While I agree that losing a 2v1 is an indication of skill imbalance rather than class imbalance, I don’t think this means the less skilled players shouldn’t join pvp. How else are they supposed to learn to get better beside practice, especially against better players? Also, there seems to be a really wide skill gap that you can face in pvp. For example, I have won multiple 1v2, 1v3, 1v4, and even a couple 1v5 battles. I have also lost plenty of 2v1 battles and even some 3v1.

Can confirm that the hot fix also fixed the issue for me! Glad they got it fixed fast!

I also should have been grandfathered in, but was not. I also have completed the explorable paths per the unlocked requirements subsequent to the patch, and they are still locked. Both the grandfathering and unlocking appear to be bugged.

Well I completed several more runs of the AC explorable paths and everything is still locked. I submitted a ticket with no response yet. Has anyone who had items locked out after the patch been successfully able to unlock items by running the explorable paths? The unlocking also seems to be broken, not just the grandfathering.

Well according to the grandfather exceptions they listed in the patch notes I should be able to buy gift of ascalon. However, it is locked. Even after running 5 paths again, it’s still locked. This is very frustrating.

I always deposit all the mats I earn no matter what content I do. Then I sell unidentified gear, junk, and get coin from opening loot bags and chest. So I end up with probably 5-10g after a play session using sell now prices on the trading post. I don’t really ever quantify how much “gold” I’m depositing in the mat storage. So my real earning could be a fair amount higher.

Trolls deserve no mercy. It should auto delete their account and then magically fry their machine. Realistically nothing will happen though. Trolls will keep trolling because unfortunately there are no consequences for being a kitten in the game.

The real question should be: why in the world is fishing even allowed in pvp?

Just relayed my experience. I split my time between doing meta events and spvp. I earn some each session, but I also don’t have a lot of time to play each week. Just relaying my experience. I don’t do any stat swapping or use spirit shards to get wealth. And I am still using them faster than I earn them. It may be that some of the people that use them up faster than they earn them just don’t have enough time to play. And that’s fine. But there are legitimately some instances where people don’t earn them as fast as they use them and they end up being a bottleneck. Not saying they need to change it, just saying that it does happen.

I have several hundred shards, but they are being used up fairly quickly in crafting legendary armor. I can certainly see how those who are crafting a lot of legendary items can run out if they don’t have a huge stack already.

Better to just not play a mode than to ask for it to be removed.

I used to hate necros a lot in pvp. Sometimes they can still annoy me, but so does every other class at times. The fact of the matter is that I am just not as good as many others and there I no reason to resort to blaming class balance. I have found that the following works well when facing necros or when I am a necro facing others: -Heavy ranged damage -cc -focus fire The first two you can do on your own depending on your build. The last point I know may cause contention, but it’s true. It is true for all cases. If teams would learn to focus fire more on priority targets, then team fights would go a lot better.

Staff daredevil is quite a bit of fun. It is fast, mobile, decent damage including AoE. Im currently really into specter, but staff daredevil will probably always remain my favorite spec of all time across all classes/specializations.

I have used Logitech g600 and razer naga trinity. I must have had bad luck with the g600. My first one lasted about a year before it stopped working completely. Bought a second one and it lasted 3 months. Then I switched to the trinity and it’s been working fine for close to 2 years now. So based on that I’d have to vote for the trinity.

I took a somewhat lengthy break from the game midway through LW Season 4. Just after domain of Istan and the Palawadan Meta. Didn’t hate the game or anything, just was time for a break. I learned that a new expansion had just come out so decided to buy it and get back into the game last week. I managed to get my friend to come back as well. Thief has always been my main so I had a lot of extra unused hero points. So I unlocked specter. I never thought I’d enjoy a support class in GW 2 given that I don’t generally enjoy them in any game. That said, I am really enjoying Specter. It is especially awesome for a duo adventuring. I’m glad they released this spec instead of just another dps only spec. Based on first impressions, I think I still enjoyed daredevil the most when it released, but I am enjoying specter as much as I did deadeye, which is quite surprising to me.

Thanks for the clarification. I was missing the part that the heal was consuming the percentage of the remaining shadow force and not just a heal based on a percentage of my health. That makes much more sense now.

I’m also recently returning and was trying to test out consume shadows. I read the tool tip and it sounded like I just need to stay in shroud long enough to get max stacks and the. Upon exiting shroud I should then get the heal/barrier. However, sometimes I seem to get no heal/barrier at all. Other times I get a variable amount. What am I missing?

Imagine if they brought back City of Heroes. (We will never forget.) NCSoft put everything behind ArenaNet and GW 2 at the time and while I don't regret their decision to back GW 2, I've missed CoH ever since. I’d drop GW2 in a heart beat if they brought COH back. I know it had its own issues, but no other game entertained me even half as much as COH did.

I can find a group doing Istan farm, which includes great hall almost every single time I get on. It’s one of, if not the best farm, and is pretty easy to find a group doing it in my experience.

This was a hard one for me. I am going to say thief since it was my first toon and probably the one I’ve spent the most time on. Second most played is probably ranger. Though I go between all the professions often. There may be a couple months that I don’t even touch the thief and play my rev and engi instead. Or sometimes I’m really into necro and guardian. Last couple weeks I’ve been really into my soulbeast and weaver. A few weeks before that it was my Deadeye and herald.

Getting ascended gear is easy. Can be done with wvw, pvp, pve, or crafting. It doesn’t take long especially if you craft it. Getting a crafting profession to 500 takes about 45 minutes and really isn’t all that expensive. You get a lot of mats in wvw, which would make the crafting cheap anyway. I’ve played for about a year and a half. I only started thinking about ascended gear about 6 months ago. Since then I have 3 full sets of ascended armor (one for each weight), two sets of trinkets (one power focused and one condi focused), 2 daggers, a sword, a great sword, a staff, a rifle, a pistol, an axe, a longbow, and a hammer. I also have 3 legendaries (The Ascension, Bolt, and Predator). I don’t play 24/7. Usually 5-8 hours per week (if I’m able to at all in a given week). If I can do that in 6 months others can too. Honestly I bet most can do it faster as it seems like others play quite a bit more than me. I don’t think new players should just be given BIS in wvw. If they want a game mode that doesn’t have any gear relevance they can play spvp. Exotic armor is almost as good and is extremely cheap and easy to get. A new player can gear up in level 80 exotics the same day they reach level 80. I did. That is more than enough to be competitive in wvw. I honestly got ascended more as an accomplishment and less of a stat advantage. It’s small enough to be irrelevant in wvw in my opinion.

Why does one hat in real life cost 15 bucks and another cost 200? Some hats are deemed more desirable and therefore worth more than others.

I read that. It doesn't say I can only ask for one item, however. It says that I have the ability to ask for an item, but it doesn't specifically say that I can only ask for an item. It goes out of its way to say that I can only make one request, but that request can be any number of items, as other requests have shown (asking for large amounts of varied crafting materials) especially if they're working toward a singular goal, which mine is, completing the set I want for one of my characters. So, yeah. You're just harassing me at this point for no legitimate reason. How about you just leave it be and move on? It isn't against the rules and it isn't hurting anyone for me to have simply asked for something in a thread that's all about asking for things. I think you are missing the spirit of the original post in the original thread. This was never supposed to be about asking for legendaries or really expensive things. People just turned it into that and asking for other stuff like shadow abyss dye and precursors. These are very expensive items. They did say that asking for help with a component of legendary was okay. For example in my original request I asked for help with some materials. Heck even my post may have been inappropriate. I tried to make it very clear that I was not asking for a precursor or a legendary. I asked for help with elder wood, mithril, or any tier 6 mat. I also tried to make it clear that I wasn’t asking for all of it, but only if people had some spare. It may have been better to just ask for 250 elder wood planks. Something like that is reasonable. Cost less than 10g. And is helpful to newer players who likely only have like 50 silver. I didn’t end up getting any help, but I followed the rules and said that my desire had been self fulfilled. Maybe that is a cheaper gift than what the OP is thinking, but I highly doubt the OP was thinking of gifts worth hundreds or even thousands of gold. I think that people asking for prohibitively expensive items, asking for multiple items, and posting multiple requests has led to people monitoring the thread and some toxicity, which I’m sure the OP never wanted. He just wanted a giving community to help out others with reasonable requests. I had posted in the original thread for some help with elder wood or mithril. New forums came out a few weeks later so I think it was lost in the transition. I don’t think anyone looks at the old ones, but just in case I wanted to follow the rules and say that I have self fulfilled my desire. I farmed Lake Doric like crazy for months to get gold and I just completed crafting The Predator yesterday, which is why I needed the elder wood and mithril. Thanks to anyone who helps out with other’s reasonable requests though. I think that is a great thing to do.
