skyscale Weapon collection [Merged]
Cronos.6532 replied to Shadows Creed.3902's topic in Guild Wars 2 Discussion
Yeah, that means you'd have to do 1,800 more Convergences (one per day for five years) unless you get incredibly lucky. They should add more sources for them. -

Adventure Guide should be hidden after completion

With the non-Steam version it doesn't auto-login so there's one more click, especially since ArenaNet removed autologin options. -
Adventure Guide: Volume One
Cronos.6532 replied to Hesione.9412's topic in Bugs: Game, Forum, Website
Correct. It is intended that it's character-bound because completing it provides significant experience bonuses in the form of consumables. The idea is that every character can be levelled at the same speed by completing these achievements, rather than just your first character. Agreed that it's super annoying if you're already an existing player though -
The achievements Completing Story Chapters I, II, and III in the Adventure Guide autocomplete if you're on a character that has already done them. Compelting Story Chapters IV doesn't autocomplete, so it's impossible to complete on characters that have already done it. It's a character-specific achievement, too, so it blocks progress.

Let us transfer our account to Steam

Need to enter Gw2 login details or 2FA from time to time (less of a big deal if it's remembered and only one account is used on your computer) Can't use Steam to buy expansions and gems More payment types, faster purchases, can effectively buy things for free Don't get Steam Points for purchases Harder to install / set up Guild Wars 2 on Steam Deck Can't do Steam Remote Play as easily Can't share screenshots with friends as easily Can't get community controller configs for the game Fewer settings are synced (in theory) No Steam Trading Cards as a rebate on purchases (not something ANet as set up) The list goes on. On the bright side, you can buy Gw2 on a Steam account and gift your main account someGem Store purchases. -
Is it worth starting over with guild wars 2 on steam
Cronos.6532 replied to Davidm.2419's topic in Players Helping Players
If you're pretty new I would say so yeah If you've been playing non-stop for a few months or have hundreds of hours logged probably not -
How will new players know this before they log 1,000 hours into the Steam version? Steam is gonna be the default for a lot of new players since that's what people tend to check for first. And of course, the best of both worlds is to have it work on the Steam version so that you can benefit from Steam's features as well. Strangely, there are both pros to being a Steam user and pros to being a non-Steam user.

That's exactly the problem. We know this is a restriction of Steam accounts, but the restriction—a somewhat critical one for some players—is hidden away in FAQ so as to not turn away prospective players. Either way, increased communication would still leave players upset. Easier to fix the root of the problem.

They'll still miss out on: many sales from existing and returning players, believe it or not a smaller transaction fee from Digital River / PayPal / credit card companies when purchases are made in the non-Steam version ArenaNet, while still a business, isn't as bloodthirstily profit-driven as other MMO companies, so it's weird that they're doing something so anti-player this time around.
