They did with Kuunavang what they did with Braham and Ryland in Icebrood Saga, where they took on physical attributes related to their respective dragons while they were Champions. Bangar too, I suppose.

The writers definitely seem to be building this character up for something in the future. Unless it’s just to add a little more depth and dimension to the new cast, it definitely seems like Waiting Sorrow will be important one day. Also pretty sure Arina will be big in future updates concerning the third map. I haven’t finished SotO quite yet though, so not sure if she factors into the ending somehow.

I could easily see him being part of the Wizard’s Court, if they wanted to answer that question in this expansion.

Would definitely love to see these two tied into a future story somehow. One having joined the wizards, and another having ventured out into the world in search of other sylvari trees. If they ever pick up Malyck’s plotline or Duchess Chrysanthea’s NM court faction again, that would be a suitable time to bring in one of those characters too. The writers could do pretty much anything with those two firstborn though. The only hint we’ve had about them I believe is an instance I can’t think of that showed one was male and the other female, and suggested one was a light armor class and the other medium. Whether or not the writers would stick to those details I couldn’t say. The instance itself was a bit of an “unreality” thing iirc so it could be handwaved that way.

Yeah, I feel similarly to OP. I am excited and curious about the new expansion, but I find it pretty depressing we seem to be leaving Cantha half-explored. There are a lot of characters I was really curious to explore more, and big world events we could’ve participated in like Empress Ihn meeting world leaders in mainland Tyria. I wanted a lot more Kuunavang, more lore and development for Tetra, and to explore a lot of areas on the map. Heck, there were a lot of little hints at things going on all over Cantha. Not impossible we’ll return there one day in a new expansion, but the move does feel sudden and unceremonious - especially with Gyala episodes being incredibly tepid experiences for the most part. We should see some minor Canthan tie-ins as the sky islands seem to have biomes reflecting various lands we’ve visited, but I doubt it will be anything substantial.

Getting a Bastion of the Penitent type story about Evennia’s fate might be interesting. Not in raid form, but maybe a side adventure. Someone In Need was a fun collection that answered the question of what happened to King Jadon, so something similar for Evennia could work out.

Based off the images you provided, I imagine a redesigned Eir wouldn't look very different. The changes between all of these NPC looks are not very drastic. They all retain the same color palette and aesthetic for the most part. Logan is still in polished armor. Kasmeer still looks like a regal/beautiful lady. Marjory has a black and green goth aesthetic. Rox sticks to pretty warm/earthy tones. I imagine Eir would have retained a norn aesthetic to her clothing similar to Braham. Probably the same neutral palette to let her red hair pop against it. It's too bad Eir died the way she did. Pretty anticlimactic, and I think she could have had an interesting arc running concurrently with Braham. In theory it's interesting to imagine how Eir would have handled him becoming Primordus' champion.

Absolutely against the idea of them resurrecting Abaddon somehow. I doubt that's what we're seeing anyway, but it would be such a cheap act to pull. Very "Somehow, Palpatine returned." Abaddon was stopped in GW1. Let that be the end of it. Menzies would be an apt divine/demonic antagonist. Maybe Kanaxai, if we really need to mine something pre-existing for this. Otherwise I'm perfectly happy for this to be a new threat we've never encountered before across either game.

Do the Someone In Need collection to learn about April and the Mesmer Collective! It’s really good and likely has relevance to the new expansion.

They added it on Tuesday’s patch. There wasn’t really a notification for it though, but it’s a new chapter in the story tab that you have to activate.

I can picture a hypothetical where she stays for the ladies’ wedding, and they use that as the opening set piece with Aurene’s departure afterward. Though part of me thinks they’ll be straight to the point with this expansions opening. Really feels like that event should be the true closing chapter of EoDs vs the opening to what seems to be a stand alone expansion. Otherwise I’m curious to see who will be the major companions of this expansion. Zojja clearly, but Gorrik and Rama seem set up to be big reoccurring characters as they investigate under B&S.

I loved the instance, though it made me sad. I really enjoyed Aurene's VA's performance too. She sounded tired and ready to nap. I did find it jarring that there wasn't some big cutscene sending her off. She's been the centerpiece of the entire franchise, so if this is really the last time we'll see her before her slumber, it feels... incredibly insufficient. Perhaps the next expansion will open with something to that effect? Hard to imagine an instance without an actual ending is all the devs have to send her off with... The sunset effect was also very pretty in the instance.

I am guessing the mesmer collective may tie into Secrets of the Obscure. I wonder if the mysterious member that is projecting themselves from somewhere is the wizard of the tower? People speculated they were a djinn but never received confirmation. They met the mysterious person near Wizard’s Tower, to boot!

Before I even realized she was in the key art for the expansion, I was thinking “oh man, Zojja is absolutely the apprentice of the wizard in the tower!” after watching the trailer. Super excited for this reason alone! Rest of the expansion sounds great too so far. Wonder if they got Felicia Day back to voice her?

I wonder how worthwhile this story is considered to the writers. Outside of lore enthusiasts, I have a hard time believing the majority of players even know about E. I certainly didn’t until I became active on the forum years past. If the writers do bring E back, it either needs to be a subtle side story that can satisfactorily answer the questions enthusiasts have without taking up too much space so as not to confuse the general playerbase, or they really have to reintroduce and build up the character concept for new/‘average’ players as part of the main plot so it makes sense and feels relevant. Maybe I’m over complicating it, but if it ever happens, I feel like it would need to be the exact right moment with the exact right amount of focus for it to “work.”

Maybe they’re just the ink blots the commander’s psychologist is going to use for their future therapy sessions. 😛

Did we learn anything definitively new about The All in EoDs? I’m struggling to remember. Is there a clear answer to how Aurene balances The All alone? Just that she filters and returns the magic?
