  1. If only 2 people are in legend in NA and the rest are in 1600s and below, how is plat easier to reach now when people in gold 3 are in top 250. Like I said, don't try to downplay the man's accolades. With a scale like that, platinum is actually...good. The sword/dagger thief, build 1, has condi removal on its return skill of sword 2, and is 80% reduced movement impairment, which is essentially max 1/4 second you can pin me down, and it has removal on weapon swap. Daredevil removes movement impairment on dodge, and has the above 3 skills, and weapon sigil on swap. Even the assassin has the above 3 skills and weapon swap. Not especially weak to condi, but not god-tier either. Either way, I would probably have dodge the skill before you ever hit me but if you did, weakness is only 3 secs, so I'd move around and wait then weapon swap and get out of dodge.   3. If the matchmaker is working, if the matchmaker worked... And it made every match it could as fair as possible.... Wouldn't that mean you have a 50/50 chance at winning? Is that not a forced 50% W/R Ratio Potential? Why is anyone trying to deny this? If it's trying to make matches based on a team average mmr, getting them as close as possible.... Doesn't matter what you FEEL, no one cares what you FEEL, the match maker is making fair matches right? Or it is trying, in theory, low pop aside, smurfs aside, devious intentions aside, disconnects aside, rage babies quitting aside, long waits and expanding searches aside.... ALL matches are fair amirite? If you just let everyone play anyone, then you could claim it wasn't a 50/50. Just do away with matchmaking in the game and let it be random, you will have better matches probably.
  4. These are viable builds. They work from Bronze to Plat 1 confirmed by yours truly, and all are FTP except the last one, which is daredevil. I'll add some DE builds later. Buttered up with almost 2700 Power and 200% Critical damage, swiftness, and boon share, with lower steal recharge and double use stolen skill, this one is still a solid choice. You want to avoid heavy projectile defense, and your condi defense is lower, but you can take traits to alleviate some of that. You look for decaps, low health scabs, and giving your team a quick +1. You can spend a few resources to harass someone trying to take your point long enough if help is on the way, and bringing basilisk helps pinned down focused targets at the expense of your escape card. It has more DPS than the shadow arts variant, double stolen skill usage, and the ability to recharge one of your utilities. ---
  5. Yeah, it's probably why I said that. I already said SA DP is a thief build gatekeeper. But realistically, only in 1 v 1, and the build I posted you can't hawk me down, so it's really up to flavor of the team if I avoid the duel. So, in short, if you play and avoid taking a 1 v 1 with DP thief, you can be an asset to your team, perhaps even more so if they have strong support.
  6. Well..... Depending on the amount of active players versus those registered on that site, you could be getting a very reasonable sample. Not sure how far it would ultimately deviate from those results in RL, but I would bet they are pretty close scaled up. Necro and Guard are obviously the most played classes, and that just obvious, but it is also true on that site.
  7. Idk, I see s/d enough to believe players are aware that it's still strong. You can go marauders on core and still have 2700 power on scholars, it's punishing to everything and evasive. Maybe players feel like sa dp fate keeps then out, but if SA takes a nerf, you will probably see a rise in thief variety, in general. Most thief builds bring what is needed to be successful, but there is one main gatekeeper ...even so, I think variants of SD like the one I linked finds ample success even if there is an SA DP, just one more duel to avoid. The tradeoff always seemed fair.
  8. Nah, they ain't rare anymore. See them as often if not more than other classes, and thet are the undisputed side noder with 0 lb for lb contenders. Yesterday is over, and you got any rank any day just as easily, don't try to downplay the man's achievement. I'd faster laugh at the boonbeast and weaver plats of the past then now. Now you got to carry afks, rangers, fight 4 necros, uneven matches, DC exploits..... If anything getting into plat and top 250 solo is the sign of a far better player than those of old.
  9. The swipe change won't happen. When it first changed, thief mains, including myself, begged for a longer range, and said we could live without the unblockable. We asked for 900. We did polls, all kinds of whining... We made threads for over a year. We adapted, and are grateful to get a rupt when we can. But it's not going to change. The dodge mehcanic for DD has been nerfed. The dodge choices are what the elite revolves around, and it's core design, another thing that is not going to fundamentally change. Just let it go. Shadowarts will probably get some chops, and even though smokescreen has been chopped, it will get chopped again. THing is, many DD's still run critical strikes or deadly arts, and we are going to hear about more nerfs, from new players who have no clue about anything. Acro is a must take for the core S/D thieves, and yes they still do play. S/D is hands down the best way to neuter any guardian in a game. You can't duel a D/P thief, but he can't exactly chase you down and kill you either especially if you run HiS as your heal and hit a steal on him. Critical strikes is better for upfront dps if you are only going to go for +1 bursts and decaps. Deadly arts is a solid choice instead if you want to play cleanup, +1s and decap. Shadow arts gives staying power at the cost of DPS, and that staying power will be the only legitimate reason it would get clipped. The rest of the stuff you asked for isn't going to happen. Genuine question, did you not see the other 3 thief threads on the first page of pvp? Could you not make a comment in one of those or post this in thief forum?
  10. No class can pressure them....lmao. The delusion. They can not stay at any point without dying, and this mode isn't related to 10 year long wvw duels, or scraping up daily farmers who get frisky.

  13. They are are very hard to kill because they use their defenses yo survive that they need to survive and I don't know how to adapt to play against them. They are super prevalent, 3 of each per game, sometimes everyone is on or the other. It has to be OP because they make up 80% or more of every game. Shroud, too often Aegis and protection out the wazoo. Barrier and evades for weeks. Too Many O P. Delete them.
  14. Thief isn't OP. Most posts right now are coming from absolute noobs. Or, the other more drawn out belong to higher level players dealing with God tier thieves and trying to make it out as if everyone can play it to that level. They could be experiencing a cheater too, but 99% it is one or the other above scenario. Thief is ok because it can still decap but most scene between bronze to plat 1 are mostly limited and that's why you see tons of necros and guards because they are strong for everyone from rating 0 to rating 2100.
  15. Don't worry, you are correct. A deadly arts dd will have up to 240 more power and more damage modifiers and poison. A critical strikes daredevil will have up to 500 more conditional ferocity, +damage modifiers in the minors. Maybe they were actually confused. A core thief running both and trickery with a lynx for the speed or scholarsbecause you don't care hits the hardest of all.
  16. Shadow arts doesn't give nearly enough damage to be a ganker. You need to run deadly arts or critical strikes, perhaps both if dropping daredevil.

  18. Shroud is and always has been the most busted mechanic in game, and it's given to a class with the highest health. Guess the game is full of busted things.
  19. Thief was nerfed to be a decapper, they took away the tools to duel, and barely left the ones to decap. But decap at will is mostly untrue today as any side noder can keep us away, and most roamers can chase us down, and the ones that can chase us down, are very unfavorable matchups. You can counter a thief with any duelist/roamer. --- More truth here than most of the anti-thief posts --- Thief is balanced by it's skill floor. Most can not use it to the potential you imagine yourself capable of, but please go in game and get yourself farmed by the "annoying pro thieves" that seem to be ever prevalent. --- No nerf comes without more nerfs to others, that is to be sure, but if you are in the thief food chain heirachy and you are above it, this will hurt you as it brings nerfs you don't want, and will likely put more predators into your own food chain. Imagine if they remove stealth and compensated thief with something to make up for it, you call that Revenant. If they delete thief, we will just move over and main that, and guess who is gonna be here on the forum chopping block next. Realistically, if I was guessing they are going to probably nuke shadow arts and smokescreen, or change them for thief. Necro will get a damage reduction nerf. Weaver will get a might and barrier nerf. Warrior will get nerfed. Ranger will get another druid nerf. Mesmer will get blurred inscription nerf. Guardian will get probably nothing but soldier runes removed. I don't think anyone else will get touched.

  21. How hard is it to play a counter? Think about what really irks you and how it might be countered. I know asking here won't help. So, tell me what build you have trouble with, and I will tell you the counter. Maybe some other coward will step up, but likely not, because they don;t want to be ridiculed by their build. I am immune, because I am not worried about correction.
  22. War is just a ut slot change as needed, and thief is just a sigil slot change. Condi is condi. Nothing really impacted. Confused? Should I legit post a build and label it as the counter for each problem anyone has? I will.
