  1. Just listening (and following) to the audio of the stack commands, blast commands, move commands, bomb commands, regroup commands, push commands, focus on down commands as well as the players saying when the skills were ready was magical when coordinated. Maybe it was too high a ceiling to last. But it was fun.
  2. I do think that the devs created DBL by listening to the players and their issues with ABL. However, I think that the root cause of most of the problems with ABL were not in the map design but rather in the imbalance in populations of the glicko match system. Only hills and it's choke points could be defended by a lesser population. The tower-keep treb range was only a problem if your side wasn't large enough to take out the other side's siege. And if you were the lower pop server in a locked match the same thing happened day after day after day. Another issue the players brought up was you could wipe the opposition in garri but they could respawn and get back in before you could get enough supply to close the gates. On one side you can say that if you defeated the opponent at garri you should be rewarded by being able to repair the gates. But I remember one match where both sides of garri was open and we spent a couple of hours constantly fighting. When I logged out that night I just exhaled. It was the best time I spent in WvW. I've never seen anything like it since. The idea of having the event in the middle of DBL was to get a three way fight but that usually ended up being such a lag fest it wasn't worth the time. It was worse than a three way SMC fight.
  3. Yeah, about that vote... I remember during the voting period that someone at Anet went on another site and said that it took over a year of development to get DBL and if the players voted DBL out then Anet would stop map development for WvW. The optimistic players, I was one, took that as if we voted to keep DBL then Anet would develop a third BL map in the future. Still waiting on that third BL map.....
  4. Anet was more active in GW1 removing bots in Jade Quarry. Reporting was easier and bot player names didn't show up the next day. I don't know how good they were at dealing with hacks and exploits. It's just not something that has ever been high on their resource allocation in GW2, with the exception of their removal of the orb in the very beginning of WvW.
  5. You'll only hear from Anet about WR if it's done, usually about a month ahead of release, OR you'll hear that they scrapped it, usually about 2-3 years afterwards.
  6. You read that as WvW is a cornerstone of GW2, and as a cornerstone it will always be a focus. I'm sure Anet meant that, at that time. But I've since come to the realization that what they really meant was..... "Our new leadership team views WvW as a cornerstone mode of Guild Wars 2, and it will be a focus of ours going forward, at least until something of a higher priority (Expansions, PvE content) comes along." WvW hasn't been a priority for years, it's not going to change anytime soonᵀᴹ
  7. It's an exploit if Anet fixes it, otherwise it's a feature. Anet's definition of cornerstone isn't the same as yours. I believe Anet's definition of cornerstone is part of GW2 that was one of the three areas of gameplay (PvE, PvP and WvW) in the original release.. I believe Anet's definition of core is a part of GW2 that came with the original release that technically doesn't need more money (expansions) to play. Neither core nor cornerstone means that Anet maintains/supports WvW
  8. No, I was working midnight shift then. 9PM-7:30AM Sunday-Thursday.
  9. I remember watching Monty Python on the PBS station late at night....before there was cable.
  10. I lost all hope Anet was going to fix WvW long before I stopped playing..... I just like re-reading the same repeated threads, it amuses me.
  11. Then Anet should say: We're no longer going to fix map issues, or create a new map...which they haven't in a long time. We're no longer going to fix skills, pathing issues, ets...which they haven't in a long time. We're no longer going to punish hackers/exploiters...which they haven't in a long time. We're no longer going to try to balance population...which they've never been successful at. Just bring back free transfers and let the players figure it out. Turn WvW into a 1v0v0 and everybody's a winner.
  12. How's that any worse than having a WvW team work on a project. Anet moves them to a PvE project without telling the players. Then the WvW devs leave Anet and finally telling the players 2-3 years later that they aren't working on that project anymore? The last place to look for a fix for WvW is within Anet. WvW has been for years very low priority and is lucky to have anyone doing maintenence.
  13. WvW development can be summed up as Anet constantly lowering their standards and consistently failing to meet them.
