  1. The DX12 API works very differently from DX11, which was closer to DX9, thus making the upgrade more simple. If I understand correctly, upgrading to DX12 would basically require a full rewrite of the render pipeline and supporting components.
  2. This question was asked last year (by yourself, actually), and it seems that the consensus is that because GW2 is hosted on AWS, there is sufficient redundancy and that this shouldn't be a problem. AWS are pretty good at what they do, arguably the best IMHO. I throw data at them all the time and I never worry about losing it. Still, I keep my own backups on my servers at home. I would presume that ANet do the same. They have far too much at stake to be able to afford not to.
  3. WoW has direct support for addons (and an official addons API), whereas in GW2 it's much more of a grey area. That said, I can't see any reason why this wouldn't be permitted. It seems to abide by all current guidelines that I can find. Realistically, it's no different to having another window open that just listens in on your keypresses and removes items from a list as it goes (just like TacO is really no different to having a map open on another screen).
  4. Yes, but no. It's the other way around:
  5. I've had this issue for as long as I can remember. I'm currently playing through Living World Season 2, and I cannot complete Hidden Arcana. I have disconnected at two cutscenes within Glint's Lair - the one after defeating the Malevolent Memory, and at the memory cutscene after defeating the Distorted Facet of Light. This is rather problematic and takes all sense of fun out of the game. I really enjoyed the Malevolent Memory encounter, but the thought of having to do it again in order to progress is grueling. I've tried numerous things in this thread - camera settings, firewall settings, antivirus - everything short of using a VPN, because I feel like that shouldn't be expected of me to get my game working, and would degrade gameplay quality even further. Technical details that might matter include several ISPs, Windows 7 and Windows 10, antivirus and firewalls disabled (even though they're most likely not the culprits), running in compatibility mode, running as administrator, and various builds from an AMD Athlon with an ATI (remember them?) HD 6770 to a i7 7700k and GTX 980s.
