  1. Id say that in this day and age you need 16GB for anything but basic work since stuff outside the game hogs a lot more memory than it used to. You can turn off whatever you don't need running in the background to save on RAM and it may do the trick. There may be something up with the swap settings on your computer that prevents use of virtual memory. In either case running a browser (with three tabs) and nothing else on windows 11 uses some 8-10GB of ram when idle on my work rig at least.
  2. Yep, try checking the timecodes when the game opens as that's where the errors should start appearing. The gtreamer stuff could be causing it and that is, in this case, part of steam itself, you can try verifying the "game files" of proton 8 in steam and see it that helps. Another thing to try could be to install the flatpak version of steam and see if that works.
  3. Pixman is a linux package, its used for 2d stuff. So its in nobara in your case. But its not the problem as if it was the same issue that it caused you wouldn't get into the game at all. Then you get the launcher, it says "initializing" and once past that everything just completely locks up. As for getting a log: In steam, go to the properties of gw2 and put "PROTON_LOG=1 %command%" into the launch options without the quotation marks. This will then make proton spit out a log into your home folder when you launch the game. You may also want to go into the compatibility tab and swap the to Proton 8.0-5 just to see if that works.
  4. There was a bit of a bug with it having debug code enabled, though that is on version 0.43.0 and has now been fixed. Basically it made the launcher freeze the entire system, its not your issue here. As for your issue i take it the launcher works normally and once you hit play the game appears to start but you get no picture. Does the game window show at all? Did you reboot? (Just putting it here if you haven't tried it) Try hitting alt+enter to toggle fullscreen when its running and see if anything happens. Did anything get updated right before the issue started happening?
  5. While i have not fiddled around with it much myself i know there are alternatives like vkBasalt. I should look into setting that one up sometime myself. It is also possible to get Reshade itself working from what i can find by using winetricks/protontricks to enable "d3dcompiler_47"
  6. Version 0.43.0-2 and the now current 0.43.2 both work fine on my end at least.
  7. That makes the solution fairly straightforward at least. Just put pixman and lib32-pixman on the ignore list until they release their next stable version, which should be 0.43.2. At least how i understand their weird version number scheme.
  8. Just changing the version number fixes it? lol That's pretty much all i can say. I'm hoping this will be fixed with plasma 6 if nothing else. It does seem to be kwin/plasmashell that are freaking out after all.
  9. Another alternative would be to have some way to just run the launcher in a regular window. Its incredibly likely that the transparency effects used to create the irregularly shaped window cause these issues. Some launch option to just run it without fancy graphics would be nice. I'm relatively sure ESO's launcher has the exact same problem if you run pixman 43.0-1, along with any other launcher/program that uses that kind of transparency.
  10. I doubt its the launcher either at this point. It appears to be something that went into an update of some linux component on arch based systems with KDE specifically. If i had to guess from the stuff in my log id say pixman or libplacebo as both are used for 2d graphics stuff and were in my update list yesterday. Some KDE stuff may be a likely culprit as well since we all seem to be using that. I can also get the launcher to work if i disable desktop effects while launching it.
  11. Out of curiosity, what distros/DEs are you on if you got the freezing issue? Myself I'm running garuda linux (arch based) with KDE as the desktop environment with X11. Another thing to note may be that arch put out an update to use dbus-broker by default yesterday, so it could be related as well, but i suspect not.
  12. Getting this as well under lutris (wine-ge-8-25) and i managed to start the game by clicking where the buttons should be to log in. Disabling desktop effects on KDE when launching the game did the trick for me so that i can get it to work normally without freezing. I'm guessing they changed something in the launcher code which causes it to explode under wine/proton.
  13. I did give the dual swords a quick test on my valkyries reaper setup and while it didn't feel too bad the damage output was /really/ bad compared to axe/focus and greatsword. (Damage was like a third of GS) It will probably work better in group settings or with berserkers gear. But i do hope it will work with my setup once its officially released, time will tell.
  14. As long as the console version has its own servers i don't see any issues with a mobile/console version. I'm not sure how much it would sell. Controls shouldn't be a large problem with a decent control setup. It does after all work in FFXIV, which has far more buttons to juggle. Of course if it is to share the same servers as the current PC version there will be a lot of issues with certification taking forever which makes patches take longer. This is on top of the current expectation that everyone has a keyboard they can use to type in chat. With consoles this is not a given. Warframe as an example has more than a few issues stemming from their implementation of cross play, though most of those are performance related. But it is something that weighs in as well, especially as the current console generation ends. How long will the old consoles then hold back future improvements?
  15. Hopefully the next one will be focused on bringing the various weapons in line with eachother by buffing the weaker ones as necessary just to give people more options.
  16. Hmm, now that the patch is live i have to wonder if dhuumfire was extra nerfed for harbingers as it seems to have a 1 second base there rather than 3 for base necro and reaper and 2 on scourge.
  17. This thing also shouldn't activate automatically when you try to mount normally. I've wasted it so many times because i try to mount up a moment before i get out of combat. There is a keybind in the options for it that should be the way to actually activate it.
  18. Found the relics that work. Slotted them on every char so i can now ignore them just as much as the runes and like the 6th bonus on runes most relics are trash.
  19. For some reason it also takes a very long time to load in the first place, which doesn't help. I should probably go back to parking my characters in arborstone instead.
  20. I just hope that whatever nerf is coming down the pipe for this wont nuke condi harbinger as collateral damage.
  21. There is definitely something weird with the new maps, especially amnytas. Though the wizards tower is pretty bad as well. Both just completely nuke FPS from orbit no matter what settings i use. I wonder if its something to do with specific hardware if it doesn't happen to everyone. Myself i run on an all AMD setup with a Ryzen 5900x and an RX 6800 XT and 32GB of ram, so it should be more than enough to run the game. So I'm curious to see what people that don't get (or notice) the bug are running hardware wise.
  22. I kind of wish it had some unique animations at that cost. Like some kind of different food being tossed to it and unique fire/fireballs as with some of the gem store skins.
  23. The easy solution here would be to have a skill added to the bar of griffon/skyscale that toggles ley line activation. So if its active then you get grabbed by the ley lines as now but if you turn it off then you can simply fly on through unrestricted.
  24. I'm guessing they will be somewhat akin to strikes with similar group limits and requirements. In which case it comes with all the downsides of having to form/join a group able to do them. Possibly on top of a costly t4 motivation and daily rift limits on the rift side so you can only enter a t4 rift on any given map once per day or the like. Time will tell in either case.
