  1. I wish I could agree with you. But having played through it, I find that they've left a loose end, of so significant dimensions that it's made everything that followed after it, an absolute anguish to play through. :anguished: Through out all of PoF, I hoped for an explanation. I hoped they would elaborate on this, because it makes no sense that they would do this. At least, not in accordance to the established lore. But it never came, and so, It's become very hard for me to replay PoF... It's a great story... It just lacks that one essential element that binds it all together... The worst part is, they had the chance to deliver it... They just didn't ever mention it... It is as though they had completely forgotten who Balthazar was... And I find that very, very sad... Considering not many of the gw1 vets seem to be left you might not be far from the truth about them not knowing who Balthazar was. That is, sadly, very true. Though I must add that much of the new content is very, very good... I just can't play it with my HoT enthusiasm... (I played through hot more than 30 times, incl full exploration! xD)You're quite wrong on them not explaining why Balthazar went rogue(he didn't lost his mind, he had an agenda to destroy the Elder Dragons and save humanity, the other Gods didn't think it would work since they "lost" once before and banished him, etc., etc.,) they did a nice job of it.
  2. Problem with your assumption is that part of ArenaNet's analytics tells them who spends how much on Gems, so it's quite possible that open world players spend a considerably more amount of RW money on gems than players that exclusively raid, the only people that know the truth is ArenaNet. Before you can suggest they can't track data, they certainly can since you have to buy the gems while logged into your account, or even enter gem card codes while logged in, so it's not data that's hard to gather.
  3. If it's part of your disposable income does it really matter what you spend it on? That's the purpose of having some of your income disposable, to spend it on what ever you want. I always find I end up with enough other stuff left over to just sell on the TP and make a decent amount of gold, so even if I don't get what I want I get gold out of it, and statuettes, which sit around doing nothing. Now if I could just do something with the Mini Eggs(amongst the other items I do not use or need) besides trashing since I have all of those available...
  4. THIS is my point. I have similar numbers, but the armor is completely out of reach right now. Part of the issue (if one wants to call it that) is that ANet massively throttled the amount of AP granted by achievements from HoT onwards. For comparison, check out the Ambrite weapon collection, which gave players a whopping 50 AP, to something like the Machined weapon collection, which gave a measly 3 AP, despite requiring probably equal amounts of work. (Not until recently, with the Illuminated Boreal weapon collection, did we see a 50 AP collection again.) I can't speak for why ANet did this; maybe they didn't want players to reach such heights of AP that it would force them to keep creating ever more rewards for AP chests (my personal theory), but the discrepancy in AP granted by past and current achieves is pretty stark. ~snip~Do you know the reason that is? It's to make up for the Historical achievement points that players who missed out on those if they joined after those AP's were removed. This was discussed in a separate thread that had someone complaining they would never reach the highest level of AP's because they missed those Historical AP's. I did a quick calculation in my head and those additional AP's given out in HoT were to make up for the Historical ones. What we saw afterwards was more typical of what ArenaNet wanted to give out.
  5. If you unlock the vendor after doing the Heart then what's the incentive for repeating the Heart? Hearts were made repeatable for a reason.
  6. Except in this case there really aren't any resources wasted by ArenaNet other than what has been added in to SAB over the last couple of years. The reason I can state that is the original designers and building of the SAB was not done on ArenaNet time, it was done in off hours on the devs own personal time. Besides, those achievement points aren't that important, just like the ones supposedly missing from LS1(News flash: the front loaded AP points in subsequent LW seasons made up for the missing LS1 points). If you never liked platform games to begin with, you wouldn't like SAB.
  7. Be grateful they moved the servers to Virginia from New York(when they first chose AWS). Also, since when did they close down the German datay center for EU players? Are you saying they no longer use the Germany data center for the EU players? I'd like to know why they ever left the NCSoft data centers that GW1 was on, at least there were 3 of those for the U.S., one for EU and one for Asia...unless NCSoft itself closed them down.
  8. The 3 Billion people on planet Earth that play all those casual mobile games beg to differ with your opinion.
  9. How do you know that person is NEVER there, just because you don't see them move or interact with anyone when you're there...unless you're also there 24/7 to observe them? Do what Inculpatus said, report and move on, you'll never know if the person responds to the methods ArenaNet uses to check for violations of ToS because they don't inform the reporter of what actions have been taken.
  10. That's why I adjust my sound to make sure the loudest sound at all times is dialogue, don't have a problem if it's drowning out all other sounds...and I don't mean it's so much louder than anything else it's all I hear, I mean I have it set so that dialogue takes precedent over all other sounds...it's tuned for my hearing.
  11. Who cares, and there's specific reasons maps are lighted the way they are. Remember, each map is like a snap shot in time, it represents a static time period, tell your friends that and then let them decide.
  12. What the person above was trying to say is this game is heavily reliant on the CPU and not GPU.
  13. How about....40 MAN story raids!!! You're stretching here, really stretching, they can hardly get players to do 10 man story raids and you want 40...if you want 40 man story raids go find another game that has them, that's not GW2's focus and if it becomes the focus or is introduced you've just sounded the death knell for this game.
  14. You could go invisible mode lol some people are able to notice who is doing it if they pay attention and then you will still get recognized and possibly stalked by someone so it wouldn't really matter. But in the long run if you are the one who is putting them then most people will be nice to you and I think it's a good thing. Think of it in real life if you are doing something for everyone in a party of course they will love you for it and you might start to get annoyed by it. But if you do then trust me you need to change your mentality, life is full of repetitive tasks so better get over it than get annoyed by it which will not help you in any way. It will only effect your happiness and health. No, I don't want people to know when I'm doing something helpful, that's annoying as hell. I do it for my own reasons, not to get praise or thank you's, I can't stand those, I don't work that way. It's also the main reason when I res someone I almost never respond to the "thank you", it's not to be rude, it's because I wanted to do, not because I was looking for thanks.
  15. New player will never catch-up with a still active veteran. They will never be able to get LS1 and past festival achievements. Therefore the ranking is a bad thing. And I saw achievement points as my progress indicator for all the long time beyond lvl 80, and without these daily points there is no progress between LS episodes/festivals. So I made a break when only "not liked achievements" where left, and hey when the next episode appeared. ah, you can do them anytime, no reason to do next within the next week, and so the breaks took longer and longer. This was brought up in an earlier discussion, it's been taken care of already...a new player can get just as many AP points as a player that played LS1...if you want the answers do a search for it on the forums. Taking a break from playing is the whole point behind part of the design decisions made with GW2, they didn't want to force anyone to have to play every single day to keep with others.
  16. I'm not new to the game, I do all those things, and even do my best to frequent them during the various timezones, besides certain maps, like Thunderhead Peaks and Dragonfall the other maps are mostly empty even during meta events. "You will always find enough people to do most events." This is false. ~____~" Let's correct that last statement to be true then: ""You will always find enough people to do most events on days that map has it's daily achievements."
  17. Yes, when they eliminated two thirds of the mobs in Orr it made those maps boring, unlike at release when you actually had to pay attention to where you were going and what you were doing. Now you can literally walk from one end to the other without breaking a sweat. Pissed a lot of people off when they culled the mobs...you're in the dragon's territory, what did players think, that the dragon wouldn't pull out all the stops to keep you from reaching it. I hated it when people whined about all the knock downs, pulls, stuns, etc., etc.,...it was exactly what I was expecting...then they removed 66% of the enemies and made it a cakewalk.
  18. People have actually taken the time to determine the rate of return on the Home Instance Nodes, that point at which you either break even or start to make a profit...it's been a while but I doubt if the math has changed much and you're both wrong. It takes longer than a year but no where near 5 years of gathering every day...and if you're really smart you never have to pay real money for any of them...in which case you don't have to worry about getting your money's worth.
  19. The game is an escape from the real world, and what about those of us that don't care and don't bother washing our hands any more than normal?
  20. I have over 2000 as well, and I'd be happy to just give them away...also, the majority of mine came out of Black Lion Chests as I think most do vs actually being purchased directly from the Gem Store.
  21. Doesn't look any different to me, just has a different color scheme, otherwise it's the same format.
  22. No, it doesn't; you're allowed to have your opinion, just like I have mine and I say it doesn't because this is a different game from GW1, there fore it doesn't need the same thing, doesn't need community like everyone keeps complaining...it's just a large open world solo game with large group events thrown in for variety, just the way it was designed.
  23. I was thinking tomorrow more likely, since that allows the one week for the April fools event, but time will tell, not that I care.
  24. The server software, or more technically the software that let's them update on the fly without shutting the servers down like every other game out there is not the problem, all those problems you talk about have nothing to do with the servers...have you bothered to look at a trace route from the AWS data center to your house? That's been the problem in the past and still is to this day in most(not all) cases of lag, and the fact they don't have it housed on servers in 10 different regions of the world(only 2 I'm aware of besides the one in China) one en Europe(Germany I believe) and one on the East Coast of the U.S.(somewhere in New York). The other thing is that you where right about, or whomever mentioned it, no one wants to wait a year or two while they completely rewrite the base engine to utilize all of today's bells and whistles(and multi-threading/multi-cores) so people can forget that idea from the get go.
