see what I mean for "GW2 players hate everything dumb that it's not their own class" , by the amount of emoji I will get
  25. I can play support DPS with ele and guardian, with revenant...necro and warrior even and ofc engineer, which can support mode and switch to grenades for DPS. It should not be a problem anymore for a druid to be capable of dmg through dps pets, simply because everybody can already
