  1. Doubt ANet will ever go back in that direction for balancing purposes. Just enjoy the ride and become part of the karma train. We used to drive 10-15 constantly into 30-40+ less organised groups for shits and giggles since we could fight them to a stalemate regardless of the numbers advantage. Waste of time nowadays.
  2. A good resource for you would be to join the IoJ discord and ask for advice there. There are some really knowledgeable commanders on the server that's been driving for years.
  3. I moved my guild to SoS many years ago when it was on ‘High’ pop status. Moved off after a couple years due to the toxicity during OCX time with the pugs being anti-fight. The toxic whispers get tiring to deal with Yes, SoS OCX needs to be broken up, but it needs guilds to move there to recruit their players away from the server
  4. People grouped up tagless before squads were a thing, people will group up after too. Playing as part of a tight knit group has its own fun
  5. I feel it’s due to BG’s history of population stacking - I was part of the group that pushed for tanking/not playing to get our population recalibrated to open the server way back in the day. It caused pretty significant backlash amongst the WvW community as you can imagine. Any mention of opening BG - even if it’s deserved, will get you a negative response
  6. Time to move the guild off BG then for WvW? My guild faced a similar problem, moved off BG and surprise surprise, had more fun on other servers, even if some of the guys have stuck on to BG for their own reasons NA links this time around look good. Pretty evenly spread
  7. I already own the warclaw skins, just waiting for the armistice bastion pass cause I missed it the first time round due to a gem purchase bug :(
  8. Still chilling in WvW all these years later I wish another game would make an RvR game as good as ANet, but until then...
  9. We tested this tonight. Not a great use of a class slot if you're zerg busting or fighting outnumbered tbh. It requires way too much setup
  10. My guild runs comp. Usually 3 support and 2 dps. It's not normally to hunt down singles though, but to tackle the larger groups
  11. Balance threads are in every single PvP/MOBA/Arena type game ever. Deal with it.
  12. WvW is really set up for the really competitive players, even more so than sPvP I just hate losing any fight. Losing fights suuuuccckk. That's enough for me to try "git gud"
  13. You'll be more useful in a pick up group as a support firebrand, but by no means are you forced to. You can go full DPS longbow Dragonhunter and get the big deeps, but if your group's frontline is trash, you will have no chance to output damage.
  14. Farming them would be pretty good gold in and of itself if you have an organised group. That's the thing with WvW. Having good rewards is not a bad thing. Karma trainers will get farmed to oblivion. The people that want to PvP will be able to disrupt those kind of farms pretty easily, especially when reward farmers will be using very squishy non min/maxed PvP spec gear and specialisations.
  15. I dunno, I only play WvW and made it pretty easily. The Heavy Loot Bags you get from the fights should get you most of the mats needed. I just hated the whole process of making it :(
  16. I haven't had a salty whisper in so long, kinda miss them... Toughen up cupcake
  17. Do you want to see a Borderland burn? Honestly I don't care. I run tagless when I want to put my "Fight Guild" mantle of glory on. So the server doesn't know how many times I've respawned or reformed my guild. Then deal with the entitled pugs who will troll you whatever you do
  18. More competitiveness is good, but WvW doesn't reward competitiveness. Players will come to play if there's more visible "bragging rights" style rewards. WvW doesn't give js for rewards, gold or otherwise right now, such is its neglect.
  19. Just run tagless, let all the pugs do their own thing
  20. We've been asking for this basically since the game was launched. The whole stacking strat came about because of the 5 man max AoE cap on most skills. If you can still find a link to the old forums, you'll find posts asking for AoE cap to be removed since pre-launch.
  21. AHMA are still good. LATE has declined but still provides decent fights. eA is... Decent fights too? I can only reserve judgement there cause when I fought them it was with a party of 5 people against their 15~ish and haven't seen them in action against what I'd consider a good guild. eN are still around but they've declined a lot too. Many of the good guilds have declined or left the game. It's hard to keep up skill expression when there's no fights night after night.
  22. The fundamental issue with smaller scale fights is the massive difference in skill levels expressed by different groups. There are nights when my guild is literally 5v10-15 people from guilds that are straight out of PvE. It's no fun then, but it's also no fun getting chased around the map by a 30 man guild cause we're the only group providing any challenge despite only having a party of 5 (sometimes up to 10, very rare). Those smaller groups without the skill expressions to match other small groups will tend to group up with other groups forming a blob, which is what causes these really unfair fights, in my opinion. What would really improve fights in WvW is ANet encouraging better skill expression in PvE. They've already done this in PvP with the league system, but the PvE system encourages lazy play, which, when the players come over into WvW to get mounts, dailies etc., it makes for terrible fights. It's a catch 22 system for ANet though, cause increase the difficulty too much and their precious casuals will leave the game in droves. Most of their hardcore PvP/WvWers have left years ago because of their insistence on catering to the casual audience and won't be coming back. I see so few good guilds left in WvW, it's really sad. The pug groups of 3-4 years ago could probably roll over the majority of those bigger guilds today with equal numbers. It's just not the same anymore.
