  1. I have two accounts, although the 2nd was a bit of an accident. I bought it one year into the game, in one of the first half-price sales, and intended to give it to my husband for christmas (2013) as it became clear around that time that GW2 was turning into my favorite and main MMO to play (we'd been playing LotRO together for a few years before that). Unfortunately he didn't want to play it at all, and instead went to ESO (which seemed more "serious" to him ... that the rest of the family was heavily into playing Asura probably didn't help there 🀣). Fast-forward a couple of years, we first got two accounts for the kids (both girls originally started out playing on my account, the 2nd one came in very handy back then) when they were old enough, so there were 4 active accounts in our household. Eventually in 2018 my husband became fed up with ESO (Cyrodil/pvp being his main game mode and plagued by lag and other problems for years), created a GW2 account, and actually became invested into WvW. I rarely get to play this account any more, not because I don't want to, but more because real life changes and I don't have much time to play at all, but I'm firmly set on starting an EoD playthrough on it soon, since I want to experience EoD without griffon or skyscale πŸ˜‰ .
  2. Are you on a character that has already explored the map to 100%? The lanters only show up for characters that have the map at 100%.
  3. This. Resting for less than 4 hours doesn't add to the bonus. It's all (4 hours or more continuously in the inn, regardless whether logged in or out, to reset the bonus) or nothing. As long as you have been in the inn for less than four hours, your previous bonus will keep counting down as long as the character is logged in.
  4. Change your keybinds? I know I would hate to having to get out of combat to link something in chat, since there are plenty of situations where you can't get out of combat immediately (or even in a moderate timeframe). Things like linking a poi in the middle of a meta event fight to help a guild mate that lost their way to the event, or linking a skill to your squad to announce that you'll drop a portal in wvw. If "link to chat" would have its own keybind that you could change, that would probably be an easier way to fix your problem. Maybe if you posted this to the "QoL suggestions" thread, somebody at ANet could pick it up when they get around to adding siege turtle keybinds to the game.
  5. It's all random. I guess I was lucky in dropping one from a meta that's sitting in my bank now πŸ˜‰. Fortunately none of these are essential to using the features, they just buff them a little bit more. As such I'd classify them as "nice to have" and personally don't see a problem with them being rare.
  6. Short answer: The meshes are different for different armor weights in a way that they are incompatible (different cut-off points). To make this possible every individual armor piece in game would have to be redone.
  7. Backpacks are in a weird spot since most of the ones below ascended quality were never salvageable, including the crafted ones. I'm not quite sure what the reason behind that is/was, but being able to salvage them for research notes would indeed be nice (even though I destroyed all of mine ages ago).
  8. Minis, skins, and in the case of Dragon's End the siege turtle egg (if you don't intend to do the meta).
  9. We are barely 3 weeks into the expansion. I doubt many people have even started thinking about how many achievements there are for each map, much less gone to the length of checking them all off already.
  10. I don't know what might be wrong there, but I can tell you that you don't need that achievement for Vision. There are more achievements available than needed for the "Star to guide us" mastery, so you can skip this one. I still don't have it either, and I've finished Vision months ago.
  11. I think you've just answered your own question. Crafted gear hasn't been cost-effective for a long time. Stat-selectable gear exists, and makes aquisition of exotic gear equal across all stat combinations. The problem OP is trying to construct on the pretext of being concerned about new players is theoretical. Practically new players are much better served by a variety of cheaper alternatives that are just as effective for learning the game, combat and encounter mechanics, and how to survive and deal damage with their class of choice. By the time their player skill level and knowledge of the game has gotten to the point where they can actually make use of the one-and-only top tier stat choice, they'll have played the game plenty to get their hands on stat-selectables from a variety of sources. The game really requires minimal investment to get your hands on equipment that allows you to participate in all content. It may not be the theoretical best (that you likely won't be able to get the most out of anyway due to missing player skill if you're new), but it won't stop you from playing any content you're interested in, and playing successfully.
  12. You mean MMOs like ESO? It's probably the closest to GW2 in the way that each class can be built to match each role. Check out their forums/reddit if you want to see how that changes things. Hint: look for the frequent complaint threads about people signing up as healer/tank with dps builds to skip queues, or people being kicked for bringing a role on the "wrong" class. Let's face it, most people don't just expect a certain role in their party, they expect a specific built of a specific class, and are unwilling (or even unable) to adjust if they are faced with somebody on a different built that the one they expected. Even in games with roles hardcoded into classes you'll find people rage-quitting if the role isn't filled by the exact class that is considered meta at a given time.
  13. It (still) doesn't display, you just see an empty bar (with empty end reward) on your screen. You can however see spirit shards gained in situations like unlocking map exploration points or finishing story steps that give you experience without looting enemies (or looting anything at all). The display bug has been reported several times, but I guess since it's purely cosmetic and doesn't impact a lot of people, this is just not high up on the priority list.
  14. What? I have played the expert consoles plenty of times, and not lost a single one.
  15. I suspect you answered your question yourself: research notes are supposed to come from crafted goods. Expect any object that can both be crafted and bought (especially if bought with currency with limited uses) to be excempt from research salvaging eventually.
  16. When did you max out your mastery? They changed it not too long ago (either in 2021 or at the most in 2020) to allow spirit shards to be gained as long as you have no open mastery bar for the experience to go into.
  17. I fully agree with all of your points, and would like to add 5. Please turn off the red exclamation mark that shows on the mini map whenever others are fishing somewhere on the map. It's totally distracting 😞
  18. You can mine nodes without equipping harvesting tools on the character?
  19. Glad to hear I'm not the only one πŸ˜‰
  20. I totally agree with you on that. Personally I've so far crafted 3 sets of jade bot stuff with t6 cores and two modules per set, and am rotating them to characters I want to seriously play in the new content. On the plus side, this helps me to focus on a few characters rather than planlessly logging from one alt to another all the time πŸ˜‚. I am hoping the jade bot setup will be streamlined eventually, but I honestly don't see account-wide equipment (unless it's absurdely expensive legendary tier equipment that is the equipvalent investment to a couple of hundred regular maxed-out sets).
  21. Small correction: you need to completely fill all available mastery bars in a region without unlocking the masteries before experience goes towards spirit shards. If you have for example filled the bar for fishing tier 3 without putting the necessary mastery points in there, but have only half filled the bar for jade bot tier 2, your EoD experience will first fill the jade bot tier 2 bar, even if you don't have jade bot selected for training. Only when you have filled all open bars for EoD masteries, then additional experience you gain will go towards gaining spirit shards.
  22. Did you outfit each of those 32 alts with the best ascended equipment (armor, weapons, trinkets, breather) from the moment each of them reached lvl 80? Even a player that regularly plays/played t4 fractals and raids needed weeks and months to get to the point where they had ascended stuff comming out of their behind (if ever), and likely years for full legendary equipment. Why should Jade Bot equipment be available from the get go and without the usual premium required for early adopting? To unlock the basic jade bot functionality you need a t1 power core per character. Even if you want to buy them right now, without any time investment, you're looking at around 46 gold (31 cores at just under 1.5 gold per core, since you already get one as story reward when you unlock the bot for the first time). If you have all your characters equipped to the max, then that gold shouldn't be a big problem for you. Unlocking extra stats and extra features (in many cases extra loot) for each of my characters (I "only" have 27 of them on my main account) sure sounds nice. Who would say no to extra loot if it's offered to them free of charge? But despite liking free stuff myself, I still feel spreading the extras you can get from investing in higher-tier jade bot equipment to all characters at no extra investment is unbalanced.
  23. I think many of the Aurora collection items actually state that they can be salvaged, and used to be able to. Judging from the different salvage-related bugs that have turned up with EoD (people accidentally salvaging crafted consumables with copper-fed salvage tool, stuff showing up in salvage-all that isn't salvaged, ...), I guess that introducing the research note salvage kit for jade bot crafting has several unintended consequences on how salvage kits and older objects, that may not be as easy to fix (at least not without introducing new, different bugs) as we assume. I take it you reported the unintended salvage changes via in-game bug report? We're just over two weeks into the expansion, and depending on how complex those bugs are to fix and how they are internally prioritized in relation to things like breaking events and crashing maps, it could well be a couple more weeks before the people technically able to tackle those bugs have the time to actually do so.
  24. What is your fishing power when you try it, and what is the recommended fishing power for the spot you are in? You can check both by moving the mouse over the hook icon in the lower left of the fishing bar when you try to reel in a fish (wait for the red exclamation mark to appear over your character, press 1, then the bar will appear). With full fishing mastery, good lures/bait, and fishing food, you should have a fishing power of around 575%: 100% for tier 5 fishing mastery 100% for any buyable bait 100% for amber/jade lure 100% for fishing on a full tank 150% from food (I like to use bowl of fish stew since I can easily cook it up from all the fish I gather) 25% from the basic fishing rod Fishing holes around the EoD maps recommend around 250% fishing power, so with the above 575% you should have a comfortably wide bar to keep most fish inside for long enough to catch them. Occasionally there's a fish (or piece of driftwood) that zips around and changes direction like crazy, but since you don't use up bait/lure unless you actually catch the fish it shouldn't worry you if you lose that one. Once you've got the hang of how to move the bar to catch the fish you can branch out into non-EoD maps where recommended fishing power can go as far up as 600% (from what I've seen). Get the skiff mastery and a couple of friends to fish with to push your fishing power even higher for an easier time.
  25. To be fair, the adventure requirements for HoT specialization weapons were no different for many of us. At least for fishing, once you have full mastery and decent equipment, it's just time consuming, where some of the HoT adventures still required at least basic skill at the adventure. To this day I don't know how I ever managed Fallen Masks for the Dark Harvest collection, but I do know that all my tries combined took a lot more time than fishing any of the exotic fish I've caught for the EoD collections up to now. While I don't mind the fishing food all that much (you get plenty of fish in the process to cook your own or to sell for gold to buy new food), the skiff buff really is non-intuitive. I've tried it a few times after maxing the skiff mastery, but have since decided to simply ignore it.
