Am I missing something about Research Notes?
LaGranse.8652 replied to CrashTestAuto.9108's topic in Guild Wars 2 Discussion
Make legendary armor/weapons and salvage all the useless ascended armor/weapon drops you get. Several hundred notes per item for something that had 0 value. Other method I used at start of EoD getting research notes to make money crafting T10 jade cores was crafting and salvaging mithril jewelry. Probably more people that figured it out and not as good anymore though. -
1 dodge is enough to dodge the whole combo you described for vindicator and it costs the vindicator all of its energy in shiro. Meanwhile if you don't have a block skill you need to expend both dodges to avoid the soulbeast combo and the soulbeast is at a safe range. Also on the topic of the vindicator combo being "unblockable" cause of phase traversal, it only gives 2 stacks on unblockable attacks, so only the first 2 hits from greatsword 5 will be unblockable not every impact from the skill. Both have their pros and cons, would not mind seeing both of them adjusted a bit. Do remember though that the soulbeast combo was fully unblockable for almost 2 years before anet changed unstoppable union so won't mind nuking soulbeasts for the next 2 years to come.

My druid is themed for the bioluminescent weapons. https://imgur.com/a/8UxiBPi https://imgur.com/a/aGayQHG I usually start with which weapons the character will use because you cannot colour weapons while you can armor.

Mounting up and then dismounting makes alliance stance always default to Kurzick abilities rather than remembering which skills were active before mounting up. Happens even if alliance stance was not the currently active legend when mounting up.

Any healskill works, I picked signet of ether cause it heals for a decent amount, gives 1 second invulnerability, some agis, passive healing until you need to use it and it recharges your phantasms. Also method of madness is a good trait for when you need to use your healskill cause of a bad situation you get some extra boons.

The least painful option will be for you to buy some gear from the trading post to update your current one. This is also a good time to learn how to use the trading post properly. Open the trading post and click on the item you are looking for, in this example I will use armor. Next click the cog icon to the right of the search bar, an advanced search window will pop up. In the advanced search window you select what you are looking for. Given your original post about mesmer with staff and condition damage plus having some trouble surviving I will recommend a stat combination called dire in your case now to start out with. Dire stats combination has Main stat condition damage: Increases the damage you do with conditions. Minor stat Toughness: Increases your armor rating which makes you take less damage from physical attacks. Minor stat vitality: Increases your health pool. Your search will look like this. Note how you are filtering for exotic rarity and only for lvl 80. With the advanced search options set click the price button so you are sorting for cheapest first. Now buy some gear, in this case you will find that the named armor set "Jatoro's" will be the cheapest. You would not have found this if you had just searched for "Dire". Do step 1 and 2 to get a good staff and trinkets. Below are some more screenshots of me doing this search for staff and rings as an example. Ring staff You can also upgrade your armor, weapons and trinkets by putting upgrade items in them. For armor runes are always the best and there are many options. For you I will just go ahead and recommend some good cheap ones: Superior Rune of the Lich. For weapons sigils are always the best, and there are many options here too. I will recommend some budget ones that are good for your condi mesmer: Superior Sigil of Demons, Superior Sigil of Corruption. Exotic trinkets can be socketed with different kinds of gems and other items to give some extra stats. I recommend you skip this step for now, they are the least important for the price but get them later! Here is a link to the full build I had in mind when writing this post. It is designed for you to survive by having a lot of utility with stunbreaks, sustain, condition cleanse while allowing you do kill stuff. I only assumed a staff since you did not mention another weapon. If you want to use your weapon swap to a secondary set try scepter and torch or scepter and pistol. You don't have to use what I suggest but use it as a guide to get you started in HoT. The build

No PvE grind needed to use elite specialization in PvP. You can create a level 1 character, go into the pvp lobby, and use the elite specs no problem as long as you own the expansions. People who bought the base game back in the day got to play it for years and it is only 15€ to get both expansions, they come on 50% sale quite often and buying PoF gives you HoT for free.

Most zerg Commanders will kick you in no time... From the times I do join the tag I see them ending up top/close to the top in damage.Something like this: https://metabattle.com/wiki/Build:Guardian_-_Burn_Guard Also I cannot think of a core class I would rather have in zerg fight.
-
I would say play what you want to play not what others say is good. I for example run a core revenant even though no website lists it as good and I’m doing great with it. If you do want to run a from the internet build here are some suggestions: WvW zerg: burn guardianWvW roaming: thief, necro, guardian, warrior, mesmer.PvP: ranger, necro

SEARCHING FOR A GOOD LIGHT ARMOR RANGED CLASS FOR DPS
LaGranse.8652 replied to alaan.1746's topic in Players Helping Players
This game does not follow the triangle of tank-dps-healer appart from in some modes that require a healer and specific encounters that has someone play a tank role. I would say if you want light armor try the 3 light armor classes and see which ine you like the feel of. -
Try the guardian, they have quite a few builds going for them. Power dps with core or dragonhunter, condi dps with firebrand, quickness firebrand, healing firebrand.

Help me understand the game better
LaGranse.8652 replied to Jorgen.6271's topic in Guild Wars 2 Discussion
Since this is an action based MMO support players cannot (in most cases) make people who don’t dodge key attacks immortal. Suppors heal the party so they do not die from the attrition of the fight and bring utillity to the group. For example a support could apply aegis before a big attack (if that attack can be blocked) to block the hit for the group. Open world gameplay is not well-suited for this kind of combat because as you mentioned there is a lot of people, and if they die they can just waypoint. You will enjoy playing your support much more in T4 fractals, strike missions, raids or why not try the competative PvP and WvW modes. -
Australian in need of guidance!
LaGranse.8652 replied to Lucy.6529's topic in Guild Wars 2 Discussion
PvE uses megaservers so for PvE purposes swapping from one EU server to another will have no effect. What might have an effect is swapping from EU to NA. However I have no idea if it would be better or worse. Maybe there are some australian guilds you could join to get into contact with more people in your timezone to do stuff with. -
Why wvw/pvp legendary trinket looks so ugly
LaGranse.8652 replied to Raiden The Beast.3016's topic in World vs. World
Personally would have liked if it had no visual effect at all. -
Bad things I noticed coming back after 2 years
LaGranse.8652 replied to uberkingkong.8041's topic in Guild Wars 2 Discussion
I can only talk about the WvW part. WvW guilds do in my experience advertize in WvW teamchat quite frequently. There are several sites for WvW builds, some harder to find than others. WvW guilds usually have a list of these sites and often their own guild builds. The high WvW ranks people have come from years of playing WvW. One can use xp boosters and play during events to earn them faster however there is no secret method to skyrocket in WvW rank. The good news is that WvW ranks do not matter much. Warclaw and gliding is the most important and after that most WvW masteries are just siege use upgrades that have no real in-combat advantage. For learning the WvW tips and tricks join a WvW guild or find some other WvW players and run with them. You will learn all the tricks in time. -
I can't tell if this one is a joke. It actually looks intersting but you took Masters Fort in Weaver which requires a sword and are using d/d. Might just have to try it myself though. Master's Fortitude grans the +120 Vitality no matter if you have a sword or not.

Why are outfits gender locked?
LaGranse.8652 replied to Towatha.4671's topic in Guild Wars 2 Discussion
The male and the female characters (even if they are the same race) have different skeletons. An outfit/skin made for one skeleton cannot be attached to a different skeleton without breaking/looking horrible. For your wish ANet would need to put in double the amount of work than they do now when making the outfit for, I can only speculate, an option a minority of players would be willing to pay extra for. -
With the exception of dwarf most of those have very low opportunity costs. Dwarf generally isn't used on the problematic build, it usually uses dragon as that's much better for outnumbering people. The cleansing potential isn't problematic, the transfer potential is, espec as you can let the stacks grow while you have resistance so there's no real risk to it Rev almost swaps on cooldown, because that's how you use energy the most efficient, making cleansing get relatively close to maximum effectiveness on rev, as opposed to builds that swap a lot less. The condis that the actual rev do are at a good spot rn, the transfers are not, yesterday on multiple occasions I got 40+ stacks of torment and 20+ stacks of burn on me just from transfers, from revs that didn't even use any dmg skills. This is essentially a 1 shot, from a very easy situation to trigger. For the rev to transfer that amount of condi they would have to have the conditions on themself first. When the rev pulls conditions from allies onto themself they do get a few seconds of resistance to deal with it short term, however, the opponent can dodge/ be out of range of the transfer and then the rev killed themself instead.

Axe 5 applies like 1 stack of torment for 1 second. That is like what? 200-300 damage. It is also very telegraphed, a huge black tear in the world. Mallyx leap costs 30 energy, which is a very large amount of energy. If you are going to complain about that skill you should definitely complain about spectral grasp from necromancer that can pull 5 people from 1200 range while applying a chill twice the duration of call to anguish. I have ran core condition revenant for over half a year before this patch made it more popular. It got nerfed like any revenant build by losing empty vessel and if you spend 30 energy you often do not have enough energy for a stunbreak so someone with stabillity/fast reaction stunbreak can lock you down with CC after you use call to anguish.

In pvp you can just turn on standart models, then you also dont have the problem with small asuras having smaller animations... Its already in the game Not sure if it works in wvw, but there you can just lower graphics and you wont have that clutter. I personally like seeing what my enemy looks like, so if i see them again i am more likely to know what build they are using, because ill remember their appearance better than name ir guildtag. Yes, I tried standard models some years ago sadly I, like you, prefer to see how the enemy looks so I did not like it much. I mainly just dislike the people who stack infusions (like 5 ghostly+legy trinkets etc etc) cause they become a ball of light ^^

Are they any transmutable armors with 0 stats?
LaGranse.8652 replied to Zexanima.7851's topic in Players Helping Players
Even if an armor piece has no stats it has an inherent armor value meaning any piece of armor, stats or no stats, would break your no armor rule.
