  1. Very neat to be able to peak behind the scenes! Cool post 🙂
  2. I've been playing GW2 for quite a while, mostly casually. A lot of my knowledge of playing MMOs has come from WoW, GW1, and GW2. In WoW and GW1, I feel that the roles are quite structured and I know what I'm doing when it comes to support, be it healing or tanking. I understand that GW2 doesn't have these traditional paradigms, but it still does have the concept of a support role. It may sound stupid to ask, but how do I support in this game (and specifically for fractals)? I know there are support builds on metabattle with instructions on how to play them, but how do I know when to splash out aegis or protection? How can I use the UI to track how well I'm doing in terms of providing support? What cues or triggers does the game offer to let me know I should use a particular skill. A basic example would be if someone's health is low, then heal. I'm struggling at the moment because I don't know when I should be applying boons to allies, and also, I don't know if I'm truly being useful by not attacking and instead focussing on support. In other words, is the loss of my personal DPS made up by the increase in DPS/utility I bring to the party? I play both a guardian and mesmer. My favourite role in team based games is to provide support. What's the best way I can do this in fractals? Are there any good guides online? Thanks in advance!
  3. lol OK so after two seconds of googling there is a great breakdown of activities on the wiki! Always Google before you ask I guess! https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/A_Very_Merry_Wintersday_2020
  4. Are there any good Wintersday activities to do with friends? I was excited to try the wintersday JP with a friend, but found that you can't join as a party and instead enter a big arena style matchmaking system? We tried the dungeon 'Tixx's Infinirarium' but we didn't really like it (mini-events weren't that fun, and a lack of a nice final boss fight made the ending a little flat). Is there any content (other than the dungeon) that works well for playing with friends?
  5. Noob question, but how do you 1v1 in GW2? I went to the heart of the mists with a friend, jumped into a custom arena for TDM that included a ready up option, but couldn't get the match to start with just the two of us. I know the game isn't really meant for 1v1, but we just wanted to have a bit of fun. Would rather not do the 'open' PvP where it's basically a free-for-all.
  6. Hey! New to GW2 PvP and loving it so far! Really want to improve, so I started watching WPs PvP stream on . I've found it really useful. Can anyone recommend good YouTubers or videos that go over PvP? There are a lot of videos out there that focus on PvP at a really basic level such as explaining how conquest works, but, unfortunately, not talking about how to play conquest (what to look out for, key skills, animations, match ups, rotation etc). Way back when I played CoD MW2 I used to watch loads of videos, because I enjoyed the content, and found they really helped me improve. I'm hoping there's a similar resource for GW2. I play Guardian so if there are any good vids to watch on that, that would be super useful too! :).
  7. Hi! I'm a returning player to GW2, I played the game during launch and also played briefly for Heart of Thorns and Path of Fire. Whilst I did hit 80, I never really progressed my characters that far and I feel like there is a lot of content I have yet to do! My question is , as a returning player, what should I prioritise to make the game more fun. One of the biggest turn offs for me was when I logged in and saw everyone around me with maxed out characters (or what seemed like maxed out characters) in super flashy gear, whilst I had no idea what was going on nor what I should focus on. It can be quite overwhelming, especially with all the new stuff that has been added to the game. I really want to pick this game up again, make some friends, and start enjoying it. My favourite things to do in games are: StoryExplorationPlaying with friendsPvP (to a lesser extent)DungeonsI'm thinking about starting from a clean slate with a brand new character and progressing to 80. I really enjoy playing with others, so if there are any resources out there that help players communicate and group up that would be great. It would be awesome if I could level up with someone, but I do find with GW2 there's never really a need to communicate much (hence asking for external resources.) Any help would be great!
