I don't know if it's just me but it's kitten annoying to be ignored for years than get the elite spec reveals being what many people have wanted thief to be reworked as and then on top of that exclude the class from the balance patch when it's been in need of one for some time(years). The biggest thing the class has going for it at the moment is stealth and kitten near everything else is lacking in effectiveness it's practically a joke.

This goes for both PvP & PvE there are better heals to be using and I even stated that the passive is one of the few things this heal has going for it but the cast time when you need the burst heal really neuters it. For PvE it's in much better spot meanwhile in PvP situations it's flat out unusable and if you really want the heal on hit you go with Crit strikes slot invigorating precision with an AoE or Pistols build and that trait alone out performs the heal. @DeceiverX.8361 is also correct about there being higher priority problems for thief but this thread is just a discussion really about it and it's been a good bit since this heal has got any love & attention.

Should thief mains ask for a support spec as next elite?

Honestly, It would be neat to see a life steal spec that can also support if it chose to. -
Everyone knows that this heal is horrible and needs to get changed. For example why the hell does it have a full second cast time when it gives you practically nothing at the very least make it instant cast. Only good thing it has going for it would be the low cooldown and the passive being meh but that's a whole lot better than that cast time.

It'd be nice if they made it like vault/shadowstep with casting and made it 400-600 ish range. I hope they do look at it and do something to it it'd be amazing if they made the dodge match the animation length. -

They probably are saying it feels bad and regarding what you said as well FelsPinGuin. It has a weird hit box and the projectiles are random as hell. -
I've been thinking about this topic for a little bit. I've played this set pretty much my whole time on thief and anyone who knows this set. Probably understands that it's not the strongest out of thief's weapons and there is no doubt about that. There are some strong areas for this weapon set like it's burst but when it comes down to death blossom it does suffer in performance compared to the other abilities. Anyways I wanted to create this thread to see what people think could help this ability perform better. At the moment I'm thinking that if it had something similar to CnD that it applies stealth after it hits something and it'd have to go up one or two initiative in cost. Otherwise I can only see replacing the ability or speeding /adding evade to the animation or adding boons to it could help. Also, regarding Dancing dagger I think if it's gonna keep torment it should have cripple replaced with immob and to keep the ability's bounces since it does bounce three times that would be two seconds of immob total to the original target. And one second on the other entity that was hit with the bounce they either do that or replace torment with bleed to keep the ability at 3 initiative.

Are preparations horrible, good, or what?

I hope that they look at preparations after this upcoming patch. Condi thief could become quite a potent thing to deal with. Both In WvW & SPvP node control/sentry & camps is where it will shine. The question at this point is how well will they perform but I think in general the preparations are in a good enough spot to lightly balance them. Shadow portal in WvW is great and for SPvP it allows a thief to have some serious map control if they use it correctly. -
Yes, the only problem I could see with the immob is they'd have to bump initiative cost up a bit as spamming immob with a 3 initiative ability is a little busted. I think it should be bumped up to 4-5 Initiative if they decide to do that. I really am hoping they either speed up Death blossom's animation if they do mess with off hand dagger. It's either that or they replace the current animation with a dodge roll and have death blossom throw daggers like the impaling lotus trait.

Death blossom should not be replaced none of the existing abilities should. Instead removing the animation lock on death blossom and making it into something similar to daredevil's Lotus ability. If people want a gap close put it on Dancing dagger that would be ideal it wouldn't be like shadow shot on D/P. Reason being anyone who has used dancing dagger knows it does not land as easily as shadow shot. Which fits what D/D brings to the table but replacing what already exist is the lazier way out instead of fixing the problem. I also forgot about the cripple/torment combo on dancing dagger. If they choose to keep torment on it then I think they should look at using chill or immob instead of cripple. If they choose to use cripple then I'd suggest using bleed.

Thing is thief is one of the few classes where you can choose to reroll a fight. Over and over and we can stealth to lower cooldowns and avoid incoming damage or at the very least mitigate it. That's part of the reason the damage was lowered so much and the mobility/utility that our class has is kittening insane. It'd be over powered for thief to get all of that and then also get the huge damage/burst. I just hope this person returning realizes that this class wasn't meant to be an easy one and ANET is not out to get this kittening class.

check again. What am I checking? Nothing I said is wrong.Pitfall(3 sec knockdown with pulsing vuln) is one of the strongest preps and so is seal area(AoE projectile destruction and also preventing melee from easily moving through it without giving up a dodge or stab) also shadow portal is unmatched in Ganking. Thousand needle is often used with pitfall with condi builds and if you're caught in it you're dead. I've dueled with preps and used them in roaming and also 2v2s they're very viable if you actually set the build up correctly.
