  1. if hot did so well, they would prolly had made more like that. it was the worst maps i have ever played in my 18y of mmo gaming.and that was even AFTER the nerfs. didnt take long before i quit the story, and i suffered through several metas to unlock gliding.it had ONE good thing, the guitar playing frog...GG anet They have made more maps with elements from HoT though, so it couldn't be as bad as you say it was, and both statements are actually opinions, both valid. My opinion is I liked those maps, were they challenging to navigate? I don't think so, but then I'm a person that can find someplace I've never been without a map, so for me it wouldn't be...for others it might be, it's a mix, just like everything else is in this game.
  2. This should be the wake up for Anet. 'Plenty of time to play other games. ' This is also why people spend less cash in the gem store. If people are playing other games, they will be spending time and money in other games. That's the boon and bane to B2P model. All my other games are single player(not counting ESO and F76, which I play as single player but also don't spend any money on), so I don't spend money in those games, GW2 is the only game I spend money on, and it's because I'm to lazy to convert gold to gems, so I just buy them to keep a stockpile on hand in case something piques my eye(I have over 50 tabs open in Chrome, of which 4 are devoted to GW2, two for the forums and two for the Wiki). Every individual has their preferences and you can't cater to them all, you just have to find a happy medium. I also remember that when both HoT and PoF came out a lot of people were complaining within days of not having anything to do because they rushed through the story, but whether that was a majority or not only ArenaNet would know.
  3. They said they are going to show the trailer of visions of past tomorrow. Is that all they are gonna reveal? Just that..... I don’t know. I don’t work for Anet. Welp, faith is gone and hope is dead. Honestly Im not sure how they can expect anyone to be hyped for... like... babies first fractals fused with the caithe mission from S2 Well I don’t know what to tell you. You seem to assume a lot about content that you know nothing about. Move on maybe ? If so, can I get your stuff ? ? I mean it looks like solo story content, thats what it looks like to me. Kind of like a filler between episodes which is what I assume it will be; Something to sate your appetite while you wait for the only content they truly care about Living world. As for my stuff, nope you can't have anything even If I move on ill let it rot on my account so that it will do the same thing my interest is doing. We need an expansion.... living world just doesn't cut it. Correction, you need an expansion, I personally can do without one, I'm perfectly fine with the LW/Saga as is, allows me plenty of time to play other games. Sure, if you assume that having players drop in every few months for a week or two only to go "play other games again" will keep paying the bills. In the end that's something the devs need to figure out. Just saying, only because YOU might be happy with a certain approach to content deployment, while yourself admitting you take breaks from the game, it might not be in the games best interest. Exactly. Except for the fact that's exactly how the game was envisioned from the beginning, for players to be able to come and go as they please, it's one of the major design elements that ArenaNet wanted. They didn't want people to have to devote themselves to only playing GW2 all the time, they encourage players to take a break, and since that was the one of the base designs you'd think they would've taken that into account when looking at the financial side of things. Really? Is that why the original Season 1 was temporary content? Which then was changed into repeatable content with monthly and daily achievements (which were miss able)? Which THEN was changed into pure daily achievements? Seems to me you are a bit off on what the original design idea was. It would still not matter since the question is: what is best for the game, and not what is a design decision which might or might not have worked. Designing a game for people to NOT play it seems rather off.Let me explain that part, was LS1 available for more than one day for each episode? Yes, you had at least two weeks to play each of the original LWS1 episodes, you could log in anytime during those two weeks and play that particular release, you didn't have to play every single day. Are we talking about designing it to have to play it 365 days a year(100% of the time), or design it where you can legitimately play half(50%) that amount of time and still not be left behind or miss anything? In order to meet the latter position you have to have another mechanism for earning money, and that's what the Gem shop is for, the Gem shop in theory allows people to play the game 50% of the time and still make the same income as if people played it 100%...at least that's the theory.

We need an expansion.... living world just doesn't cut it. What does an expansion bring that LW or "Sagas" don't/can't? Well for one attention to the game, most people who aren't invested will not get invested in a glorified content patch with LESS content than other games put out durring the same kind of patch. Their Idea of expansion level content is cooking 500 and build templates, of which build templates may of become a different type of animal had it come out along side an expansion release (Might not of been limited as it was, and they probably wouldn't of monetized it as hard but who knows.) And as it seems we won't get E-specs with the saga once so ever so no new way to play your class, no new things to really chase with a good two hour story and "pieces" of a new map. So over all its not good for business as shown that their revenue was down last quarter. You know why? Because NO ONE outside of our community now cares, not when ESO is pumping out expansions and Final fantasy is following suite and along with WoW releasing classic (Don't ask me why it was a hit) Guild wars kind of rolls out of public perception. They said they are going to show the trailer of visions of past tomorrow. Is that all they are gonna reveal? Just that..... I don’t know. I don’t work for Anet. Welp, faith is gone and hope is dead. We need an expansion.... living world just doesn't cut it. Correction, you need an expansion, I personally can do without one, I'm perfectly fine with the LW/Saga as is, allows me plenty of time to play other games. Correction ANET needs and expansion to bring attention to the game, and bring in more fresh blood quicker. We could also use one for the sake of getting new specs, maybe a new class if they feel really ballsy and more to do that explore parts of a map and just do scavenger hunts. Would be nice to really get some meaty content that isn't just "Oh here is some public events, which you can do solo and here is some Strikes which few people care about." There are other pieces of the game suffering, an expansion is not exactly linked to PvE. They could do a WvW expansion and overhaul the mode from the ground up and charge for it, if they so desired and that way the WvW community would have some hyped incoming along with potential new blood seeing it as cool. (Not the best Idea) But they could simply focus an "Expansion" around other features and let PvE continue with the Living world. Cantha was much more focused around PvP, GvG and alliance battles than it was the narrative which is why in scope of the region it was smaller than Elona or core Tyria. An expansion alongside the saga to bring up the other modes that people want would be cool; Would be neat for guilds as a whole to receive and expansion and get a ton of content dumped on them. You don't have to buy it and if you don't care about guilds then you're not the targeted demographic but it would bring people back, and it would make people care especially those who play the game for that kind of gameplay. Not every expansion needs to be PvE exclusive, with some E-specs linked in for the game as a whole. Would be cool to see the other modes receive a huge overall expansion that adds a ton too it and flushes it out. Those players can pay for it and get some benefits maybe lock access to those who don't wish to play or pay for the expansion? IF you dislike said mode then why would you pay for it? Not everything needs to be inclusive and since the community is so divided let them vote with their wallets.Do you realize that every thing you mentioned as needing to be in an expansion can be done through LW as well, not saying they're going to do that, but it's quite possible to do, just not in the large chunks you're looking for. People forget this games entire time line was story boarded from the beginning, it didn't include details but the entire story from beginning to end(it does have an end) was outlined already. I could tell you details about Cantha that most people don't know, and that your statement about it is entirely wrong as to why it was smaller in scope than Prophecies or Nightfall, but apparently I'm still prevented from talking about it. I also highly doubt they want to add in another class, or more e-specs with all the trouble they're having with balance as it is, that was one of the issues with the original game, to many skills to hard to balance, Isiah Cartwright admitted it was a nightmare to try and balance that game. I've also dabbled in all 3 aspects of this game, but I can tell you that WvW went downhill after the first year, also Guilds have nothing to do with it. I see the people wanting more Guild Halls, why, what's wrong with the 3 existing ones, all that does it take away resources from something else. Now if ArenaNet had an unlimited budget and resources then I'd say go for it, but they don't so they have to do what keep bringing in enough money to keep them operating as NCSoft isn't going to give them money to use on more developers and development. Yes, the community is divided and that is one of the biggest problems with this game, I'd almost say it's the sole problem(but I know it's not), and the other problem is players expecting to much(that applies to every game actually, even Cyberpunk). People get hyped and then disappointed, instead of tempering their expectations, they expect the world and get disappointed when they only get a continent instead, it's unhealthy for players and developers. I don't know when this behavior was developed by players/people but it doesn't only apply to gaming, it applies to other things as well. This is a matter of opinion of course, you have yours and I have mine, they don't match, so we agree to disagree(or I agree to disagree, you can choose as you wish).
  6. You do know they've been a part of NCSoft since before the original GW was released, when the company was first formed it was called TriForge, then they changed the name and during development of GW became part of NCSoft West...and NCSoft has pretty much had a hands off approach the entire time, anything ArenaNet did management wise was of their own choosing or how it was done was of their own choosing(whether instructed to by NCSoft or not). The layoffs last year suggest that even if NCsoft were hands off durring Gw1, something changed. It's been a decade since gw1 started, for the most part the gaming experiment is over. Companies have statistics now, and they want to enforce them.I'll tell you what changed, mobile, that's what changed...NCSoft started making mobile games and saw what a cash cow they were, they didn't like any of the projects ArenaNet was working on and decided to tell MO to cut staff...that's what changed, just like the rest of the corporate world, they can't see beyond the next quarters earnings, no more 5, 10 and 20 year plans, it's all about the return to investors now, almost no one cares about long term growth(except for smart investors).
  7. You're suffering from diminishing returns, you need to switch the mobs you kill and zones on a regular basis otherwise you eventually start to get nothing at all.
  8. Have the same issue. Did everything I can think of. Assume its just bugged for some people. Tried picking up Chef on an existing 80 character that didn't have it learned. Tried on a brand new character I made today and did all the other achievevments on (think it was level 52). Tried on main, who is 500 chef, by switching to another and then back to cooking. Tried crafting on all on them just in case, but nada. Lindsay Murdock posted in a Reddit thread, saying it should give credit just by switching out of chef and then back on any character. EDIT: Just noticed in that same thread an update. A trainer in the starting zone gives different credit compared to city trainers because of the 500 cooking quests. So trying the starter zone trainers to unlock cooking (it worked for me going to the Queensdale hub with the trainers). Yeah. The only way to complete that achievement is by the trainers in the starter zones. The ones in the cities don't count.Interesting because I did that one with a level 12 in the Grove and got it.

  11. It's probably a lot harder than you might think to interlink to distinctly separate systems, what with they way the game is programmed. Which means that not all tonics work the same, though you might think they do.
  12. Did you not notice the OP is talking about Outfits, and no, they're not universal, a male character will wear the male version of an outfits and a female character will wear the female version, you can't choose which version your character wears.
  13. So you base your entire argument on "facts" that you do not possess. Tells a lot about your argument. What did they acknowledge? Post a link. I'm not asking you about them. I'm asking you about you. Do you recognize that reality or not? Do you acknowledge that anet has recognized that LS1 was a design error, specifically as to its temporary nature . . ? I'm still waiting for you to post a link with a developer quote that confirms what you are saying, I have a feeling your entire argument revolves around something that you probably never even read. Or didn't understand.Well, to be fair I did ask first. But as I've mentioned a few times, you've expressed some reluctance to accept facts that are contrary to your preferences, so I will not provide you with something that you can find for yourself as easily as I can provide it to you. We went through this before with the number of ap available. You kept insisting there was no number and asking me to provide it. If I had done so, I believe you would have disputed it. By waiting for you to provide the number and accepting your response, I avoided another needless page of squabbling over what the value was. What is important here is not what is real or what I can prove, but what you will accept, as you have demonstrated that the latter has nothing to do with the former. So I will ask again: Do you acknowledge that anet has recognized that LS1 was a design error, specifically as to its temporary nature . . ? The real question is, whether You acknowledge, that these Anet statements were always about story and story alone, and Anet has never recognized transient nature of many achievements and APs from that time as an error. Because it's quite clear that the "reality" you speak of is your personal misinterpretation of Anet statements, that do not really say what you think they do. So is it fair to say that you acknowledge that anet sees the loss of LS1 as the result of a mistake/design error/regrettable design choice or w/e roughly equivalent phrase makes you most comfortable . . ? I feel like I'm going to need a scorecard for this . . . So you base your entire argument on "facts" that you do not possess. Tells a lot about your argument. What did they acknowledge? Post a link. I'm not asking you about them. I'm asking you about you. Do you recognize that reality or not? Do you acknowledge that anet has recognized that LS1 was a design error, specifically as to its temporary nature . . ? I'm about to end this discussion once and for all. LS1 AP's are missing, currently the highest AP track reward that is available is the one at 40K(the one at 45K is not available right now). People have been complaining about the reduced amount of AP being given out in the last 2 or 3 LW's, there's a reason for that, had LS1 + other no longer available AP rewards still existed we would have enough to reach the 42K+ that you can already obtain in game, which allows everyone to reach the 40K reward. ArenaNet has already added the missing AP in previous LW season and the Expax's to make up for the "lost" AP, it's why the highest AP earners are already past the 40K reward mark. If anyone questions the above, it's simple math and this whole entire discussion could've been avoided many pages and days ago.I'm not sure I understand what you are saying. It's also possible that you do not understand the problem you are trying to solve. You acknowledge the ap is missing, but say it has been 'made up' already, from what I understand. For that to be true, AP would have had to be introduced into the game that covered the lost ap but was not available to players who obtained the lost ap when it was available. Is this what you are saying . . ?That's exactly what I'm saying, there was a higher amount of AP given out in previous seasons/expansions than we are currently getting, had season one been permanent content they would not have had to artificially increase the AP amount given out in LWS2, 3 and the HoT, PoF expansions. The means to get the necessary AP has already been added in, think about it, the highest AP earners are already passed 40K, they most likely have LWS1 AP points, that means those that don't can reach 40K with what is actually available in game right at this moment, and that is currently the highest available AP reward.
  14. I stopped here. Please tell me you meant none. @"Inculpatus cedo.9234" said:Indeed. Reflections can be an FPS-hog. I believe what the OP is saying is of you set the "***" ones at his recommendations then you can get away with the other settings as described, also would help to know what GPU and CPU he has. I personally have everything maxed out, and I don't mind when it dips down into the 10's as I honestly don't notice.
  15. So you base your entire argument on "facts" that you do not possess. Tells a lot about your argument. What did they acknowledge? Post a link. I'm not asking you about them. 16. No, it's not and won't add a bunch of players and fix the trinity problem(there is no trinity in this game). That's is like saying you're going to increase participation from 1% of the player base to 2%, the increase is so insignificant that it's not worth mentioning.
  17. First, I think he was referring to getting cc'ed by mobs. Second, the Shatterer cc bar is meant to get broken with the weapons provided during the event. The pylons do not require a lot of cc, but proper split of the entire group, which simply does not happen with random PUG groups because everyone is stacked at the boss an runs to the closest pylon first. Third, let's not pretend that the Shatterer cc bar was not an issue before this patch.I did mention Shatterer specifically because i finished reading that thread just before i made that post, but I could have also brought up VB Matriarch, or Serpent's ire, for example, or just answered with "since Anet started introducing break bar mechanics to open world bosses" But if he was referring to getting cc'ed by mobs, then my answer is "since core, and original Orr mobs". There's quite a number of mobs with cc in the game, that, even if not really threatening to a capable player, can still be downright annoying. And that's even without considering that standarts of players in open world are not quite the same as for instanced content, for example.Annoying, maybe, but then again if they're dead before they even have a chance to use their CC on you or you're on a mount it doesn't matter...now if Orr was still as dense today as it was at release, then we might have a problem(remember they cut the number of enemies in Orr by three fold after people said it was too difficult, which I disagreed with and I'm an average/casual player at best, just like I enjoyed the density and difficulty of mobs in HoT at release).
  18. What if I disagree on your assessment of Ranger in OW? What exactly makes it worthless in OW?
  19. He doesn't know what he's talking about for at lease these two statements, first he's looks at the numbers for Headbutt in PvE, well, he'd need to check them in WvW and sPvP before talking about the damage in those modes. Second, when someone doesn't even know that 50% increase of 6 damage = 9 and not the 12 he was mentioning(that would be 100% increase).
  20. To clarify, not talking about in-game mail, but about e-mail notifications and newsletters. Interesting, because all mine are usually addressed to the character that shows up in the first box on the character select screen.
  21. Impossible because each zone is set in a specific period of time, no two zones mirror the same time frame so you would be connecting maps that are not in the same world space time wise.
  22. This is the most concerning. Slower CC means having to predict ahead of time to score interrupts, instead of twitch reflexes. Slower CC means less time to bust defiance bars. And I'll bet enemy CC hasn't slowed down one iota. Nor their cooldowns increased. @Rauderi.8706 said: This is the most concerning. 23. Re-read your last sentence to yourself and you'll have your answer.
  24. The scrying pool is already there with Aurene, and it already looks usable as is, I don't think there's going to be any change to the HoM for Visions.
