  1. Sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic. I think the most interesting looks and themes are those that subvert expectations. For example, my holosmith's backstory is that he has fought the mist war for so long that he is having trouble reforming his body after being killed. He has implanted zephyrite crystals directly into his body and engineered a photon forge directly into his hands so he can draw and channel energy from the aspects.
  2. What a horrible build. You take Gadgeteer for a single skill. You take power wrench, but don't take the other traits in explosives that buff your dodge. You take a bunch of turrets, but no kits so you have to rely on shortbow for damage. Really, shortbow. I guess you plan is to exist on point, don't do anything, and then respawn talking about how they "unleashed a monster." I'd be embarrassed to play this build in open world, much less in pvp.
  3. Is there an internal CD? If I hammer 5 then hammer 3, does it proc 4 times? Edit: 1s ICD, you get 2-3 procs of bunker down if you delay hammer 3 for 1 second. Bunker Down crits for about 1300, which isn't amazing. That said, something like Static Shock can proc both Static Discharge and Bunker Down at the same time. That's only 3k damage vs a normal opponent. Is that supposed to be good? Edit #2: I think the main issue with bunker down is the opportunity cost. The rest of Inventions is not great, especially now that Automated Medical Response was killed. I'd honestly rather just take Firearms to cap my crit if I really didn't want to take Tools or Alchemy.

  5. Do you play on NA or EU? NA. What team were you on during January 12-26? Titan's Staircase. What team were you on during January 26-February 2? Dragon's Claw. If there is a day of the week and time of day you usually play, what are they? Weekday mornings before noon CST. Did your world restructuring matchups feel more or less balanced than your regular WvW Server matches? More balanced. Did you select a WvW Guild for the beta? Yes, but it was my personal guild with only me. Was your guild part of a larger alliance guild? No. Were there usually commanders around during your normal playtime? No. Which week felt most balanced and enjoyable for you? Week 1. What part of world restructuring felt the most well executed? Nothing. There is nothing interesting about destroying what little server identity we have left. Links are already horrible in that it takes time for us to get used to a new link, and then we get a new link. "Restructuring" makes this issue even worse. Every new matchup throws us into a server with people we don't know and don't care about. Why would I waste my time scouting for tags that I don't know would actually act on my callouts? Why would I jump in to save someone from a gank squad if I don't know they are worth saving? WvW does not have good rewards for solo roamers, nor did it need to. We play because we enjoy the fights and the people. Take away the people, and all we have a bad fights with and against people we don't even know. Might as well be fighting npcs. What part of world restructuring feels like it has the most room for improvement? Making sure each matchup has good coverage for all time zones. The last few weeks of beta felt horrible. There were very few people playing during the day.
  6. There is a holo PBM + flamethrower build for zergs that does just fine:
  7. I feel exactly the same. I hate weapon swapping, and was extremely disappointment when they took the easy way out and gave Rev weapon swap instead of actually balancing the class. One of the only reasons I still play this game after a decade is exactly because I can play a class without weapon swap. If I wanted weapon swap, I'd play the numerous other classes that have it.
  8. I play Engineer specifically because it does not have weapon swap. It doesn't need it, and thematically feels better because of it. They already took the easy way out when they added weapon swap to Revenant. I'd probably stop playing the game if they added weapon swap to Engineer.
  9. Holo Leap has a huge aftercast and root underwater. It's almost an entire second long, while terrestrial Holo Leap does not have this aftercast and root. The only way to play around this bug is to cancel the animation by leaving Photon Forge. The aftercast should be removed, or at least don't root the character in place during the after cast.
  10. Not sure why you are confused. Decent players can 2 or 3 v 1 a celestial roamer pretty easily. I do this every day. However, most of the complaints we see are the result of people seeing a bunch of bad players being unable to kill a single celestial roamer. This doesn't mean celestial is "balanced," but the problem is not as acute as some people would have you believe. I don't entirely disagree with your second thought. If a stat combo is not fun to fight against, and makes roaming generally less fun, it probably shouldn't exist.
  11. That's the thing about roaming, isn't it? People like to pretend that it's a series of 1v1 duels, but in reality it's almost never balanced like that unless the map is absolutely dead. Solo roaming in particular places a premium on mobility and burst damage over sustain since no one can survive vs a group no matter how much celestial they stack. The issue is that most roamers see enemies as content, and it always feels bad when content is *not* killable simply because they chose a tanky stat. This is further exacerbated by the fact that the average player in wvw is absolutely horrible, so you'll see situations where an experienced cele roamer tanks 4-5 bad players forever. I personally dislike cele because of the way cele players act. They are actively stacking a stat that makes 1v1 fights slow and bad, but then get offended when no one wants to fight them. Yes, I'll walk away from a 1v1 vs a cele roamer. Yes, I'll shadow that roamer until he runs into someone else so I can +1. No, I don't feel bad that I killed him. Welcome to wvw, and thanks for the packet of salt. Edit: A word.
  12. Food: Dodge food. You need more dodges to avoid damage and manage heat. Light density amplifier vs Prismatic converter: Light density amp is not good. The 15% damage reduction isn't a good payoff for destroying your heat and condi management. Invigorating speed vs. Protection Injection: You need the perma vigor to manage heat and get more dodges. Protection Injection doesn't have enough uptime to be worth it. TBH, your build is all over the place. You are using pistol on a power build. You are using elixir u and prime light beam but have less than 2200 power and and only 183% crit damage. You need to remember that roaming is a different beast than other pvp modes. You need to have the mobility to disengage at will or chase. You also need the damage to quickly kill someone before the enemy gank squad catches up to you. No amount of toughness or damage reduction is going to let a holosmith fight 1v5 for any amount of time.
  13. Just an update on the Crystal Dragon disconnect issue: I finally finished the instance without getting DCed at the cutscene. I started a previous story chapter (to wipe progress on the current chapter), and then switch back to the current chapter. This is more than likely what fixed it. I also made sure to not be in photon forge mode when the cutscene started, and to keep spamming skills/buttons while the cutscene played. I'm pretty sure these last two didn't matter, though, and the main fix is to just reset progress on the current chapter.
  14. I've had exactly the same thing. I've tried to finish the mission four times now and the exact same every time. Deleted the cache, restarted PC, checked ports, etc. but still the issue persists. This was brought up in January and received a 'we're looking into it' response, nothing since. That's about a negligent as it's possible to a developer to be. Same issue as @athos.9034 is having by the looks of things. I've been trying to finish the Crystal Dragon instance for a few weeks now. I get DCed at the same time as everyone else during the final cutscene. I've tried repairing my client, spamming abilities during the cutscene, etc. It's pretty ridiculous that there is such a huge game breaking bug, and there is literally zero communication. I'm not sure what we are supposed to do once the new chapter comes out. Do we come on the forums and keep asking for a fix, and risk getting spoilers? Or do we just turn off chat in game, don't go to any fansites, and hope that Anet will fix this eventually?
