  1. Don't get me wrong, I don't need a green star to guide me, I came from oldschool RPGs as well. I do like games which are based on free exploration and I really like the way the open world content is designed in GW2. Yet there is too luch filler content in between the story parts for my taste. The introduction of masteries confused me, true. All of a sudden, I had to switch my state of mind from "go follow the star" to "go and do whatever comes across your way" and it wasn't properly explained, imo.
  2. To me filler bars feel just like lazy writing and story telling. It always feels to me like I'm ripped out of the story to do some chores until I can finally continue. And you are right, GW2 had this type of content since release: Hearts are nicely wrapped filler bars, with HoT came masteries that somehow felt out of place and disrupted the flow of the story. Don't quote me on that since it's been a while, but I seriously felt confused when the game told me to go now and learn about my gilder or how to glide. Suddenly there were no directions anymore (no green star to guide me) and I started to search frantically for NPCs or events that could teach me how to build and to use my glider, until I found out I had to activate the mastery "filler bar" and had to do random and unrelated stuff until my character suddenly knew how to glide. It was a huge letdown at that time. I wish I had to do a specific quest, that feels in best case taylored just for my character, that taught me. I know it takes too much effort to tell the story in MMOs like single player games use to present it (a lot of cutscenes and personal decisions, etc, Baldur's Gate 3 comes to mind here), so it's understandable we do get filler content from time to time instead and having a mechanic like masteries gives players a feeling of longterm progression, yet I wish the main plot was presented in a more immersive way. Lucky enough the filler content we get doesn't (most of the time) consist of "Kill ten rats" or "A to B" tasks, but is tied to the open world which is filled with meaningful events and content, that directly relate to our current plot and contribute to the lore. So in the end it doesn't feel that shallow.
  3. Yeah, it would really help to keep up the immersion if we had to do specific tasks/events fitting our current progress in the personal story. I always avoid the big meta events when I have to do a "filler bar" because of big spoilers or unrelated content that break my immersion. Like mentioned before: When the main task is to search for a general, I don't want to go out and feed hungry Kryptis or fight gainst a huge wyvern that never was properly introduced before. But the downside would be that filler content becomes way less convenient, especially if events are bugged or when maps aren't crowded anymore and events become to difficult due to the lack of other participants, up to the point where people might get stuck in the story.
  4. I tried playing with turning with a & d instead of strafing, as well. But everytime I rightclicked my mouse to control the camera, the controls switched from turning to strafing again, so I gave up on it eventually and changed it back. So maybe your issue is related to mine, as well.
  5. After all those years I have accepted that the costs, the mechanics of the assembly and the effort to level a guild for hall decoration was always meant to be a long term goal for many players. But raising the (especially the local) decolimit, beeing able to rotate decorations arounf X, Y and Z axis before placing them and an option to allow visitors to enter the hall without beeing a member were always on top of my wishlist. 😊
  6. Thanks, bro. Your input was very important and made rethink and improve the layout over and over. 😊
  7. It's finally done! I proudly present you my sixth guild hall racetrack. Enjoy! πŸ™‚
  8. Ok, I'm really late to the party and you most probably are busy with the new release, but I just wanted to say thank you for fixing the bug, as well. Here is my project, that I finally was able to finish: Enjoy!
  9. The trailer from Nyoko is still my favourite beetle racing video, so awesome! 😍
  10. Yeah, looking forward to another Horrorween! 😍 Number: 101 Account: Andur.9275 Character: Lelina Falkenfeder
  11. I want to second this, please fix the camera rotation bug. I'm currently working on two beetle racetracks and won't be able to finish them because the trackpieces have to be placed almost pixel perfect.
  12. If regular longterm endgame activities like PvP, WvW, fashionwars, Raids (and other high level PvE content) are not your cup of tea, you still could search for niche activities like performing ingame music, speedrunning, griffon flying, beetle racing, jumping puzzles (taxi service), roleplaying, etc. There are many guilds and communities dedicated to those. 😊
  13. You are right, target clicking is meh... I use select nearest target and next target as keybinds (those two are part of my 30 shortcuts I mentioned) and also the ground target could be snapped to your current target, but this feature would give you real trouble with slow projectiles, because they could be kited too easily.
  14. Ok, this got me interested: How do you want to play GW2 with a controller properly? And how do you want to chat with other people? I have set up around 30 keys / shortcuts that I use regularly for movement and combat - keys for pinging/following targets, shortcuts for accessing inventory, the worldmap, settings, etc, not included and we didn't talk about chatting with others either. How would you realize that on a controller? Another thing: While moving around and turning the camera with the thumbsticks sounds really nice (although they lack the speed and precision of a mouse imho, but I know some players who are very skilled with the thumbsticks even on games like first person shooters), how do you want to select targets (usually done by left mouse click) or set ground targets at the same time? Can someone answer that? I'm really curious.
  15. It's always nice to have more Fashion Wars options, but for now the first thing on my wishlist for my Sylvari main would be the raptor bug to be completely fixed. 😊
  16. Yeah, you almost got it right. Rama is a multiclass lvl 70 detective / lvl 10 wizard now. 😁
  17. Yes, I still remember that phenomenon but I only witnessed it in the old GW1 days and always thought it - together with strange things like men beeing overly helpful towards players they assumed to be a woman and the girly hack - was gone long ago. I personally don't see my characters as a representation of myself, but some of my personal traits and preferences influenced their creation, so in reverse you could conclude some of things about my personality by having a look at my chars, their names and style etc. While I don't mind if you could make conclusions like that, it's easy for me to imagine when I continue that thought how awkward it must feel to someone who normally sees their character as a representation of themselves to roll a totally different char. Well I hope my mini wall of text made any sense, but the first explanation - for someone to visit the forums and ask complete strangers wether creating a female toon is a good idea or not - that came to my mind was that the OP really was unsure about the expectations of people, when they see their female character. Sorry that I talked about you in third person OP. I really hope you made your decision by now and enjoy your new character (if you created one). 😊
  18. Agreed. It would be sad if the gender of your toon was an issue, but imagine you see your character as an ingame representation of yourself or simply lack the confidence to explain the reason for your choice.
  19. Like others have stated already, just go ahead and create the character you have in mind and see if you like her. If the way how you might be percieved is the issue then let me assure you that I as a male player main a female Sylvari (I planned to main a human male character, but I didn't like his voice plus and the Sylvari is more fun playstyle-wise) and there were only a handful of occasions where people assumed my real life gender to be female as well and even those occasions weren't awkward or unpleasant in any kind.
  20. Can confirm - they still lack facial expressions and the clothes aren't animated while mounted on a raptor.
  21. I (also) think that appearance templates, which store every customizable part of a character (mounts and their specific dyes, mail carriers, jade bot skins, gliders, backpieces, fishing rods, chairs and everything else), would be very appreciated. For my main character I'd use three of such templates. One for beetleracing, one for everyday adventures and one for specific culture armor. 😊
  22. I didn't read the whole thread, so excuse me if something was mentioned before. I feel you, because I didn't enjoy most of the tasks required to obtain the skyscale. For example it was just annoying to collect some scales in the zone and return the next day to collect eggs at the very same locations (only the hints to said locations were different). Another thing that annoyed me was the collection of one stack of each map currency, especially because I already had them in my bank and decided to convert them to sellable materials one week before the release of the skyscale. But don't let the long list of tasks get you discouraged. You could do them one by one and if you do it only once a week and the process takes you a whole year to complete, so be it. 😊 If you decide to ignore the skyscale completely, let me assure you that there is only one thing that other mounts can't do: afk-hovering midair. Every other task can be done with other mounts more efficiently and in a more fun way. The skyscale is just a convenient "jack of all trades, master of none" kind of mount.
  23. I personally think it wouldn't hurt to have a griffon and a beetle time trial in every zone. 😊
  24. Today is the day! Squad will be open at quarter to seven CEST. Looking forward to see you guys! 😊
  25. Yeah, some cosplays I've seen are pretty awesome and I truly admire how creative people are and how they come up with great costumes - one guild, which I'm part of, even did a Pokémon fashion contest lately. But I'd be even more impressed, if those cosplays were done with items with coherent design 😜
