  1. Edit: I made this post before reading the new patchnotes. That was a funny surprise, thanks for fixing it! The lightning in the character select screen is still the very same we had in the PoF era. It tints the characters in a dark red which clashes hard with the light midday background and doesn't fit at all. Please change it to something more appropriate. It may be a detail, but it's one of the first things you encounter when starting the game and I find it disheartening that apparently no attention is paid to it. You can even reuse the lightning from the HoT or original CSS, both should work better than what we have now. The text bubble background is also still the same as in PoF, but it kinda fits the cherry blossom tree, so it's not as disruptive.
  2. In all honesty I don't see how these are substantial buffs to Power Reaper. Damage increases to staff, dagger, shouts etc. are all very nice, but none of them are part of the build and the few changes that actually affect (namely GS and shroud autoattack) it are rather small. Reaper with perfect Thief rune uptime has less dps than Herald, but somehow Herald gets at least 8% more damage in traits alone while Reaper's total gain will be less than 5%. You mentioned you wanted to improve ranged weapons and make players benefit more from teaming up, but axe (ranged weapon with lots of vulnerability application aka 'good for the group') is hardly worth taking over staff now. Another famous 5% dmg increase on that wouldn't have hurt. Please consider giving Reaper a little more love.
  3. Well, for what it's worth, I appreaciate you speaking out against this behavior. 🙂
  4. Oversimplification and exaggeration. It's a stylistic device, you should look it up.
  5. Right? Like, I get people disagreeing. I presented my my stance on the topic and why I interpreted things as I did, others may see it differently and that's to be expected. But the amount of people commenting without bothering to read and understand my post first, ignoring economic basics and straight up insulting me in various ways like I called for their pets to be murdered surprised me a little bit. Kinda funny for a community that prides itself to be the friendliest.
  6. Actually, the post has an upvote rate of 62% and you will find lots of comments both agreeing and disagreeing. I'd say the minds are pretty split. Also, I never backpadeled on my stance. The entire second half of my ~10 sentences post (excluding edit) explains that the presentation of gen 3 as accessible multi-skin legendaries is the reason why I feel the variants should be less than 400g. But yeah, apparently some people never bothered to read my post before commenting on my outrageous criticism...
  7. While it's true that some legendary items, namely armor and trinkets, are taking a good while to acquire, it is important to point out a few things. 1. WvW rewards structure has always been atrocious and should never be used as an example. 2. Trinkets and armor take longer for a good reason - they are way more useable. 3. Despite armor being more useable, for the same time and price you can craft all three sets of legendary armor, you only get 3 weapons - hardly balanced. 4. Legendary weapons so far only ever had negligible timegates, gen 3 and the variants have hard timegates and soft timegates mixed with kitten RNG which makes the economy balance out much slower and increases prices unnecessarily. 5. My main complaint isn't about the legendary weapons being expensive, not even about the variants being too expensive, but the variants being too expensive despite there having been implications to the opposite before release.
  8. Sorry, I forgot about the guaranteed chest drops, my bad. Thanks for clarifying!
  9. Would be cheaper than crafting new legendaries? Yes, it is. If it wasn't, the statement as a whole wouldn't be necessary. If they hadn't said anything, it would be expected that a variant would be just another legendary which is why they clarified that a) it's a skin, not a functional weapon, and b) it won't cost "tons of resources" meaning the usual cost of a fully fledged legendary. Now whether that means 1.200g, 400g or 100g is open to subjective interpretation. In my opinion 1.600g baseline + 400g per variant is still "tons of resources", but perhaps not in yours or Anet's.
  10. The quote I used at the top. https://www.guildwars2.com/en/news/a-closer-look-at-the-guild-wars-2-end-of-dragons-legendary-weapons/ ("So all those amazing greatswords Chelsea showed us are really just the same greatsword attuned to different magics, and you won’t have to worry about spending tons of resources making and remaking these weapons.)
  11. While it is true that new stuff is always the most expensive on release, the price for variants isn't just high - it is increasing. As you said, it's about supply and demand. Let's look at Aurene's Memory for example. The daily limit on that is 27 if you do all three meta events. A single skin takes 250, all variants for one weapon 1500. That's two months of farming ~2h daily just for that. And Runestones are even worse with only two guaranteed drops per day, the rest being left to RNG (and the droprate is pretty low), yet you need 200 of them. There's a huge discrepancy between supply and demand. And yes, in time demand will go down, but so will the supply. Population is the highest after a new release and right now, metas like Dragon's End are actively farmed, but that won't last forever. And of course I didn't buy EoD just because of the legys, but it was a factor. It's also not about a "perceived" discount - they outright said the variants would be cheaper.
  12. Right now, a single variant skin costs around 400g to make (plus karma and spirit shards). That's nearly half of what a generation 1 legendary costs (around 900g). Even worse, trading history of the required materials like Jade Runestones suggests the price for variants will only ever increase in the future and that's all despite gen 3 having the most expensive legendaries already. Before and after the release of EoD the variants were presented as a major feature and selling point of both the expansion and the legendaries themselves, emphasizing that we wouldn't have "to worry about spending tons of resources making and remaking these weapons". Now, I can only speak for myself, but for me - and I suspect many others as well - this was a big factor in making the decisions of whether or not to buy EoD and whether or not to make an Aurene legendary (instead of a gen 1 or gen 2 legendary). Now I feel mislead. Anet, please reduce the needed amount of materials or add new sources for them.
