  3. I don't play all that much anymore but got back into the game today and it didnt work on linux (the only experience i have). I looked over the previous linux_forum_thread and although it has plenty of information it is mostly just a mix of experiences and less focus on a solution, and that will be the goal of this post. Some considerations before starting: - i have gw2 working at both machines with gentoo and arch but i will provide instruction to only arch/pacman because in gentoo i use my own tree with my own ebuilds to compile wine etc ... - i only have amd cards but i dont believe there is any difference to nvida ones since the problems are within the software layer and not drivers - as a shortcut to installing the needed 32 bit libraries you can just install wine-staging with "pacman -S wine-staging", this will install wine-staging and its package dependencies, after that i would advice removing wine (leaving the dependencies) because that version is not patched and it wont work and if you set and incorrect PATH you will be using the system wide version (that pacman just installed) while thinking that you are using the correct one, so to make life a little better just "pacman -R wine-staging" and keep the lib32 dependencies - make sure you have the necessary lib32 drivers installed, if you use nvidia they will already be there (almost 100% sure on this but i dont have nvidia cards), if you use open source amd drivers you will need lib32-vulkan-radeon and lib32-mesa that you can get with "pacman -S lib32-mesa lib32-vulkan-radeon" After i testing for a couple of hours i basically found 2 problems that were the reasons for the crashes, they are both independent from one another so lets start with the simpler one to fix: a) tls support it seems the new coherentui version requires tls (most likely for https) and some distros (both arch and gentoo suffered from this) dont install 32 bit library for tls support, the fix is easy just install lib32-gnutls with something like: pacman -S lib32-gnutls b) child window support this is the bigger problem, not wanting to bore you with the technical details a feature is required of wine that is not in main or a staging patch, there is an old patch that was merged into the proton wine fork in this commit, and this one (the commit one) can be merged into modern wine (after staging patches)(i tried this in gentoo and it work no problem with wine-staging), but if you dont want to have this patching/compiling work you can go with the builds at proton_ge (anything above 21 should work) since they all have the patch. using this builds was already recommended by other people but it didnt work for some (me included), after reading the code it became apparent that the reason is patches manages surfaces, long story short it uses x11 extensions that do not come as wine-staging dependencies, and the way wine works can be resumed to "if i cant find it just 'fixme' and move along" in an attempt to make it work, this makes somethings work even when not everything is implemented but it also makes errors harder to debug, anyway, the fix is easy enough it will require 2 extra libraries in order to make the patch work, to get them just go with: pacman -S lib32-libxcomposite lib32-libxinerama this setup (of proton_ge) can either be use with lutris or you can write a simple bash script where you: - export PATH to the ../bin/ folder inside the wine distribution - export WINEPREFIX to where you want it to be generated - set other configurations for DXVK and WINE, like ESYNC etc ... as you please - run the executable i personally have a script for this but thats irrelevant for the problems themselfs, and it required zero alteration after the above fixes. i haven't read the scripts offered on the previous packages of wine from the other linux thread in the forum, but i would guess that if you fix the PATH to the new wine (patched) they will very likely work just fine, in case you want an example to copy from. after setting up a wine that as the patch (as indicated above) and fixing the referred dependencies gw2 works fine, no problem on different machines and distros. i hope this helps and if anyone finds anything to add pls do. ty for your time. bn
  4. have dagger 3 do something, my suggestion would be projectile reflection/destruction, so there is some gameplay to following within the dagger storm for defense, or something else, maybe something block related for synergy with the traits, just not another flavor of damage. my point is that its all 3 dagger skills are just damage there have no game play decision, mesmer always had this feeling of choice and mind games, sword has an evade and a leap, staff has a teleport, scepter has a block, dagger is 3 skills of damage even GS the less "interactive" has a mechanic to 2 where you can manipulate the number of hits by positioning and boon removal, the dagger feels soulless. not asking for anything OP, just pls consider giving it something unique as a mechanic, since its not its "power" as a weapon that i care about but its game play feeling. if any other player reading this agrees pls show support or if you have better suggestion of what dagger 3 (or 2) could be that pls share. ty for your time and patience.

A valid point but like i answer before with the "unique" system or even more simple with restricting selection (that already is implemented on the gear selection or even in the combination selection of something like the mystic forge). As i posted in that same reference, asking if it couldn't just there be a restriction in the selection of the items on LA, ex: if a slumbering version is selected then the animated version cant be, this would solve the problem of the "unfair advantage" since having 2 versions wouldn't matter because you could only equip one of them.

First point my statement about being "simple" refers to my suggested solution, and yes that implementation is "simple", proof of that is the fact that there is already vendors that off trade 1 vs 1 item. Second point, yes this would create two items per trinket (in terms of database and legendary armory), but this is not an issue in my point of view since they could "easily" (to prevent the need of further clarification i classify here as "easy" based on the previous implementation of similar systems such as the "unique" and other item equipping restrictions) make both of the items available in legendary armory but make them unequippable together, this solves both of the scenarios you presented with the only added "inconvenience" of one more choice of item (that is just another icon that you can or not choose) (different uid). So basicly the work would be adding 3 items to the game (that are basically database entries since implementation of non animated legendary items is already in the game), define the item as unique to the counterpart (already implemented in the game for several items of different id and name (example ascended trinkets from map currency that have this "quirk"), and that's it, as opposed to doing nothing for a problem that affects a lot of people (i know a lot of other persons in this same situation but if you require a more direct demonstration of this fact please just review any recent vod of the MightyTeapot stream where he talks of his own similar thoughts on this subject and also the representation on the chat of people that relate and suffer from the same inconvenience). And my last point is that i have no confidence that this is ever going to be resolved, it has been years since i have posted topics on this forums or participated in posts of others asking for a solution such as the one proposed, and yet nothing. In the end of the day anet does not own me anything, i am just asking (again) that they take some consideration for the people that played hours for something in game (one of the very few rewards that comes from effort) and that is basically useless if i have to play with an animation that doesn't even let me see my character correctly. And this proposition is not the more desirable i get that but it is "simple" and it would resolve the problem for those that have it without affecting in any way those that don't, and honestly having 6 instead of 3 items, is that to much to ask for something that as been requested since the first week aurora was made available ?

I understand that there is a technical barrier to provide a toggle for these legendary trinkets effects, but why cant we just have a simple vendor that sells (as trade 1 for 1 like many other vendors do), items with what ever name/icon you prefer that just have the stat swap, you can even copy the current ring (from wvw) and just disable the unique. My point is that the new legendary armory is bringing value to legendaries that previously were just sitting on the bank yet i (as many other persons) will still not be able to use 3 legendaries when there is a simple and viable option that creates no problems for anyone, if you want the effects don't trade the legendary in, and if you don't just trade it. Anyway i am interested in seeing if this gets some support in the hopes some one from arena net can throw us a bone, the people that care so much for the game that went through the effort of making these items for the reason of having stat select, and just give us a vendor to trade in instead of recognizing a simple request made by many and choosing to do nothing even when there is an easy path that solves the problem at little to no effort and with no additional problems for those that like it as it is.

Came back and played the new "addition" (cant really call it more than that), short story its just half of a map with the same events and drakkar is another zero effort 1 spam boss, at least at world bosses like the chak one in hot you can feel some level of participation because you affect your lane and you can fail, on drakkar although failure is possible its just to basic to matter, you dont feel like you could have done better or change outcome you are just stacking and taking a nap i don't know what you guys do. But in the end if you compare it with any other release even against the first one of this season its just half a map i cant really see anything more to it, and its certainly far less than any other living story release of the previous season, those at least had one map per release and a legendary, some even had a fractal, a raid or a mount as well as other uniq things, i even remember videos from wooden potatoes nerding out by finding on those maps new assets and models etc.... as for these last 2 releases (the pre had the concert that was kind of cool) even the enemies are core enemies svanir and bears etc... with just an extra aura of red, green or blue, no interesting mechanic no new animation just ... meh (i know drakkar and the boneskinner are both new models but used poorly and that's it, 2 patches ... 2 models). And please no useless arguments of more is cumming and balance patch has 900 skill changes (witch you can divide in basically 3 groups a) reduction of approximately 30% on damage/boon or similar percentage in cool down increase, b) reduction of approximately 100% of damage on cc skills and c) actual changes of game play (heals, one or two mechanics changes, and a couple more), and guess what group c) does not amount to even 5% of the changes so meh), or swiss that seems as broken as if they started to make it a month or two ago instead of a year (for basically UI changes and queue of teams (that they already had made for the previous system)), and even if you could use those arguments they would be mute since the company itself has more than once stated its a different team from the one that makes content. But back to my question, its been about 6 months give or take (more if you count the time we were waiting for the pre first episode) and 2 maps with some strike missions that again are just meh at best, half a year, just think about that, and technically almost half a season (they normally have 6 releases per season so half-ish (and before some one calls out that the first one was a prelude i would say that the prelude had more than any of the 1 and 2 releases, so i am counting it)). My question is has it been enough for you to be convinced that they are invested or have you come to the realization that at some point anet gave up and its just trying to spin it for as long as they can? And before you go out on a crusade to attack my perspective please don't, i am insignificant and in no way the owner of the truth i am just calling it as i see it, if you have a different opinion that's your prerogative and i am not here to change it (although i would be curious if anyone can point me what expansion level content as been added in half a year of time, since "expansions" normally deliver it up front and technically last for about 2 years so a quarter of expansion level content, although i would settle for any you can point out, ty in advance if you do), i am honestly just curious, so if you wish to participate ty, if not well it has been fun. PS: i didn't forget about masteries, i just choose not to talk about a soulless bar useless map bound rng mechanic that i don't even use to tell the truth because of again whats the point, even the ones for the mushrooms as simple as they are, as useless as they have become with mounts, still provide in a small part a different way to move through the world, i can run through a HOT map and have fun and feel an impact of the masteries in the way i play the game, as for the new season i couldn't care less about them and fail to see how they change the game play in any meaningful way. PS: (i am just thinking out loud now), where did i read a story about a dragon that controls minds and turns friends into foes into what ultimately is a pointless quest that results in going back to a dragon that tells us what to do in a vague useless way like ... "go there and it will be reveled" or ... "i found out the bad dragon is planning bad things" no shit Sherlock, i think it was on guild wars 2, sarcasm a part i do think the team should really make an effort to some what make the the dragons at least feel different, fingers cross this one doenst alsobasically suicides himself. but what really gets me what absolutely makes me giggle is that for a dragon that wants to "talk with us", a dragon that as sent countless minions even a boss like one, and now another boss like one personification with drakkar, after all that and the ability to just have any svanir/koda/friend/tree/whatever come to us and talk or just whisper it to us ... he still had nothing of any relevance to say ... nothing, its just hilarious. it could be an elaborate metaphor for the social network dependency of our society, so many forms to talk and nothing to say, but i do highly doubt it.it just makes it all comic and pointless like there is nothing behind it no plan no nothing, it just really wants to talk to us, it kills any dread any writing at all, i fell like when i first watched the raiders of the lost ark (Indiana Jones first movie), and at the end i came to this realization that if Indiana had done nothing just sit back and chill the outcome would have been exactly the same, i mean they would still have found the arc and take it to the ritual and still basically suicide them self, i movie about a dude that does absolutely nothing, it does sound like guild wars 2 to me, but again that's just me. have a nice day
  10. I don't want to bash on the game or the company its an objective question, i am just curious to know how a sample of the player base feels about this topic. The reason for is that i have been playing other games like for example path of exile that has a reported team of "over 120" (statement made last year as a comparison to their starting numbers of 23) and although ArenaNet did fire close to 150 they would still be over that 120 current employees, and i make the comparison because grinding gear is actively developing a second path of exile (already at an advance state shown to the public) as well as a mobile version of the full game, without ever failing to support of the original version with the latest league and more, and these leagues are above and beyond what ArenaNet provides with no only maps, gear, challenges, mechanics, spells ... etc ... but most of all they all bring re-playable challenging new game play, keyword here NEW and not rehashed of the same thing, each league is on its own a different game loop and not just a map and a couple of events no different from what we had before. So i find myself kind of asking is ArenaNet truly interested in the longevity and support of the game as well as providing us with new and interesting reasons to play or are they just doing the bare minimum so that these questions are not really asked ?

Now that 2 weeks have passed and all of the content is finally here (3 strike bosses), how do you feel about what was delivered for the 2 months since prologue (or 8 months since last major story release). Take in consideration that Arenanet doesn't owe anything to any of us, its not about being entitled but about a personal analysis of what is given and what you take from it.
  12. like i said before i own all three legendary trinkets (plus ring) and this that you suggested is exactly what i do, besides the occasional exotic build that requires ascended gear i don't feel like having, i just carry around a set of trinkets for most stats i used and put the legendary in the bank what i would hope is that not to be my only solution
  13. i am the owner of a set of legendary trinkets (and ring), and by god (or whatever deity people believe in) i never thought that i was annoying you my good sir with my balls in your face but i am pleased that you don't mind, always good to know
  14. this concept of a "good community" is just idiotic, people are people no matter where you go or what game you play gw2 sometimes gives this vibe of a friendly community because it shies away from competition every chance it gets, mobs can be tagged by everyone, resource nodes are client side, no dps meters, easy spam 1 and it will eventually die content ... etc, and because of this people just "act" friendly the same way people will smile and say hi to one another when they really don't care at all. but the moment you introduce conflict it breaks down even faster than more mature communities, say for example an overpriced feature on the store, an opinion about the death of the game or about the lack of development/effort from the company. people are people and sure gw2 has a lot of sheep happily meh all around, but even sheep will ram a person if they panic so my advice don't talk about the "community" they don't like it.

Asked before (several times) since the addition of Aurora (back on september 2017) could we please have the option to hide our auras both from ourselfs as well from others (similar to backpack, (and if possible all auras period as it is visual clutter). Its quite something seeing the game shift the people that are drawn and every time restart the animation like explosions of balls in a group of people, just the visual confusion on top of everything else. Please understand that is annoying to have the same balls moving around the character for what will be over 2 years, and now with build templates they are used more and become more annoying. Not holding my breath for something that was asked for 2 years and instead gets even more pile down with auras being added to each piece of content, but i also not giving up. If you have this legendary equipment and made it for the utility it provided (past tense since templates kind of do it as well if not better) and would like to keep using the utility without having the visual clutter pls show your support for this requests in hopes this would be the one that is read. ty for your time and patience bn
