  1. I've been experiencing the same exact problem/issues as others... am also a windows 7 user! You'd be surprised how many ppl are still using win 7. (No forced updates by the big "M" and automatic updates actually stay off!) Originally I thought my game data was corrupted or something so I activated a repair, however after reading through everyone elses comments it would seem it's to do with the chromium stuff! Will definitely give the vista compatibility mode a go as soon as the repair finishes up! Fingers crossed that it actually works... Update: Yes I can confirm that changing your compatibility mode to "Windows Vista", does in fact work! Simply right click properties on your gw2 shortcut... *click compatibility tab*... "change compatibility mode" to "Windows Vista", make sure the tick is on for running the game in compatibility mode, click "Apply", then launch the game as normal! Done! Hope that helps everyone else out! Back to gaming! 😃
  2. Not sure where your coming from here, I'm basically describing what's working for me. And how am I doing what everyone else is doing if I'm able to swap across 70 characters in slightly more time then usual. To me it sounds like it's working as a >> Temporary Fix << I never said it was a solution! Before this I was loading up & getting stuck >> All the time << in loading screens! So how is this doing what everyone else is doing??? And it doesn't just magically work, it does work! Try it!
  3. I believe I have found a TEMPORARY FIX! It doesn't eliminate the problem completely, however... (to get by in the interim)... Basically, I tried to fiddle with every setting, sound, video, beta... etc But of course none of that worked! The problem isn't with your individual game settings, but rather when you're in the character selection screen itself. All I did is left click once (not twice), upon the character you wish to play, (this next bit is extremely important), wait for the character icons down the bottom to appear, (you don't have to wait for your character to appear up above, just make sure the character icons down below show up 100% for the rest of your characters! If the login character selection screen fails to show the character icons 100% down the bottom after about 5 seconds, it's a failed load! At that point you'll have to log off & re-log in again, then just repeat the same process once you're in the character selection screen again! This will usually work for 5-10 characters at a time which will get everyone by! Just remember if you don't see the character icons loading 100% down the bottom of the screen in the character selection, it's a failed load! I believe I've zero'd in on the source of the problem... hopefully that will help ANET to figure out exactly what is going on! Oh & just in case, I have my resolution on windowed mode! Not sure if that affects anything, but just in case! Hope that helps everyone as I'm now able to do my daily farm as per normal! Yes it takes a little longer because of the failed loads, but it's better then nothing! Cheers everyone! :-)
  4. I don't have EoD yet & I can confirm that the problem still persists. I only have PoF & HoT. It's definitely something related to the release of SAB which has fundamentally broken the game, (at least when trying to swap characters!) I've pretty much stopped playing for three days now & it would seem this problem is much more serious then anyone first realized. If ANET isn't already scrambling, I'd say yup, it's about that time! Not sure how many more players need to complain at this point! Worst case scenario I'd recommend cancelling SAB & rolling back the patches to the version that was actually working properly before all of this chaos began! I'm only saying that because in the past I once hosted a game server & if I ever had any issues I'd roll it back to a previous version that functioned correctly, could maybe then re-implement any items that were added into that build, just saying. But I'll have a guess that ANET will probably go through all the lines of code trying to figure out exactly what's causing this problem. Regardless I'd keep my options on the table! Hopefully fingers crossed someone will get lucky on the other end & locate the problem!
  5. It's still happening! Re-logged 8 times, then on the 9th character selection, boom! Endless loading screen & when it finally loaded, character was missing/stuck on the spot, sky was black & white tiles, floor was missing, etc, etc... Errgggghhhhh! Just a word of advice ANET, you might want to call all hands on deck until you've definitively sorted this problem out at it's core! And then leave the staff in place for a few days to ensure it doesn't rear it's ugly head again! Just some friendly advice... I believe this only started happening once SAB (Super Adventure Box) made an appearance so something isn't meshing together correctly! Anyways... thanks for your replies thus far & for letting us know it's being looked into! :-)
  6. Am having the exact same issue, infinite load times, black screens & when it finally does load up there are those very familiar black & white squares, missing character, missing floor, can't move! Have already reported it a few times & the latest patch has done nothing to fix/address the issue whatsoever. I gave up on playing at all yesterday & looks like this will continue... I certainly hope ANET is looking into it because it's a serious problem! I tried the above mentioned suggestion, to delete the local.dat however after a few logins it went back to the same exact issue again! Agh! Yes something definitely isn't right here...
  7. In regards to the Bladesworn, I actually liked it in the end, I found it very confusing at first, but once I knew what I was actually doing, it wasn't so bad! The pistol I felt wasn't overly that useful when compared to other offhand weapons, but as for the main weapon with the f1 ability, I liked it! Needed some serious tweaking on the traits & skills, but I believe I got there in the end! Have a look below! Hope it helps! Hi all, I managed to come up with some viable builds with the elite spec beta classes, *as is*, via mixing & matching traits, skills, equipment & weapons! If you're struggling, try this out, it has all 3 elite specs that have very good survival & decent dps! The Catalyst has massive healing potential if you f2 & 1-5 (which also gives a frost aura), before doing an f1 for the dps again >> (With a Staff of course!) These experiments are, *as is*, so feel free to change them up, but yup, overall they work! So check them out: >>
  8. Personally I felt the class was okay... however I'm not particularly good at swapping legends, or swapping skills back & forth for that matter & keeping track of what's healing & what's damaging, so I decided to experiment with the elite spec & greatsword & this is what I came up with... 10. As a dedicated GW2 player, I like to dream a little, you've tried out the Catalyst *as is...* Now imagine this instead: >> From Ancient Cantha, there exists a Secret Clan of Elementalists known as the Conflux Arcana, these spellcasters utilize the multi-faceted spells of the elements through their magical longbows to fire off spells to deadly effect! Utilizing Fire they can burn their foe's from afar, create deadly fire fields & even create walls of literal flames with their explosive fiery impacts! With the power of the wind they can match a Ranger with distance, even recalling their projectiles as they pass through their foes with electrifying impacts that can cause stuns, dazes & knockbacks! Their attunement towards water can heal allies from afar, bringing about healing springs from mother Tyria, removing conditions, chilling opponents & even freezing foes on a grand scale! And finally with the earth attunement they can bleed, knockdown, blind, block & even slow down their foes with muddy terrain before sending them flying with a tremor that rumbles & explodes with a devestating impact! See? That wasn't so hard! I'm certain most people who read the above would love to see this elite spec... instead of what we got! If you agree send this message a like! Cheers! Oh... co-incidentally I'm a full time fantasy writer with well over 2 million words written! I'm on Amazon if anyone is interested, >> Regards, Christopher John Hill
  11. *SIGH*, I believe we could all see the warning signs with the 757 dislikes as opposed to the other 2 beta classes that only received less then 200 each! So... was this class an utter train wreck? Unfortunately the answer to that question, (for the most part is, yes!) The hammer was slow, clunky & essentially places a total glass cannon into the fray! The majority of the attacks & skills were practically useless & as for the traits... they are at least salvagable... >> with a Staff! (But otherwise... Ergh!) Honestly I don't even want to suggest fixes to this class & I totally agree with many other players that ANET should just bin it & start over! The only reason I'd even consider taking catalyst at all is for the stability on the trait lines, otherwise... that's it! Seriously ANET, if your goals aren't in line with your player base, then in the long run, players will eventually jump ship! Personally, I believe you should have asked players what they wanted through a vote, rather then... this! Anyways... peace! :-)
  12. I just released a beta preview video, (was trying out the Elite Spec Classes on Hero Points during the Beta), so if Anet wanted to take a direct look at the elite specs in action to see where some of the fundamental flaws are during the actual combat, please feel free to do so >> Also... feel free to >> LoL, I know I did a couple of times >> (specifically at my epic fails while trying them out!) << Cheers &... I hope it helps!

  15. I have mixed feelings on this one... I felt the shroud abilities were great! Very powerful... but... in regards to your normal attacks with the pistol/dagger or pistol/focus... the damage on them felt a little... underwhelming. Even if you put the trait line on to reduce the cooldown, I still felt the pistol was nothing more then something you used to build up your lifepool again. (Meaning you'd always have to rely on shroud to do any real DPS) The elixirs were okay, but I agree with others... they felt very lackluster! It was like pressing my index finger down on an actual piano in a row... I mean... yes I love exlirs, but for every single utility slot? I felt like some actual aesthetic's that physically did something around your character would be more useful! Like for example creating clouds of corruption which you could then use as a combo field to fire through or gain aura's if you jumped through with a shroud ability. You could then add in all kinds of extra mechanics to cripple, blind, freeze, knockdown your foe simply by drinking an elixir when the enemy is standing nearby you, or heck even fire your pistol through them (more combo fields)! That's even more fun! These are just some idea's... after all they are elixirs, so use your imagination! But... to just drink them &... that's it? Boons? Ergh... not overly exciting! Here are just a few more idea's of what could potentially be done with the elixirs... >> snake cloud (cripples/posions/weakens enemies), carnivorous insect cloud, (bleed/slow/blind), acidic cloud (vulnerability/torment) & my absolute favorite, sub zero elixir cloud! (Freezes foe's/knocks down/chills), there ya see, that wasn't difficult, all you'd need to do was create a trait that would reverse the effects of the elixir & instead of providing boons could be used offensively! Something like >> Mad Alchemist << or >>Insane Alchemist << you could even make it so that these clouds damage you & your allies too lol... that'd make things very interesting! But otherwise... not too bad so far! I hope to see changes on the elixirs though... Cheers!
