  1. yeah, but I am not the one argueing from that perspective. Magic did not work that well on historical battlefields either, if that is of any concern here...
  2. Hey, it is not me that brought realism into this 🙂 if it were up to me, you could join the military and introduce all kinds of arcane innovations there.
  3. something like in all fantasy/superhero/pulp writing: Something vastly more powerful that was behind all of that, and which conveniently noone ever noticed before 😛
  4. if you think of yourself as being classy or something similiar, you are wrong.
  5. how many threads are you going to start with basically the same topic regarding an incomplete product of which you only have seen glimpses yet? Go play your proposed game of 1999 then if you are that unhappy. Nope, I am not a fanboy, actually, I have given up on the game over a year ago, I just dislike m... certain types of people.
  6. the big picture is irrelavant to a single customer though.
  7. you think the spear is already in game and it just needs to be "allowed" on land, just like that? You are not exactly "computer savy" are you? Also, no, you rarely see a "focus" in modern warfare. Might have something to do with mages really being a rarity on today´s battlefields.
  8. needs more content like this. The exclamation marky rage is exquisite.
  9. that "first world problem" argument is utter BS. So nothing ever should be improved in the west? "But children are starving in Africa!" - so we are not going to change things in games? Yeah, right...
  10. I have not played this game in a year and I could not care less what happens to my character names, but once such a system is implemented, I will reinstall and relog just to spite OP 😆
  11. crowdfund a subsidary of a major Korean corporation? Yeah, right... wanna donate to Samsung next for the new Galaxy model? 🙂
  12. This is just so wonderful. You got the guy doing nothing but name dropping, believing himself a "critical thinker" while sticking to the very antithesis of criticial thinking, good ol' Manuel, the neo-platonic shaman of accept-what-the-collective-tells-you-ism while maskerading as one the enlightenment dudes, and also doing nothing but using argumentum ad verecundiam. Then of cause you have the post-whateverism and intersectionality crowd jumping in, "but but but old dead white guy, eurocentricism, something something racism" mixed with a grain of body positive "if you look with the heart, not the eye, everyone is beautiful and divine". Pretty entertaining. Please more of such threads. PS: Yeah, OP is right, a noticeable proportion of the Tyria' s saviours is a complete clown fiesta.
  13. number 8 of ALL played MMOs, if that is correct, that is certainly not crazy low. Quite the opposite.
  14. and now that the illusion is dramatically shattered, how would the proposed visual effect ever heal that for you?
  15. It is a game very you have to accept real loss as a possible outcome. That is certainly very different from most games on the market. Also the reason why people form real interest groups. Not better, not worse, just a different design philosophy.
  16. you will understand the day the game shuts down and you madly click in your desktop shortcut.
  17. It is really pointless to explain this to us, remember, none of us has a job or a life outside of this game.
  18. Or what maths says... meta is not an acronym.
  19. because while most people would agree it is a stupid business model (and working in a related field, I still have to see some reliable proof of this model performing better than e.g. offering digital items the whole year around and stimulating interest with an actual limited sale of those), you making this about a grande crusade regarding morals and business ethics and "woe is me" is rather off-putting. But one has to be lenient here, I think the general life situation you describe is straining for all of us mentally. So in essence, yes, the business practice is BS, but hardly justifies moral outrage. Or maybe it does, still, you cannot expect everyone to share your particular values.
  20. not sure what you are doing here (and basically the whole thread). So you define everything you struggle with as not being part of actual difficulty, so things are not too hard for you but... I don´t know what. I think this is intellectually unsound.
