  1. People who are coming in here spitting the contrarian tryhard "it sounds like a you problem" attitude are the ones getting lucky. Some of us aren't. I've done this at least 5 times and every single time its failed. I recognise the issues, (being that people are still learning; it's only week 1) but everyone's experiences are different. Soo-won had this same problem and now its easier once everyone got a hang of what to do.

It doesn't do damage by your standards but it does *some* damage, minimal as it may be. Its not nothing diddly squat at all. Yes autoing is higher in damage I concede but its still something. The scaling is annoying but its more annoying when people are just standing there, having tagged once and choose to die/not WP.

  3. Duress has this as well. I had to look up when SOTO was released and its almost been a full year; 1337 is the change with the new year if I understand how the journal dates work. Its a reflection of change in time from irl.

    I think.

The skyscale and turtle don't do any damage compared to if someone was simply autoattacking a boss so it's always annoying to see someone just on their skyscale tossing fireballs while I'm doing all the work.

This is a double edged sword. On one hand I tell people to get off their Skyscales because I too value teamwork, but on the other: my friend's counter argument is at least they're not just *standing there* and doing nothing at all. Which happened (happens?) a lot on Drakkar. I don't like it either but its a nuanced thing.

I had more fun playing Warrior Pre SotO.

man do I feel that. I ended up swapping to Guardian/Firebrand and I haven't looked back. I didn't like what the relic/rune changes did to my zerker build. >:I

  6. I started playing gw2 when I was 19, and I'm 29 now. This expansion is the first time I've seen the game get to the point where I'm considering leaving and not coming back for the next one. The quality was just... yikes.

  7. The issue here for me isn't so much the design, as it is the marketing team dropping the ball here (or whoever makes these videos. I'm happy to be corrected).

It's not showcased enough to really get anyone mind-blown. The shots are too short, from a singular angle, and you have the three characters huddled together which makes that effect explosion way too overpowering, no less on a foggy background where the white relatively blends in and makes details... obscured (I hate myself for that pun, eesh). I would have loved a long video that gave the armor types a stand alone preview with the camera panning around it and from a safe distance where our eyes don't get flashbanged.

Overall, I'm not too sold but I'll end up getting it for completion sakes. I can make this work for one of my characters at least. Or who knows, maybe it'll look better in-game when we get to see it in the wardrobe and on our characters with our chosen palette and running around in the world with it. I'll remain optimistic, despite the resounding sentiment being overwhelmingly negative because videos- sometimes like screenshots- don't really do these things justice unlike when you see it yourself-- pending who does the presentation of course. Sadly its a hard miss here.

  8. Yeah I use salvage kits myself and tend to get quite a few per rare salvage which seems to be standard practice. I suppose I could narrow my question down to what items might be most ideal for ectoplasm- if it isn't just rare unidentified or even exotic drops in which case welp, I guess I've been doing it right this whole time lol.

PS: thank ye for the insight ofc, y'all.

You could always go play Monster Hunter.  Why would Anet want to do something that's already be done well.

Because this might open up potential exposure to a wider audience who might've never heard of GW2 before, or even Monster Hunter as a whole. Anet is particularly bad at marketing the game, and this would help. It'd bring in new players from both, and we might actually get neat fights for both games as well, or at least collaboration items.

  10. The semi realism of Monster Hunter would mesh well with GW2 and capcom love their crossovers but I think this one would beeeee.... a bit of a mess, honestly. The mechanics would have to be dialled down by at least 50% to fit GW2's hybrid tab action combat and anyone who would be fighting Rathalos for the first time ever in their lives, especially in GW2 would have issues with how dexterous he is (melee have a hard time as it is with things that move a lot). Also we can assume his bleeding, burning and poison ticks would hurt like hell. O_o Matriarch and Patriarch are bad enough as it is (which is essentially our version of Rathalos and Rathian).

Have a random video since people need/want an elaboration.

  11. I get whiplash from warlords of draenor (WoW's expansion in 2014) any time someone mentions time travel. It's a concept that is rarely done right and is a risk to fall under scrutiny.

Fractals definitely explore the past and the what ifs but I don't think I'd want to see an expansion where it might impact the current timeline.

  12. I first had that malaise myself when I heard the news but at this point until its confirmed by Anet that its happening, I really am not gonna let it deter me because I play this game for me and my time spent plus the money spent in it hasn't felt wasted. Even if GW3 is a thing I wouldn't feel regret because it was worth it to me, and furthermore we don't know if it's an MMO or a stand alone singleplayer title so it might not even have an effect on 2. Kinda like how FF has 16 installations at this point and two (?) of them are MMOs but the rest of them are Singleplayers and I'm pretty sure 11 is still alive and kicking despite 14 being the bigger successor. I mean hell, GW1 is still thriving alongside 2, so GW3 (if its an MMO) might share that same synchronicity. Yeah it means no more content updates but there's still plenty to do, especially if a new player comes into it late, there's 10+ years of content to sink their teeth into and enjoy.

  13. I think we are due to bring the power creep in line. Too often I see people in core maps making comments at the 80s nuking events, and not getting participation.
That said it is old content, but it shouldn't be nuked into irrelevancy like WoW has with its legacy content (its a ghost town in most maps in that game and its actually somewhat unnerving there isn't a soul to be seen til Dragonflight these days).

Oh no. These fresh teams literally tossed the wow lore/narrative to the fires of Teldrasil along with the voice acting, map design, dialogue, iconic characters, ingame immersion, etc.

    We don't talk about Danuser.

Before i made characters as small as possible so it looks that they run faster (before we had mounts)

its neat that height affects the mount run animation as well. Small mounts appear to be running faster than big ones who have longer strides. It's a nice touch and a clever gimmick.

  16. I live in Australia and seem to be experiencing packet loss out of nowhere for the last couple days. I know factually its not my internet: everything else I run and play that's not GW2 has been running perfectly fine all day, and hubs has been playing WoW with no issues either. I logged off this morning and logged back on tonight hoping that it stabilised but just went to Amnytas and it shot to 1k+ out of nowhere before I became hard d/c'd and crashed to desktop.

Dunno if its just me but throwing this up for anyone who might be OCE/SEA and suffering the same problem since reset-ish.
