  1. If you're talking about end-game in the context of combat encounters in PvE and WvW, then no, crafting is not required, nor does it give you any advantages. Further, guides such as GW2Crafts.net offer quick-and-easy instructions to level up crafting professions in as little effort as possible, with little to no gathering required. Crafting is also not a reliable source of gold-making. Besides Trading Post flipping, most of everybody's gold is obtained from combat-oriented activities, such meta-events and Fractals (aka 5-man dungeon instances). As far as gold is concerned—again in the context of combat encounters in PvE and WvW—your biggest cost centers are likely to be consumables, such as food and Utility (https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Utility_item) items that provide combat buffs. Generally speaking, you'd be spending about 1 to 1.5 gold per hour on these. Beyond that, large sums of gold are typically spent on unlocking mounts, buying materials for crafting cosmetic-oriented items (mostly legendary weapons), or converting into Gems to purchase items off the Gem Store.
  2. @"Iris Ng.9845" has an amazing thread in this very sub-forum for such requests. Consider posting your request there.
  3. Reddit user u/Lishtenbird created a comprehensive summary of the content and features that have been released over the years. As far as where to start, if you were playing through a particular part of the story, simply pick up from there. If you haven't unlocked some of the more recent Living World episodes, the complete packs are scheduled to be discounted significantly this week for even bigger savings (i.e. their base price already discounts episodes by 20%, and this week's discount reduces the price-per-episode further).
  4. how is the Soulbeast and Deadeye in PVP with similair setup? I want to dabble in pvp but only like ranged as well. But as far as raids go, raids are basically stack on the everyone and attack the boss? Sounds pretty boring. Is there a decent amount of strat to it at all or is it mostly zerg/dodge? I can't speak much about PVP, as I haven't cared enough to keep up with current trends since the last balance patch. However, as far as I know, Soulbeasts usually go high-sustain builds with Axe/Warhorn and Greatsword; a previous cheese Longbow unblockable burst build was nerfed some time back, and may not be usable anymore. On the other hand, Rifle Deadeye is very hard to pull off well in the confined spaces of the PVP maps, and are more often played as roamers to harass capture points; you'll probably find more of what you're looking for with a ranged playstyle while roaming in WVW. As for raids, there are enough mechanics to make things interesting, and each boss requires some amount of coordination and awareness. Even as a DPS focusing on their damage rotation/priorities, you still need to respond appropriately to boss mechanics, while still maintaining a certain level of DPS.
  5. First and foremost, regardless of what build you're looking for, nine times out of ten, you'll be grouped up in melee range of the boss anyway. This is primarily to facilitate the distribution of healing and boons, rather than DPS rotations. Otherwise, if it's just the matter of having a ranged weapon anyway, then there are indeed builds that accommodate, such as Condi scourgeShortbow/Shortbow Condi SoulbeastRifle Power DeadeyeScepter Condi Mirage/Chrono
  6. The ranger, because it's level 57. Otherwise, the difficulty of HoT content is dependent on how well you know a profession and build. The guide stickied on this subforum offers leveling builds, but the gameplay fundamentals of each build is still relevant at level 80.
  7. Did you mean Buried Treasure?https://soundcloud.com/arenanet/buried-treasure?in=arenanet/sets/festivals-and-holidays
  8. A scam is a scheme conducted by an entity to defraud another party for their own benefit. So, how is ANet NOT allowing you to give them money a scam? Furthermore, simply buying an item from the gem store does not make your account "buy to play," as that connotation was used in the original business model of the game, where players would pay once for the game, and be able to play the MMO indefinitely without a subscription. Lastly, let me say this. The people you are taking your frustration out on are the same that have graciously answered your questions, and given you solid advice. They aren't customer service, retail technical support specialists, or even representatives of ArenaNet. Yes, you are clearly peeved by the fact that you aren't able to buy something from the gem store while it's on sale. However, neither is this the forum to voice such discontent, nor are these people the ones you should be spiting diatribes at.
  9. A common question I see pop up now and again is whether to sell or salvage unidentified gear, and if so, what's the best kit to use. These questions are likely more of an interest with the official release of legendary upgrades, and the upcoming reveal of the recipe for Mystic Motes and Mystic Aspects. In an attempt to answer these questions using the Trading Post API and research from the wiki, I present a compiled list of possible profits. Note that Basic, Journeyman, Fine, and Master Salvage Kits are considered bought with karma due to the ease of access to the vendor in Dragonfall. Lastly, the "best" method presented is based solely on maximum possible profits, and does not take into consideration of the convenience and inventory management challenges of using conventional salvage kits. 10. There is no concrete way to plan when the Shimmerwing will return to the Gem Store. Based on their individual histories, similar mount skins have returned to the Gem Store 2 to 4 months after their initial release period.
  11. For PVE Fresh Air Tempest, would you say that replacing Fire traitline with Water makes the most sense? From Fire, I would at best get 150 Power if following old-old-old rotations, which is probably much less than 20% (multiplicative?) damage boost. Thoughts?
  12. As per the Gem Store history of the bundle that includes the outfit, it was last available November 2018, and has yet to be seen since. There are two probable dates that it might return: during the Anniversary Sale in August, or September 19 (aka International Talk Like a Pirate Day). The alternative is waiting for the return of either the Black Lion Outfit Ticket (introduced last August), or The Evon Gnashblade Decorative Package.
  13. Personally, I use Copper-fed for Fine and below (so white and blue) and Mystic Salvage Kit for above, after identifing the gear. Eh, not really. Based on my recent numbers (n=20,284 out of 21,000 purchased), Green unidentified gear are listed barely 1c above vendor price (1.37 silver), and have a salvaged worth of around 1.32 to 1.58 silver, using Basic-tier (i.e. Copper-Fed) and Runecrafter's, respectively. Identifying gear does increase your average results, as there is a 3% chance of getting a Rare item. But if you're only considering Greens on their own, the biggest benefit you'll get is less than 30c per item. However, these benefits are counteracted by a number of hindrances for a new player, e.g. Lack of bag and bank space,The need to purchase and store multiple salvage kits, andThe need to juggle a bunch of materials they likely have no idea what to do with. All in all, for a newer, or more TP-casual players, vendoring Blues and Greens isn't that big a loss as some make it out to be.
  14. Double check if you have the Last Rites collection available by searching for it in your Achievement panel.
  15. If you don't have the previous Living World seasons, definitely look out for the Complete Packs of each season. By default, each is 20% cheaper than buying individual episodes, so any further discount is icing on the cake. If you want to prioritize, I would say Season 4 (current season; gives you access to the skyscale mount), then Season 3 (gives you easy access to some gear), then Season 2.If you're just starting out, definitely pick up the Copper-Fed Salvage-o-Matic. The other two matter less, and can be effectively substituted with a Mystic Salvage Kit.An Endless Upgrade Extractor Contract is a "Super Rare" drop from Black Lion chests, but can be bought on the Trading Post. Currently, the lowest sell listing is 2,600 gold. Use cases of Upgrade Extractors in general are very niche, and are primarily used for trading vast quantities of valuable Runes and Sigils. In short, for a new player, I would highly not recommend trying to get one. There is currently (as of time of writing) a discount Bank Slot Expansion of 25%. This is uncharacteristic, based on the patterns over the last two years, so it's hard to say whether we'll see a discount on this item next month. The different unlimited gathering tools on the Gem Store are primarily cosmetic skins. Some come with Glyphs (upgrade components for gathering tools), but nearly all of them are not worth the Gem or gold. A fan favorite is the set of Infinite Volatile Magic Gathering Tools, which grant you an average of 6 Volatile Magic per node, or about 3 silver per node. While unlikely to be on sale, I would also recommend the Skyscale Hatchling Harvesting Tool just for the quality-of-life glyph.Advanced Salvage Kit UsageReddit user u/rude_asura did some research since the most recent change to unidentified gear, i.e. magic find no longer affects results when identifying, and shared their results in this post. To summarize their findings, which are based on Trading Post prices in April, When possible, always identify gear before salvaging. If you choose not to identify gear, use Copper-Fed or Basic salvage kits. The best value is gained by salvaging Masterwork and Rare identified gear with a Runecrafter. However, the difference is a mere 13% from using Copper-Fed and Silver-Fed, and less with Copper-Fed and Mystic kit.
  16. 9 professions5 races2 gendersSo, 90 slots for optimal Fashion Wars 2? For those wanting to look for sale patterns, you can check out the item's Gem Store history on the wiki.
  17. Quickness only affects character animations. The casting animation of gyros are affected by quickness, whereas their duration isn't, just as Chronomancer Wells, therefore it is working as intended.
  18. The projectile is working as intended. Terrain breaking pathing of the skill is normal, and is consistent with other similar skills, e.g. Necrotic Traversal.
  19. Hopefully you were searching for him in the right era. Valkenhien is an NPC in Guild Wars, and does not exist in Guild Wars 2.
  20. I just tested this as well and got 60s too. Seems like its a hidden buff but not unlike the warrior's Arm's Signet Mastery which gives +100 ferocity for 60s. Perhaps this is intentional considering the number is a perfect minute and there are other traits that are similar. Burning Rage definitely has the 10% damage still present and this needs to be fixed. In sPVP you're getting a 450 bonus after you activate it with 10 stacks of might. It is giving a base 150 after activation to all atunements and then adds 300 attack if you are in fire for about a minute. 150 attack is immediately added while in fire. It is probably a bug given how it's functioning like someone forgot to order the buffs when they were making it. Idk where to put this, so sorry. You get 150 Power when you attune to Fire while having the Fire traitline active because of Empowering Flames.
  21. Okay, found an interesting bug/interaction with Shadow Portal, since you mentioned Fractals. If you /gg after the mark arms, the armed mark will remain in place. Then after you reset cooldowns — either by waiting it out, hard resets with full-group wipes, or Mistlock Singularity — you can cast Prepare Shadow Portal — which doesn't initially leave any mark — and then Shadow Portal to allow teleportation to the first mark. What's even more interesting is that once you do so, the second mark becomes armed and active, leading into another buggy interaction. If the Prep skill resets before the 60s duration runs out on the second mark, casting it once more, following the steps above, creates a mark as usual, but will also create a Shadow Portal automatically for free, allowing you to teleport to the location of the second mark, while still having the third mark available, and Shadow Portal ready to go. This code has truly been touched by the almighty Flying Spaghetti Monster.
  22. You generate 3 clones every 5s just by auto-attacking with a scepter (with either quickness or Malicious Sorcery).
  23. Ah-ha! Just did a little more testing. Seems like the buff remains for about 60s after Might stacks fall below the threshold.
  24. It's removed once you switch attunement. Just checked. Power bonus remains even after switching attunements (and accounting for Empowering Fire), and after Might stacks have been reduced to zero. Likely has some implications for PvP/WvW.
