  1. My brother told me today that there's a red ring that appears, but it's 1/2 the thickness of normal enemy AoE circles and the transparency is turned up (more transparent), so it's practically impossible to see with all the visual noise in the fight.
  2. I forgot to mention that I have been really enjoying fishing. And the scenery is gorgeous.
  3. I rarely do PvP, so I can't speak on that, but most of the new elite specs are lackluster so probably not much changed. I've heard Machinst heal spec is really good for raids/strikes. The bot is mostly situational utility. The story is not as good as PoF, but it has some good moments. It felt a little shorter than I expected though. The turtle mount is fun, but not really useful outside a couple maps where seige damage specifically is needed. It's also a pain to get.
  4. It's honestly debatable right now. Some people are having a great time. Others not so much. I'd say it would be worth it for sure if it went on sale, but maybe a little iffy at full price depending on what content you like.
  5. Wait, there's telegraphs for bubbles and whirlpools? I've been looking for them and never seen anything.
  6. It seems Anet forgot to add a keybind for the turtle. I also have it unlocked with no keybind.
  7. My personal experience was 9 fails, 1 success. Some people get it much sooner, and one guy I talked to yesterday failed 30 with no success. It's a bit of a gamble unless you get into an organized group that's not listed on the LFG tool. The OP of the following post helped me with my first success. Really nice guy trying his hardest to actually help. Just be ready to actually listen to advice.
  8. If you want other people to be salty, you are the problem. This is the kind of attitude that kills games faster than any balance issues.
  9. I'd you pay attention to Aurene's voice lines, it's very clear the side swap is the bite.
  10. It's easily doable with 5-10 people. Just don't tell the whole map when it's up. At 15+ people the scaling is broken and it's impossible.
  11. Anet tweeted something about disabling the avid fisher achievements while they fix a bug. The normal first time ones should still work.
  12. Juvenile Siege Turtle has a niche use on Soulbeast. It has a blast finisher with no cooldown (bug?)
  13. For large groups, there are two problems I've seen. 1. The boss HP scales too fast. At 15-ish people, it was taking my group 2-3 crystals per 1% HP. At 10 people I didn't write it down, but I remember it being over 5% HP per crystal. 2. The mobs that drop the crystals get stronger with more people (normal -> veteran -> elite), but they don't spawn in larger numbers, so there aren't enough crystals to go around. A group of 5-10 people can easily kill the Maw, but more than 12 or 13 and it becomes impossible.
  14. For the "True Ending" achievement, it can trigger as completed even if you fail the event, so long as you attempt it. At least it did for me.
  15. Once you unlock the Arborstone mastery, work toward unlocking the crafting stations. While it isn't a dedicated bank, you can access your bank from any crafting station.
  16. I wasn't able to start it until after I completed the story. Don't know for sure if that's the requirement or not, just my experience.
  17. ... So what you are saying is that RNG isn't why people are failing, but your two main proposals are to fix the bad RNG? I agree that these solutions would help, but let's be honest here. The purpose is to make the event less random. Even the best groups will fail if they get back-to-back tails and missed breakbar damage from the boss switching sides immediately (which makes her not targetable for over half the vulnerability duration.) The RNG can make the boss invulnerable for half the fight, not including mechanics such as wisps or mini-bosses.
  18. They ended up being faster to get consistent kills because they were nerfed after launch. Chak was nerfed twice.
  19. The reason people are burning out over this is because the Siege Turtle mount, one of the most anticipated advertised aspects of this entire expansion, is gated behind it. People are tired of wasting 2 hours per attempt with no hope of actually beating this meta, and therefore never getting the chance to start the turtle collection.
  20. YES PLEASE! I would gladly pay gems for this, as long as it's account bound.
  21. You do realize that the overwhelming difficulty is making people burn out extra fast, right? Most people say that once they get the turtle egg they'll never touch this meta event again. It's not a reason for returning, it's a reason to never return after you clear it once.
  22. Yes, metas should be challenging. The real question is challenging to whom? What a map full of random average players find very challenging will be a cake walk to an oversized raid group. Open World content should be, above all else, accessible. The challenge should therefore be balanced around a group of 40 random people.
  23. You're right that this isn't the only thing that could be fixed, but it is easily one of the most annoying. Having an extra 3 minutes would have made all the difference in a couple of the run's I've done, which is exactly what my proposed solution would have given. It's not perfect, but it's at least an easily recognizable start.
  24. As most of us are aware by now, the Dragon's End meta event feels much more difficult than necessary. While I do agree with many people's opinion that a challenging meta that is not a guaranteed success is great, there is one fatal flaw with this one: the green circle phase. This phase can easily be completed in 30 seconds if, and only if, a small number of players who can quickly execute the mechanic (intentionally being vague here to avoid too many spoilers) standing on the green circles, and no one else does. The problem is that it only takes 1 person; be it a player who simply is not informed, lacks the skill to quickly execute the mechanic, or is intentionally trolling; to make the final fight an almost guaranteed failure. Fortunately, there is a (on paper) easy solution. Make the phase end when HALF the people who stand on green circles completes the mechanic. This would make a relatively small number of good players able to compensate for a few with lacking knowledge or skill, and eliminate the possibility of a single troll ruining 40+ other people's experience. As this event takes 2 hours per attempt (1 hour downtime preparation + 40 minutes pre-boss meta + 20 minutes boss fight), allowing just a single person the opportunity to ruin the entire map's time is just poor design. TLDR; Make it so only half the green circle people need to complete it to prevent trolls.
  25. Here's an idea that my brother mentioned that might be a good compromise between those who like the time gate and those who don't. Make the time gate not dependent on daily reset. If there must be wait time between completing one part of the collection and starting the next, make the time consistent. My main problem with the time gate as it stands now is that if you are just 1 minute too slow, you now have 24 hours where you can make absolutely no progress, while the guy next to you was only slightly faster and now has all day to work on the next part. It actively punishes people who prefer to take their time and enjoy the content. If the wait was, for example, 2 hours regardless of when you completed the previous step, I feel a lot fewer people would be upset. Point is, there are ways to make a time gate that are a lot better than the way this was implemented.
