  1. The inability to give up. I try, try, try until I succeed, or get some other poor saps to help me get it done.
  2. The only ones I hate are the snipers. They seem to have an unnatural ability to get you no matter how you move, their trails last a long time, and then if you face many .... ugggg. Use to hate the smoke dogs until someone pointed out how to easily best them. Wish I would have known sooner. Maybe it is a bit harder, but you learn which enemies to run past -- looking at you mushrooms -- cause they aren't worth fighting, and which are worth taking on
  3. About a week ago I was in a match where I swear I was the only human. Was playing on skyhammer map. Was losing until I realized I could keep everyone corralled in the center fighting while I grabbed points. If someone strayed toward a point, I would aggro them, bring them back center, go invis, and keep points taken or grab the skyhammer, just in case. That was sad, but would be sadder if they had been human.
  4. I am one of those 10000-plus hour people. I can attest that I have experienced a form of progression over the years in terms of skill. I went from never winning in pvp and avoiding it like the plague, to actually downing two players just last night by outwitting them. I went from barely being able to finish one small area of super adventure box when it first came out, to not only being able to fly through regukar levels, including glitches, to actually being able to do tribulation mode -- all except the last map, but I will work on it. The thing about this game is that there seems to always be a new challenge there to take on if you want it. Sure, I don't like some of them, like those HOT mini games, but I feel good when I beat them to achievement. I guess, GW2s fun is all in ones head. I have always seen it like a sandbox with lots to choose from and lots of potential playmates The game doesn't hold your hand, which sometimes is frustrating with harder content, but in that there is no easy mode. You can't just grind levels to make it easier, you have to really just "get good," which for me is often easier said than done. Grind is saved for the bling. Yes, I have Eternity, and was done when there was only original maps so few ways to easy gold. I played wow for a while, but hated the combat, the pacing made it feel slow; hated loot sharing cause after a while I couldn't justify why I needed it over someone else and felt shamed into not going after it; exploration was frustrating, especially when the humans came onto the zone and kept tracking you down and killing you when all you wanted to do was mine something or finish a quest; found the quest system repetitive and over whelming. Honestly, 100 hours is nothing to me in this game. Spent 16 hours this weekend messing around SAB and still didn't get to everything I wanted to do. Once did 24 hours straight in WvW, not a wise decision, but also not rare for people who enjoy the mode. I am always surprised when people say they have run out of stuff to do, there always seem to be more out there. Sure I get burned out of the game and modes, currently taking a break from wvw and playing other games, but I am always drawn back to gw2
  5. Bookah. Asura are the best AT EVERYTHING. All norn are good for is dancing all-natural and mead-drinking.
  6. No vista or POI on core maps is unreachable on foot. Many of us did world completion multiple times long before gliding or mounts were added to the game. They existed before mounts and gliders after all.. Agreed. Did full map completion with 12 toons before gliding or mounts. If people are having troubles, go to Dulfy. It may not be up on the new stuff, but its guides on at least the first six years of content is complete.
  7. I would go further in pvp and allow a forfeit that the entire team has to ok to implement. When you are down one player and can't even get out of spawn or are so outmatched there is no winning, it is a waste of time to have to keep going on, and running into the slaughter. Especially when you see one or more of your team sitting at spawn.
  8. No hate for the Southsun JP. Really did like that, skipping stones, and Chalice
  9. Oof. I'm sorry to say this, but you're in for quite the ride in the long run. Just give it time. This is the only game I know where I can type kitten kitten kitten kitten kitten kitten kitten, and be accused of being in rage mode.
  10. My friend got a precursor from farming centaur in wvw -- use to be a thing on slow nights in ET to make money to buy seige. I understood anything can drop a precursor, unless that changed
  11. Combat stats is an option on chat already. It gets annoying to gave on
  12. I expect toxic on pvp and somewhat in wvw because emotions can run high in the heat of battle, but I also have noticed it more in other modes. Like In pve, this guy starts in on chat how no one is helping with a champ. I decide to go, even though I am in the middle of a personal objective. The timer is kind of low, so there isn't much time left and even though a couple more show up, the event fails. Then the guy goes on a tirade how we suck and how low our dps was. We went to help and he spits in out faces. Will make me think twice again before offering help. Then there is strikes. Let's just say it has become a thing I reluctantly participate in. I have learned never to join groups looking for specific stuff -- even if I can fill the spec. I only join single instance groups. If we fail more than once I leave, because that is when the verbal abuse and arbitrary kicking starts. If I fail to follow the above rules, I always regret it, and my desire to even log onto this game plummets. This is even when I am specifically invited to other runs. I can only see it get worse. This attitude is even bleeding into the Forge mission, which is a story mission. One guy tried to kick me from instance before it even started, and it was public mission and I was just gathering worms, so it wasn't based on my gaming prowess. It isn't someone that kicked me before cause I learned to block those people so I don't accidentally group with them again and he wasn't listed. (Is now) People wonder why so many players end up going solo. It is just easier than taking the chance that you won't measure up to some randoms expectations. I earned most of my 34000 achievement points on my own merits, so I must know something.
  13. The other day I joined a strike run. After the second boss I got kicked without even a comment. I whispered the kicker, calling him out for doing it without just asking me to leave or telling me why I was kicked. By the way I would leave a group if asked. He talked about my damage being so low, and likened it to a support character. Was surprised he noted me doing any damage at all. Thing is we were successful in the run because I spent most of it rezing people. Few others were bothering to do it. Whatever healing we had wasn't sufficient and one point me and another guy were the only ones left standing to pick up the others. I would have loved spending my time doing damage and not rezing others. But going by what must have been arcsdps, I had to go. He then told me to talk to him when I could put out such and such damage. I joined the group because the ad didn't have specs listed, so I assumed it was for people who didn't want that stress. Second, I have 14 toons, some built for meta so if I wanted to join a super elitist group I would have. I don't need people judging me and my actions based on raw numbers and I feel like we should be able to block such intrusion, not give everyone more acid to pour in the wounds of players who a just want to have fun, not take on a second job. If I want a challenge I would climb a 14,000er. When I am at home I want to relax and play
  14. Now you all see, our great, benevolent cat overlords have always been there protecting us. Giving a safe-ish place to rest, granting us might to face our enemies. Hopefully, we will continue to remain worthy of their protection and will never have to face the cat worshipping cult. (You know how Tyrians love joining cults.) Or be batted off ledges or out of the skies by our giant overlords.
  15. It means ANet sold the rights to the game to Hello Kitty and there will be some changes to the game from our new feline overlords. I live with 5 cat. They have always been my overlords.
  16. Why do you care? It is close enough to a mini, easy introductory raid (which is the intention of strikes) to belong more in that category as in any other. Especially if people are doing the challenge motes. I for one was happy to see people posting formal groups for this content. It took some of the toxic people out of the public instances.
  17. I agree with this. I like to play all aspects of the game and it is annoying to have to spend time grinding for the "right" only yo have metas change and then you need something else. I just want to play, not study. I have precious little time as it is and already spend too much farming. I would also add an expanded example build list, like they have in pvp, so you could get an idea of builds that fit needed group members -- like dps or healer.
  18. Use seige of you want to use it. Don't if you don't. Fair play agreements in wvw are a joke, and are only honored as long as it benefits the winning team. Can't count how many times my server gets double teamed, and still it has never cut similar deals. I guess out of done sense of honor. If using a Balista makes the enemy run, let them run. A proper zerg laughs at seige damage. The idea that using seige will make the other side mad is absurd. Who cares of they are mad. If they are going to take your keep, and you don't have the people willing to push to get it back or keep it, they will take you keep -- seige or not. And the trolls on their server will spawn camp you if you let them. You want fights, defend your stuff or go after theirs, you will get fights. The commanders who just want wxp will move to an easier target and come back when you aren't there. The only problem I see in wvw is people not wanting to die. They play afraid. So what if the enemy gets exp off you. It's not like it makes them stronger. They just get a tiny tick toward their next level. And DYING COSTS YOU NOTHING BUT TIME. Commanders, in general, have their own agendas. Some want to karma train, some want to zerg fight, some tag up briefly to defend, some will run from every fight and sacrifice pugs to save themselves. Don't count on them to do what you want them to do. Play the game how you want to play it, within the few rules the game actually has -- such as not using exploits or cheating -- not some made up rules the winning team has created in order to further their own glory.
  19. Recently had a mesmer in pvp from an opposing team whisper "what the **** was that" when I tried to 1v1 him. I thought he noticed I hit a lag spike and felt like I was jumping all over the place and my skills weren't working, so I replied lag. But then he went off about me being a crap player and not knowing my class. I readily admitted that was probably part of the problem and I suck at the class. I was playing engineer and have been struggling finding a good build for it and being consistently effective. But he continued to insult me, telling me how bad I am, and how at least I know my place, and how he could beat me anytime. Even though I readily admitted it was probably true (thinking I can't seem to kill a mesmer on my own to save my life no matter what class I play), he just kept at it Only got him to shut up when I said "I am a 51 year old woman. Now you can go brag to all your friends that you beat an old lady today" My take away is that some people like to stir the pot and keep at it to get a rise out of you. It isn't that they are trying to be helpful, question your skills, issue a challenge, they just feel like being mean and targeted you that day. And yes, I will continue to inflict my engineer on people until I get my 200 wins -- less than 50 to go. Only I will probably turn whisper off in chat.
  20. If the played Eldrr Scrolls, they would have an absolute fit. The cost of fast travel in that game is high, and goes up a lot if you want to fast travel in quick succession.
  21. How many homes have you, in real life, that did not require payment for access? I pay every month for mine. I have one and it's paid off, so I no longer pay for access.Except for a taxes :)
