  1. Did they fix this now? It's still so slow for me that it's virtually unusable right now.
  2. I agree. What is the point of removing foods from ToT though?
  3. The donation goals have been updated again and the bonus effect has finally arrived in the game! Image showing Extra Life Bonus Very brazen, how the tweet below comes across, I think. Suggests the effect should be live since today, which is definitely not true (blogpost Extra Life 2022 Is Next Week). Tweet
  4. 😂 I'm genuinely impressed with how closely you looked at the outfits. The outfits mentioned really don't benefit from those emebellishments. Far too often are unnecessary scraps of fabric used, from which the outfit gains nothing but clutter. In these cases, less would really have been more. I would even go so far to say the term "embellishment" is pretty euphemistic here. It seems to me that it is primarily about covering up what is supposedly obscene or, concerning the Winter Solstice Outfit, masking design flaws.
  5. Might very well be like that. I hope for the best.
  6. The Extra Life fundraising charity of Anet has greatly underperformed this year with only $9,003 raised so far. This is a meager 5% of last years $175,000 (GW2 Wiki Extra Life)! Just checked LA again: still $8,508. They really should fix the donation goal updates and the missing extra life bonus asap. It's been a week since start already, time is running out...
  7. Just joined LA some minutes ago and the donations so far were finally visible under the Extra Life section. The corresponding achievement is updated as well, but still no bonus enhancement. 😭
  8. Thanks a lot for posting that dev info! According to Mike O'Brien — not part of Anet anymore btw — it is so costly, since armor sets have to be designed for each armor weight and then modified to match each race and sexes, "so it's like developing 30 sets" (O'Brien). For Outfits it's similar to developing 10 armor sets [(1 appreance fits all weights) * (5 races) * (2 sexes) = 10 sets]. The expense of creating an outfit cannot therefore exceed one third of the cost of one armor set and it should take at most three months to develop. Is it a matter of fact that only 4 outfits are released per year?
  9. Can't say I agree. You're fine with how many new armor skins get released then?
  10. While clipping is surely not desirable, it's imo still preferable to have some of it ingame, if that pushes the release frequency of new armor skins.
  11. I feel like Anet has some problems with those special event effects atm. The WvW beta buff is still ingame, while the beta actually ended a week ago yesterday. Let's hope they add the already made donations to the goal retrospectively.
  12. If I remember correctly, Anet stated once that it also takes them so long to make armor skins vs. outfits, because they check every existing armor skin on compatibility with the new skins to avoid clipping. This production approach is imo pretty ridiculous in itself. It just cannot be that making new fashion becomes ever more complicated and expensive with time. Anet needs to find a way to establish "fashion" production standards that make it obsolete to check for major clipping.
  13. Thought so too at first, but the blogpost clearly states otherwise: "A special enhancement effect is available in game from now until November 16:" (Blogpost). 'From now', meaning as of the blogpost's date, which was on October 25, 2022 ‒ three days ago.
  14. Still not even a twitter post acknowledging that they're aware of it.
  15. I really like gw2 for its fashion, not exclusively ofc. I feel like Anet tries to compensate the lack of new armor skins with producing loads of rod, bot, mount and weapon skins. Shifting some of the resources from there to the production of new armor skins would be very welcomed by the community, I think.
  16. Just checked the wiki page and ingame wardrobe of said waterdragon set pieces. You're correct, some pieces are not totally the same for each armor weight, but not fundamentally different either. The only difference between armor weights: "On the Water Dragon Legguards (medium skin), the skirt is missing and appeares on the Water Dragon Chestguard (medium skin) piece instead." (Water Dragon Armor Set (Gallery)). Not sure I understand this conclusion, other than the different weights look the same when used together (as an Outfit). Some pieces (Chestplate and Legguards) certainly aren't the same when used with other armor pieces. Each individual part is interchangeable nevertheless. Anet probably decided to remove the skirt from medium leg armor, since medium armor traditionally has a lot of trousers.
  17. This is an interesting notion, never thought about it that way. This skin set took the best of both worlds: from outfits the useability regardless of armor weight and from actual armor skins the interchangeability of each individual part. I think it's also a good compromise between outfits and armor skins for developers. The development cost of armor skins is obviously much higher compared to that of outfits. The cost of producing hybrid armor skins like the water dragon one may be somewhere in between outfits and armor skins. The production cost is surely not the only point to be consiered, when making the decision of what to make: outfit or armor skins. They also have to anticipate the demand of what they produce. I can see sets like the water dragon one having higher costs than outfits, but they might well have a similar demand as standard armor skins, possibly making it the path-breaking way of developing gw2 fashion and thus keeping or even increasing a strong part of Anet's income. Imo a stronger focus on making hybrid armor skins would be in everybody's best interest: higher frequency of new, interchangeable armor skins for the community, while Anet can circumvent producing the seemingly uneconomic normal armor skins.
  18. There are no donation goal updates under the golden star "Extra Life" section in the top right corner of the screen. It seems like nobody has the "Extra Life Bonus" either, even though, according to yesterdays blogpost, it should've been granted to everybody from October 25th onwards.
  19. I assume you did order later this day than I did, which was in the morning. So, they should still have had gem cards in stock, when I ordered. Good to know, but still no codes -.-
  20. I've bought gem cards from Gameliebe this morning, which I still haven't received. Since the product description says the codes are delivered immediately, I've also tried to contact them via their live chat support. I've started in the 9th positon of the queue and stopped waiting when I got in the 3rd position, which was literally ‒ I've really been stupidly patient, lol ‒ a couple hours later around 5 pm (CEST). Even if it's just one person doing live chat support, how can it take so long to answer seven customers' questions?! I've already sent them an email now. Anyway, I also don't understand, why Anet chose all those shops for the discount campaign. Not one of those was known to me before. I don't get, why players in the US could buy discounted gem cards from well known companies like amazon, while in Europe we can't. Europe has a lot of GW2 players too, not just the US. It just doesn't feel like we're equally valued as our friends from across the pond. Update: I've received all my keys by now. They were sent in plaint text, I could simply copy and paste them ingame. As others in the thread already mentioned Gameliebe was overwhelmed by the sheer amount of gem card orders. Although that demand could have been anticipated, I'm happy that they informed me yesterday evening about their status and that I got the keys delivered early this morning at around 2 am (CEST). I'd buy from them again, they're reliable.
  21. Oh, didn't know that. Thx for letting me know!
  22. I've just read a newspaper article about a data center in Europe that burned down. Most of the data stored on the burnt servers is lost now, since many clients of the cloud provider OVH, which was running the center, did not make sure to have a backup of the data outside of said center. There's a french game studio, called Facepunch, which is famous for it's game "Rust". They had all of their players' data stored there, while not having a backup somewhere else. All players' data is now gone, forever ... Obviously, as a long time, avid GW2 player, this made me think about the situation of GW2 players' data. Imagine, what happened to the data center of OVH, happening to a center, where GW2 data is stored: a huge amount of relevant servers burnt to a crisp. Imagine its implication for the game and even for Anet as a whole, if there's no backup of the burnt data. I can only speak for me, but I surely wouldn't play GW2 anymore, if I had to start from zero again. Not to think of, what it would mean to Anet as a game studio! Anyway, OVH is (maybe was?) Europe's cloud computing market leader, a highly successful and professional enterprise only recently announcing their initial public offering expecting to get a rating of 1 billion euro in value! What happened to OVH can most definitely and will eventually happen to others in the industry. Now, does Anet have a backup of GW2 players' data stored somewhere else, than where the original data is being kept? What I've written might just sound alarmist to some, since such incidents rarely happen, but if they do, then with great, often fatal impact! 23. Good morning :) Item: Jora's OutfitRace : HumanGender: FemaleClass : Elementalist (Tempest, if it matters)Problem: The outfit somehow modifies the character's breast shape, which looks really ugly tbh. :/Hope you can fix this, would be much appreciated!
