I love that content because I remember how hard it was for me to get into that game mode years ago without any tutorials. There was not a single site with build or any inspiration, no pvp discord, nothing. It would have made things so much easier

At this point, it really feels like maintenance mode. No updates, promises that were kept at first but now nothing is happening AGAIN, balance the same as usual with few classes OP (rev, holo), no communication, absolute silence. I don't take this mode too seriously, I play for the fun and friends so I can deal with that. But for everyone really committing to the game and trying his / her best, this is just sad.

It is normal to be insulted, you need to be thick-skinned in competitive game-modes. You can't change these people, they are gonna stay that way. I play few different games and it is completely normal that people rage. They can't handle their emotions so they need to find someone who serves as an outlet. The last couple days were crazy in this regard, hard insults every game, unfortunately not creative (I collect them so always happy for something special)If I won like 1 vs 1s or just plussed, the insults come from the enemy ("uninstall game, hacker, ur build carries u.."), if lost, usually from one player of my team.But after they said I should kms and other classic insults they instantly block me so I can't respond. And THAT'S the thing that's annoying. But shows you how sensitive these people are. They can't deal with a loss and they can't even deal with responses to their flaming. Imagine :D So don't take it too seriously man.

After countless 4 vs 5 in the last days after lead of the enemy of 30 points ("its lost gg I go afk") or because they didn't like the comp ("if you don't switch to XY I go afk") I came to a point where I tend to be happy to play with bots. They know their burst rotation, they don't afk and are not toxic.

True. I started pvp in 2018 and remember how hard it was. The only way to really practice were the golems and NPCs. The latter could be so good if anet cared, like making different up to date builds, adapted to current meta. So you could actually improve in ranked and unranked by learning how to dodge key skills and learning about cc chains. The hotjoin was and still is just a clown and farm fiesta and useless to improve. You just feel left alone. Without the help of different websites, guides, discord and individual and great people I would still have no idea about rotations, skill-cancelling, weapon-stowing, using no port spots etc. Because it was never ever once talked about in game! On the contrary: some information is even kinda hidden. Ik so many starters who don’t know about weapon stow cus it’s deeply hidden in the options menu.

On prime time when I was creating a fresh alt acc and climbing the shortest queue times were 100 % in gold 1. I could play like instantly. In silver 1 it took much longer, about 3-4 min. Then in g3 it was like 1.5 min and in p1 and p2 on both accounts it is usually between 2 and 5 minutes. If queue times allow drawing conclusions on population I would support those who say g1 has the highest playerbase.

I love this thread! I especially tilted when reading about attacking in the spawn. Soooo annoying. More here: „Match starts“ while you are writing in chat and 19387 other windows pop up. Then you click dismiss and are relieved...But only for a few seconds, cause the next window to choose the map will pop all over the center of your screen and can’t be dismissed. Amazing design. Top stats... Where the average pvp player looks at after flaming his teammates all game long in chat and can feel good again. After spending minutes fighting against the prot holo on enemy-capped node he is proud of himself...he got top-damage! GJ man! Enemy team got dc. It is a 4 vs 5. You win.. Who would have thought that? And you even get the FULL amount of ranking points for that match. Absolutely deserved.... You cast Renewed Focus but... kitten, you dodged even if you knew you shouldn’t while casting it. Now it went on full CD but you neither became invulnerable not your virtues got renewed :( Flesh wurm, your last resort as condi nec when pressured. But there are obstacles you didn’t or couldn’t see...So instead of porting you at least a bit near its spot, it ports you literally one step. One kitten step. „YOUR BASE IS UNDER ATTACK“ on a loop. I just always hope my team readies up fast when standing in spawn in foefire. Targeting Wars 2. When you target an enemy to make him notice something like „peel for me“ , „you cap, I leave“ or „help rezzing“, but instead, he acts like you insulted him, stands still, decides to target you instead and flames in chat. I even had one in my games going afk after someone targeted him, with a lead of 150 points

This is so true. It is what makes me choose plaguelands 75 % of the time on blood condi necro. I always try to wait for the right moment for Lich but it's tricky. I mean, the CD is pretty high. Sometimes I think "Should I? Is now the right moment?" and I wait so long...And then that moment is gone and you missed it. And when you wanna do it differently next time and try not to think about perfect timing I see my enemies instantly popping their reflect bubbles and whatsoever and Lich was entirely worthless.I think plaguelands is way easier to place and land, especially on matches with lots of AoE. But yeah, if there is not as much visual clutter going on, any decent player will just wait till it's over and not walk into it. But with plaguelands in the middle of a node you could at least force a decap.

Sometimes match making can be odd, one of the reasons are smurf accounts. People not wanting to lose rating on their main so they play on alt on lower ranks (either cus they still climb or because they don't take it too seriously on alt and therefore are lower rated) I got a few 0 / 10 - 500 in a row in ranked. First on my side, then on the other. Total stomps are pretty common this season, at least for me. Unranked is way more fun atm, got soo many close games, with overtime, where any mistake counts.

Lich really got me into trouble lots of times in the past and I sometimes chose the anti projectile cloud on necro to survive it, but it’s not necessary. LoS is they way to go and it is recommended to learn to be aware of where you can hide. I am stuck in tourney queue, the patch and forced restart overlapped with it and now I can't leave it or do anything else like playing ranked or unranked..

that was 10v10 and it failed cuz there were no rounds. 5v5 is way more manageable and it wouldn't turn into a "zerg fest". Oh, my bad. Yeah I agree, with 5 vs 5 this would look different :)

I remember deathmatch and it felt like a bad and skillless WvW, you just went as a zerg and that team who had a better zerg comp won the fight. It wasn't about skill or strategy at all. Not that much fun tbh. There would be better modes like Southsun Survival but as a real pvp game imo.

This very much. Even a random player like myself can get away with fun but not meta builds. This hasn't happened in such a long time. It's a true bliss. Sort of a contradictionary statement. This isn't how PvP in any game should be, really. I mean we only have 5v5 Unranked right now which has no Matchmaking. I play power rev atm and it works really good vs bots, but it might be completely different in RankedI just wanted to point out that unranked definitely has matchmaking, based on Glicko, similar to ranked. It includes rating, rank, party size, profession, ladder position, and dishonor. It is true, when a new account is created, you will get matched up against completely different, new players. Question to necro mains (with classic build not the signet tanky one): Due to huge impact of burning, is it a good choice to use the trait dhuumfire instead of eternal life in the soul reaping line? I do more dmg but using it feels clunky cus of slooow cast time...

yeah I think so too, I was p2 last season but only got ranked in upper g2 with 2 v 2 even though I won most of my games of the placement matches. (I belong there anyway lol cus I suck at 2 v 2 :'D) Many of my other friends were ranked there as well at first

Maaaany people are playing exclusively pvp and not the other game modes.Since it is a new legendary item obtainable by pvp it should also have at least some kind of visual effect in that game mode. You did it right with the ascension. But I am quite optimistic tbh, Aurora also shows off in pvp.

It is good to have these kinds of people in the forums, being able to gathering the data, to calculate and do the math. Finally we have a list based on facts not on subjective perception. This thread should be pinned. Maybe Anet is hiring a mathematician? This would be a great application for it.

Someone laughed at me In the forums before the big patch when I said they should chill if something gets OP or UP cus they would fix it in a faster pace than before.Funny that this is is exactly what happened! :)I love the new focus, this is what the game needs. This mode is amazing, I have sooo much fun. I even play it more than unranked atm lolBest thing about it is that there are 3 matches and after each u can discuss new strategies with ur partner and adapt your traits, skills and build to their playstyle.Also this mode improves abilities u need in regular ranked such as reading the UI, adapting to match-ups, dodging keys kills, counting dodges, coordinating bursts and kiting.

Nah I don't want to be carried by lucky queue or carry a unlucky queue. Exactly :D or u can solo queue and if u get matched up against good players or with them u could ask them to queue together. Worst thing that can happen is they say no lol
