  1. Bit of a general question, but what does core offer over one of the Elites? Alliance for example seems really strong with the two skill sets.
  2. Yeah the delay on skill 5 is just awful, it needs to be removed in all game modes.
  3. The stealth implementation in GW2 is absolutely horrible. Having periodic, frequent cooldowns to throw your character into stealth is actually flat out worse than a permanent stealth that fades once in combat. It's such an unbelievably annoying mechanic to play around, if I could have my way I'd just remove it altogether. So please, no more stealth.
  4. I am not particularly fond of the mechanics. I remember some time ago when Riot started updating old Champions in League of Legends, they introduced a lot of fiddly dual usage skills with strange AoE shapes. These new weapon skills seem similar in concept - let's increase skill complexity because more complexity equals higher skill ceiling. Getting the tether to work in WvW was largely pointless, I ended up just playing around with the Hammer changes. By the way, Hammer skill #2 still hits sweet F-All, so can't we get that fixed first?
  5. I was basically unable to hit anything with it in WvW. Actually I found it hard to land hammer auto as well, but it did land occasionally. I'm not sure where Scepter fits in WvW either, it requires you to use your Legends for gap closing. I did have a laugh at the almighty skill descriptions. You know you might have complicated things when it fills your screen height...
  6. Regarding most players not knowing and thus not caring, they might still fall into the same train of thought as I did. I didn't know the Kryptis used the same rigging as other creature types, but there WAS something familiar about them, which made them seem rather unspectacular and a bit boring. The Kryptis mobs are the least interesting part of the expansion, they are (with the exception of the higher beings) very cookie cutter. They could be replaced by any other creature and I wouldn't care. Now I know why, and it is a bit of a let down.
  7. Yep, I'm optimistic. I really like the expansion so far as well, I think the game is generally going in a good direction.
  8. Yeah but Elementalist feels gross to play. I don't mind just three skills, what will be important is how many unique and interesting builds we can make with them. Lots of professions got support type stuff, with an almost MOBA like abundance of secondary effects. I'm glad to be honest that we're not managing six floating axes or four kinds of elemental ammunition, or finding new and irritating ways to heal OR buff our team mates depending on how many times we spin around on the spot and which way the wind is blowing.
  9. I am also having a hard time finding one I like. Same with maces actually, the only mace skin I like is the rum bottle because it is very hard to see.
  10. Finally, we're back on topic! I was also thinking Nest might be a good option, but I like spiders and worry for the health of the wee things when the beam activates.
  11. ...Is what flipping skin am I going to use for it? It's got to match up with my eye melting orange/red/blue/white colour scheme AND with my alternate weapon (probably Aether). Honestly, did ANet not THINK about this?! Jeez. Looks like it's up to us to figure it out, like usual. What skins are you lot eyeing up for your new weapon? I am thinking maybe the volcanic one from EotN (can get it off WvW reward track) https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Volcanic_Stormcaller_Scepter or maybe one of the ones on sale right now from the set https://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Queensdale_Academy_Wand_Set
  12. Optimism kitten it! We need some optimism. Put that smile back on your face, soldier! Let's give them a chance and only pass judgement 5 minutes after the beta starts.
  13. Wow that energy blade effect is freaking cool, and I like the concepts. Our game designer seems to understand the esoteric nature of Revenant.
  14. Yep exaaactly. They fluffed up the skill, say "ooopsiiiee, I dids a doo doo! So sooowwy" in a coy way, and then let us choose how we'd like to un-kitten their deliberate mistake... But we only get to fix ONE of the several ways they made a mess. Would you like to clean up the crap, the pee, or the vomit? PICK ONE.
  15. Except all of that is ruined by this: Song of Arboreum: This trait has been reworked. Energy Meld grants more energy and also grants its energy and vigor to nearby allies. Energy meld is pants, it's another skill to remember to use, and it's now destroyed a really useful existing trait.
  16. See! Proof that OG clocktower is literally infantile mode. ANet please create normal and trib modes for next year thx.
  17. To be honest I was expecting the entrance to this mode to simply teleport players into the LA cauldron.
  18. Just go Vindi, as you said Herald is utter a ss to play. So boring.
  19. Thanks, I ended up playing support vindicator with SB/GS and dumping heals and barrier on my squad. Blue aliance skills and Ventari were my usual utility setup, it worked pretty well. It wasn't spectacular damage but there was enough of a spike from shortbow and red alliance skills to burst people out of position / swap to GS for one more burst and then block / dash away. I quite enjoyed it. Stability is harder to come by but you can't have everything. I switched to BG3 for a bit after I finally finished ad infinitum (thanks legendary starter box!) buuuuut reading your post here reminds me that GW2 is more fun. Apples and oranges but the story in SotO is what I mull over more than the bollockry that BG3 is with its "everyone has to sound like a toff" accents and typical Larian over embelished writing.
  20. Lily of Elon gets my vote as well, I rarely find it to be overly crowded.
  21. I mostly just hate stealth spam more than any class in particular. The way stealth is handled is such a pain in the kitten, I know it's *meant* to do this, but the way stealth spam splits up an engagement is frustrating. Almost beating someone repeatedly only for them to be able to vanish and come back is one of the worst mechanics one can experience in a PvP game. I think stealth needs to be rebalanced, but God knows how without entirely maiming the classes that use it. Of all the unique concepts in GW2 (and while many did work), I think ANet's implementation of stealth in WvW is the worst.
  22. I played celestial Vindi salvation, invocation, vindi GS/SB last night and it was pretty decent. The best of what I had available anyway. I did see one other Vindi and my God I could not even break his shield. kitten knows what he was running, it was bizarre. I will have to take to recording videos because some builds I see players with just seem to have a never ending pool of defenses - shields, evades, blocks. It's a bit frustrating.
  23. Ah thanks, I will check out Guildjen. I'm unfortunately stuck with celestial for both roaming and zergs. I will have to make another set of armour, am thinking Marauder stats.
  24. Excellent advice everyone, I've come away with some really good ideas of what to try next.
