From my experience the problem isn't that the computer locks up. It's that the mouse input is ignored. The keyboard seemingly still works (so you can kill the program by doing ctrl+shift+ESC, pressing tab until the name field is selected, press down until you are on the Guildwars entry, pressing tab again until you're at exit program and pressing space to kill Gw2). It's still a faff though 😊
