  1. That's a shame, it'd be great if it was like that one scourge thing that pulls downed to your feet automatically even.
  2. Quick question, can the portal be used by someone who is downed if you want to move them out of a killzone (red circle you can't get into to rez them)?
  3. For "confused" - some folk like me don't enjoy being in WvW as much as others because it turns out some folk have different likes to others. It's like - some love fishing, some hate it. Some are Meh about it. It doesn't make fishing bad, or the people who love it bad, or the people who hate it bad. Things will never appeal to every player. That's why variety is good. My personal preference for a PVE way to get GoB is not a criticism of the people who love WvW (or its overall value) it's just my personal preference. Stuff I like to do would likely bore the knickers off others. That doesn't make either of us bad people. It's okay. Why not have both paths? Choose how you'll do it, do bits of both, please feel free to ask for clarification I know I don't make myself very clear sometimes.
  4. I only do enough WvW to get the battle gift then never bother again, I just find it tedious even with a zerg to follow. It's not tedious to others that's cool = they're different people. Stuff I do like is likely incredibly tedious to them. But if there was another path to the battle gift like maybe going through every single world boss or something like that, I'd do that instead. If not well, I'll pootle about in wvw and listen to podcasts and eat chips and get it over with asap then leave the map to make way for the folk who enjoy to enjoy.
  5. me too, so something odd going on. oh well i guess i'll try again tomozzy
  6. I wanted to name my Sylvari after unique Tasmanian plants and all of them were taken. Every single Tasmanian plant I tried, whatever version of the name, all taken. So on one hand yay other people in Tassie love Sylvari as much as I do but BOO YOU TOOK ALL THE NAMES 😞 On the other hand coming up with names that sound like Skritt invented them is quite fun and my new naming obsession.
  7. Happily I don't want to name any of my future alts "Testera Testingson" any time soon, though if you were so inclined you're welcome to it once the betas are deleted 😄 (seems they are still there, they're showing up on gw2e for me still).
  8. Important! When they're using Air Overload on Tempest with hammer change the animation so it shows the hammer in their hand so it looks extra kitten 😄
  9. if we get a tracksuit it should come with a /squat emote.
  10. The way I did this was, if you have it unlocked, use 'wings of faith' at the top of the bunny jump to launch off, pop onto griffon and land with that. I find landing griffon/glider a bit easier and if you overshoot you don't have to start at the bottom.
  11. Has there been any news at all about the anniversary? I mean I know these guys like to go "SURPRISE! HERE'S THE THING!" out of nowhere but seems like there hasn't really been much I could find about it. I'm kind of holding off buying mount skins in case they launch a new set as part of the celebration, likewise with sales of things like bank upgrades etc. Maybe a new novelty to celebrate 'know it all, done it all' or maybe "this is my twentieth alt" or whatever for the long time accounts but also I hope they do stuff for everyone, not just the ones who've been in 10years - because the celebration isn't just for those players who've been in since launch but the game itself, so having some stuff for everyone is more fair & will create more good vibes.
  12. I know you can dismount in the air because that's how I got the griffon up the broken bits of wall to get the skyscale collection thingy in .. i wanna say blazeridge? I would bounce, demount in mid-air & then griffon to land it. I am... not good at controlling the bunny in the air bless his little wiggly tail so I launch off the bunny then switch to griffon or glider to land somewhere fiddly. I'm using the skill that looks like a set of wings, its one of the achievments that lets you launch off the mounts I am pretty sure that was how I did it. Ahh yes, looking at the wiki it's Bond of Faith. You can launch off the bunny at top height and then griffon up a few flaps to get up that bit higher.
  13. If they wanted to be clever they'd find out a product that gamers might actually want to buy & do a tie-in that doesn't add non-world items to the game. For example like the promo's where you send them art to win a 'gamer chair' what if the company designs an in-game item that looks like it fits into the world and the item description could tie in somehow to the company it's promo is tied to, some competition and a few prizes as well. NOT and I mean NOT having actual coke cans in game, but a kind of clever product placement that doesn't 'stick out'. I'm NOT suggesting I want this in any way but vastly preferable to having the auction house try and shill washing powder to me. If they were going to sell ad space that they don't control I'd rather it be on the login screen and not anywhere in the game itself. I hate un-moderated ads though, they are always garbage products (or scams) and the ads are at best intrusive and at worst actual malware.
  14. An an Old Lady myself, feel free to never 'get gud' because I sure didn't and hasn't stopped me. One tip: sometimes maps end up in the "Complete this maps events" daily achievement rotation and when they do there'll be loads of people around. I'm not sure how often the HoT maps end up on the rotation though, but I've done map completions that way more than once. Sometimes groups will join up to go do all the hero-points together right after the map meta & will sometimes complete events they come across so having those timers handy helps and if nobody starts a group asking about it often gets a few players keen to go on a hero point map cruise. I've also seen people asking in populated maps like lion's arch if they need help with a specific thing in another map, since there's often players idling there goofing off fussing with their bank or just wondering what to do next. I've joined ppl asking for help there, not been much help to them but well I tried 😄
  15. I think that might be one of the problems I'd had - I have achievements unlocked to say I was there for the fall of LA and I don't remember much about it probably because it only happened once where I've replayed other bits countless times. I remember the vote to rebuild though and the opening of the new LA. I hope the reworking of the LS1 includes seeing those old maps and playing their events again, it might jog some memories. I honestly thought I'd missed LS1 until I found a sonic periscope in one of the replay chapters and it jobbed my memory form the depths. I didn't think I'd played the karka stuff until Oh yeh I remember that Karka Queen fight and the literal hundreds of dead player icons all yelling various memes into the chat. I wonder if we'll get that chapter again too. I remember sitting up on a wall somewhere watching that thing roll entire zergs into dust. Good times. Absolutely was not going to go anywhere near that fight my one main was like in blues because repairs were so expensive then. I'm glad they changed that tbh, armour damage in single player games doesn't bother me but where you need to keep up with a group in real time it's really annoying because if you suck as much as I do you only ever get progressively less useful to a moving zerg if you cant repair easily.
  16. I always love the weird stuff too numerous to mention but: The time I scrabbled up to the top of a building in Lion's Arch and there was a tiny stage up there and a player had their toon 'naked' and dancing on it. The time someone got everyone at a world boss fight to put on the apple icon. The ONE TIME I got a key from a mob drop. OH, the time someone set a trap in front of some event enemy who went "DIE!" then the trap went off the NPC faceplanted with this loud cartoon splat sound effect and I fully literally fell off my chair laughing. I for real pass out when I laugh too hard that nearly killed me. Tybalt. (should combine the apple icon map party with a Tybalt tribute and do a yearly thing if you ask me) Finishing chalice of tears the first time. Getting the griffon. Getting the gold scarf from beetle racing. Working on Skyscale currently. The first time I cheesed a vista with the bunny, got to the top of an incredibly high mountain (somewhere in timberline i think) - dismounted off the edge & fell to my death while viewing the vista so I got to watch my own body plummet down the cliff until again I nearly passed out laughing. It's all the dumb little things that keep me going back, sure the plot blah blah big fights okay but it's the little things really make it. Also if someone finds my body next to the computer it's probably going to be this thing's fault. Sorry in advance I guess.
  17. On the other hand I love it doing that, I glide around specifically to trigger it constantly. I'd argue for making it something you toggle on/off? So those of us who're specifically using it can continue doing so, and ppl who find it annoying can turn it off.
  18. This is the most fun I've had with a new spec during a beta. Work has been a bit stressful so I was not in a great mood, loaded it up and thought "oh hum I don't play engie much let's see" and within about 20min I was laughing so hard I was in actual physical pain. The mech going into the sky and crashing back down every time I glide - DO NOT CHANGE THIS EVEN A TINY BIT!!! This was the best thing ever. The damage is astonishing, the constant stream of "get out of there" "incoming!" *crash* 'SQUEAK!?' and ability to send everything flying by gliding into encounters (triggering the crashdown) was just so glorious I will saw my own head off if this is nerfed. Games should be FUN, and this was some of the best fun I've had all year. The ONLY thing I'd change is echo the calls for being able to dye it (to distinguish mine in a group) and for the names to use numbers and persist between loads. Also underwater mech plz. I could live without all that though if the mech stays just as it is for damage, liftoff gliding/crash. My temporary sylvari has sent so much poor defenceless wildlife flying the gods probably think Mordremoth came back to life.
  19. I don't normally play warrior so I am biased in the sense this whole playstyle is a bit unfamiliar to me but this felt so engie that I gave it a try. Interesting I have to say, involved enough to keep me interested at least. I normally main ele so complicated doesn't bother me. I went off to do some dragon response bosses solo to see how it played. Things I felt: I loved the ability to absolutely wreck boss adds, as well as take chunks of health off but I had to use every stability utility possible to keep it from being interrupted. I found it easier to be somewhat ranged and I had a lot easier time ranged with the rifle than up close (because the npc's were soaking up the attention mostly). The only problem I had was the cooldown to get back to rifle was a bit long, left me standing waiting for something to do because the gunblade is really melee other than 4. Would love the ability to stow it more quickly if getting back to ranged weapon? I was using the gunblade mostly to get stuff off of me if needed to get back out to ranged again. Which is probably not how it was intentioned but don't care as I was having loads of fun, I can see a lot of people wanting to stow it faster so I'll say yes please, for ranged it's really useful to get back to the ranged weapon quickly. As for flow the one thing I wanted most was to be able to keep ammo. I feel like tech should hold charges, being tech. Would be then able to charge up on trash and hit a boss hard right out of the gate, also that's how a lot of the story encounters already play you get a bunch of smaller things then a boss so it'd be really rewarding to clear the small stuff and have a full or even part charge to hit hard with. Then I wouldn't care how fast or slow 'flow' built up. As it was I would build up a bunch of flow on adds or trash and then couldn't use it because they were dead by then and by the time the boss had run their monologue it had flowed away, so the ability to use even some of it to store some would rock pretty hard. In fact that would own so much I'd have to pay it rent. Anyway keep up the good work everyone stay safe up there in the northern hemi see yas from Australia.
  20. I'll start with I love elementalist and you'd literally have to make it cause me actual real life pain for me to even dislike it so I am somewhat biased. I also play melee tempest and melee spellweaver on 2 alts with a third waiting for this new spec. I love the new weapon, my new ele Norn is going love hauling a hammer around. I agree some of the comments to give it more really weighty animations too because why not. Things I'd tweak - I find the little energy bar on the f5 skill to be a bit hard to see, wondering if it would benefit from being more like the druid one that sits over the stamina bars? I like the F5 being static, although staying still is usually the death of the ele the ability to place it where the zerg is to share boons is also awesome, as is being able to stand off to the side and staff cast if the zerg is too big to join (because I can't see if lots of things are happening at once on screen). As for the energy if we're asking for wishes I'd also love for it to sit at 50% when out of battle, just so I can start with something 'in the bank', but I'll be happy anyway. I just get annoyed when tech drains to zero (adrenaline i can understand draining but tech should hold charge, its tech after all put a battery in it). The little 3 skill balls are a bit of a mixed bag, because they're moving they're only hitting things when they pass through them, maybe they could leave a trail or form a ring while they're moving too? Regardless I'm going to have a lot of fun and will now spend an inordinate amount of time collecting hammer skins because it's one weapon I've entirely neglected until now. Much love and good luck with the release.
  21. One of my early favourites was during the order of whispers sylvari mission that you rescue someone from pirates by getting drunk and telling her the plan was "run for it" she replies with "No wonder it's called the Order of Whispers... Nobody would brag about this."
  22. I love mounts. I don't know how I survived so long without the bunny. hugs bunny Oh bunny mount, you make map completion so much fun! And Griffon, so worth the effort it takes to get it! SO much fun to just build up speed and zoom around maps. No more wasting money on waypoints. Timberline falls was already my fav map for gliding, but with griffon it takes on another level of wow. I agree it'd be fun to see some more meta's in the main POF maps, or some more group events like the casino ones, where it's not necessarily a fight but players work together - particularly big events where various parts of the map all need help and some co-ordination. Just not too many of the auric basin "whoops someone did 1hp more damage than they should have now you have 1 minute to not fail this whole thing" though. Not that I don't like AB's meta but wow it's touchy. (are there meta's for the other maps in pof?) .... I think the only thing I gripe about in GW2 lately is there's too much nerfing in PVE - nerf PVP all you want I couldn't care less about it - but leave PVE awesomeness alone, sometimes it's nice to kick a bit of butt! We're not all uber el3te g00nlord sockpoopers. Some of us are old women with bad eyesight and terrible reflexes!
  23. I enjoy but I would love to see more maps without overkill mobs/fights and more group events that are other kinds of fun rather than kill/bitey/hurt/death. Something out there, different, requires help but isn't reliant on everyone being able to survive the worst of everything or getting ganked all the time. That way more new ppl can join in without as much experience/gear and some new types of events might be fun to explore the other game mechanics in group and let individuals explore somewhere beautiful and rest and take awesome screenies and be generally a bit more chill than the "oh shit everything wants me dead all the time everywhere" ever other level 80 map is, which is fine, but sometimes a change of pace is nice too. We need a silly, fun map full of dumb games and goofing off.
