Honestly I'm hoping for a proper ranged spec given that the current two are shoehorned into melee with the lowest base health and durability in the game. While I wouldn't mind rifles, I would say longbow Arcane Archer is more likely.

I would say Longbow or Rifle, what I want given that both of the current elite specs are shoehorned into melee is a long range (1500) heavily offensive class that sacrifices most of it's healing and support to be the nuke that mages are stereotyped as. Fire would focus on AoE and some burn dots, Air on power single target, Earth on single target split between power and bleed dots, and Water on ice based slows and snares. Give options to gear for power or for dots as this is a common problem with elementalists as a whole.
