  1. You can usually find HP trains in LFG. Typically under Verdant Brink or Crystal Oasis. Someone will tag up and you follow them to hit up all the hero points in those maps. Glider is required, some comms require raptor as well. If you don't have mastery to get to a location, there are plenty of mesmer portals. The majority of the content in this game is map metas. Popular ones that run on timers are Auric Basin, Tangled Depths (Chak Gerent), Crystal Oasis (Pinata), Dragon's Stand, Seitung Province (Aetherblades), Echovald (gang war). Type /wiki et in the ingame chatbox and a bunch of timers pull up. For core content there's world bosses on a constant timer. Lots of people do them at all times of the day. Triple Trouble is the only one that needs real coordination but there are often guilds running. For non-timed metas, usually Dragonfall, Silverwastes, Gyala Delve are go-to farms. You likely could not get to Dragonfall because you do not have the Living World episode that accompanies it. Each living world episode(s) is accompanied by a separate map that has its own metas, story, etc. Assuming you have like idk, rare gear you can do almost all of t1 fractals honestly, most people do not care how much damage you do and if they do, just find another group. Though if a vet stops by to help and they're typing instructions or tips in chat just try your best to follow. The game semi locks you out around 23-25 if you don't have any ascended at all though (u will die to agony). You can do other ones that have AR requirements by buying Anguished Tear of Alba. I think i might have also misunderstood where you are in the game. If you haven't played through expac story, I recommend playing through expac story. There are going to be gaps where you're missing LWS episodes, you can either swipe for those or farm up enough gold > gems. The story does a good job at guiding you through the different maps, and if you are struggling ask a friend/guild/map chat to help you clear an instance (or just abuse infinite revives)
  2. Also you were soloing expac HPs? Find an HP train. they'll run you through with 30-40 other ppl looking to elite spec.
  3. Well, you're going to need at least SOME gold. For fractals tier 1 dailies get run all the time and are decent gold starting out. Just make your own group and someone will probably join who can open the fractals. You can also make a group like "trying to learn fractals" and someone will probably jump in to help. Best to do in offpeak hours, if you do around daily reset everyone is rushing to get their clears in. If you do it at like 3pm on saturday some bored exp person flipping through lfg can show up to help you, or maybe someone else looking to learn fractals joins and you can bumble through them together. Also look for IBS strike missions especially easy 3. Usually people don't care much about what you're doing in those runs. Especially shiverpeak pass, you don't need masteries to get rewards for this either For raids probably a minimum training group is looking for full exotic, elite specc'd and dps or boon dps build. Ballpark on TP around 60-80g minimum for a build (but this is extremely build dependent). Some training groups will let a healer first time heal but healing has tons of responsibility and needs encounter knowledge so it's recommended to learn the encounter as dps (where u have less role responsibility) before swapping to a healer role. imho if you want to rush endgame content, do t1 fractal dailies (progress as you get more comfy to t4s), ez3 strikes, and farm a boatload of winterberries/mystic motes to cover your trinkets. If you need quick infusion of gold do some gold farming, dragonfall is a good choice, silverwastes if you have to... daily achieves and tequatl is quick and ez 4g a day Also don't join exp runs for raids/eod strikes if you aren't exp. Expectation mismatch will burn both you and the group. Find training groups like RTI (EU) or Raid Academy (NA).
  4. +1 to this, finished the kill, only the instance opener got any achieves (they got 3) rest of us got the chest but nothing.
  5. to oneshot the breacher in AB before people get in other memes i guess but me & my bf slapping 5 ammo shots on the breacher is enough to kill it before anyone upscales & before any of the frogs spawn. other than that just to look at how cute it is?
  6. ascended trinkets don't take *that* long to farm up. forget about ritualist/dragon's for now that's a separate problem that needs to be dealt with. amulet and earrings are kind of locked but you can reselect stats when you attune or infuse rings and backpacks. though each backpack infusion is a gift of ascension and also 250 ecto, so it probably costs less just to make ad infinitum honestl Rings are your 2nd largest stat slot (after amulet, which you can get a basically free legendary by doing return achieves) so each one having basically two stat reselects isn't the worst deal in the world. If you want to be weird like me though, I kept basically 300-400 of each lws3/4 currency on hand so I can buy whatever I want whenever I want. Except Dragon/Ritualist but I dont' want to derail this too much
  7. meh, most pugs will shy away from solo healing, most of my groups I run two healers but yea i agree mostly. if you are still doing a druid you can sg3 the druid and they will be able to pump out 25stacks, any potential downtime can be covered by mechanist, catalyst (even if its only like 1 fire sphere per rotation), renegade with the occasional f2 (though the energy management is already pretty tight). if you want to count mirror blade rng that technically exists too lol. if you ask nicely enough your power dragonhunter/power willbender might be willing to take a scepter if you need to group the druid for spotter distribution it might be a bit more rough, you would probably want to consider a 7-3/7-2-1 or a 8-2 with higher bd on stm chrono and shaft your alacrity or something. I don't test comps like this a lot, I run low-med end groups so we've just been running mirror comps a lot. that is all to say, condi has a lot more random might in the kit, 3 scgs in a subgroup can probably sustain themselves if they all use double BiP. hopefully June patch balances this out because from proposed changes, it looks like power is getting heavily shafted
  8. for the people recommending healers, I would recommend the opposite. Just play something like sword pbm holo or shortbow condi soulbeast or... something similar like that. as a healer, you have to focus on booning in addition to healing, and it's often a wipe if you die. people are also often leaning on you to know mechanics, cc timings, and stab/aegis timings. if you want to get into supporting I would start out on an alac/quick dps (often you are only responsible for like 2-3 boons max, sometimes only 1) on heal mechanist you technically only have to stack the 25might/alacrity but your squad absolutely will feel the difference between a skilled mechanist giving about 7 boons (might/fury/alac/swift/prot/vigor/regen) and a less skilled mechanist giving 2 (might/alac). hb is a similar idea (25might/fury/prot/reso/quick/swift/regen + ondemand stab/aegis) but imho it's actually easier to pick up. bonus points as you don't have to manage the crappy pet ai. people might not be able to immediately point out the lack of healing (did I just mistime a dodge or am I actually just not getting enough healing?) the same way you can spot bad dps (this guy is doing 3k, literally everyone else is doing 10k) so often people feel like they can "hide" bad performance more in a healer role (and it can be harder to tell if you are doing enough for your group, I struggled a lot with this when I was starting out)
  9. exposed stacking up is very very punishing, especially if you don't have a bloodmagic scourge. they could stand to take it out of a few attacks like Mai cone or the spread bombs and just leave it on the shockwave if you have a healscourge, then it barely matters since only they have to be good enough to yoink everyone out. orbital lasers could stand to be a tad more telegraphed (why not keep yellow like VG/Harvest/Cairn/literally every other raid boss?) but it's not a huge deal dps check is a tad high for the level I think it was intended to be at. You basically need about 100k squad DPS, mid to low end groups might struggle especially if you need to switch out one of the DPS for a heal scourge (high dps squads wont have this issue at all, but high dps groups don't need a heal scourge either) especially since anet has repeatedly been nerfing squad-wide buffs (10man might *cough*, and later loss of sun/frost/banners/etc) it just makes it harder for lower end groups to meet 100k as a dps check (this is also extra punishing if anyone dies early, which is very easy with everything stacking up in the background. this fight is already extremely punishing as far as early deaths go) bomb mechanic is kind of open for griefing, ex. if you just hate your group and are really bored, you can put the bomb in the wrong spot and guarantee a wipe. even slothasor poisons can be dealt with (ish, eat more mushrooms?) and well, you can technically res after a bad Dhuum bomb. It's not hard or a bad mechanic imho, just doesn't happen until very late in the fight and is ripe for griefing. scarlet projectiles alternate between the most annoying things ever or basically nonexistent if you stack enough projectile destruction. rewards are garbage, especially first clear. you go through all of this and... that's it? clearing literally any raid boss for the first time gives more (yes, repeatably I'm aware the rewards are on par with raids, I'm saying the first-time rewards are... nonexistent). also please for the love of god make the mech immune to the spread mechanic
  10. this thread seems like it's devolved so here's my perspective as a comm lfg sucks. it really does. I feel awful when I'm asking for "quick alac" and have to kick because someone joined as dps. but you have to keep in mind what the goal is. I personally don't want an intense 40minute fight against Minister Li. I know it can be done, I've seen the logs, and there's no enrage timer on that fight. But if with proper comping and a bit of pre-work, we can cut that down and get the clear in 1/4 the time, why wouldn't I do that? The difference between a 12min kill and 15min kill doesn't really matter to me, but the difference between a 40min kill and a 10min kill is huge. That's why we ask for kp, titles, roles, etc. I might not be in the mood to train new people that day, I might be tired, I might just want my daily kill so I can go do other content in the game. You can always post your own LFG, if I'm bored enough I might join and teach a strike or raid or 2. But you're significantly more likely to get results if you either join a guild that does introductory-level runs or post for more beginner-ish content (EoD first 3/IBS first 3/Wing 1/Wing 4)
  11. I'm more of a raider so I guess I'm biased towards that perspective There are still basically only two fights in the game where if you don't play power, you might as well be trolling, being KC and ConjAm with ConjAm being the worse offender (as high-end groups aren't even using KC's intended burst phase to burst), but ConjAm is a lot more dependent on Swords management). The rest of the traditional power fights are more burst oriented and don't particularly favor Condi or Power either way (afaik, Unnatural Signet applies to both power & condi ticks so if you can prestack conditions before the first application, you're doing enough without even having to delay rotation). There's arguments to stack power DPS on fights like Samarog (phases every 10% which kinda sucks for the whole condis timing out thing), Qadim (or you know, just kill resolution) It doesn't help that removing banners (prec/power) and frost spirit (5% strike dmg) in the upcoming Jun28 patch means that there's even less reason to play power, as it becomes significantly harder to crit-cap (having to make up a 100 prec deficit - this is assuming Spotter goes untouched) on classes that were already extremely spotter dependent. Vs in Condi comps, precision helps a bit in procing effects like cVirt bleed/Fb Justice, etc etc but was nowhere the dmg increase it would be in a power comp. Losing the 150 condi damage is going to suck, but power will lose the banner too. Don't even mention Sun Spirit, that thing is barely worth taking as is, and is only run because well... what else are you going to run, storm spirit? 2 stacks of burning every 8s is hardly a loss (though everything would count as far as squeezing damage into exposed in terms of fractal context) Power will still be meta for most fractal speedruns however, in my opinion (outside of Ai). But this last take could be proven wrong
  12. hello, recruiting for a static, we are run in a guild discord but you do not need to join the guild, just the discord. we run only once per week for the static on Mondays at 8:30 eastern for about 2.5 hours (reset + 0.5). We also run training raids/easier encounters as a guild on Wednesdays that you can come to if you want, but it's not strictly required. we've killed most bosses except dhuum and qadim at this point. current focus is progging down our first Dhuum kill. we currently need someone who is willing to learn or semi-comfortable on DPS kiting roles (Qadim slugs, QtP Pylon). Extra points if you can messenger kite (on DPS or Druid, we can work around almost anything) on Dhuum which frees me up to be on stack more. I've got one spot for main group, willing to take exp subs as well. Contact me on Discord, I suck at checking forums - Lissiandra#3820 or mail me in-game: - lissiandra.1357
  13. generally i just look out for the achievement and see what i need to do if I see one active. not sure how many times you need to repeat, depends how good you are at jumping shockwaves (for Shock-Wave Jumper and Tsunami Dodger). I have neither achieve. The story one talked about is to do the meta event before doing the last story instance.
  14. you have to make sure the achieve is active on your bar, may require restarting the story chapter. I got it on my first failure (the achieve was active).
  15. Done this meta two more times after beating it for the first time yesterday since my bf missed the run and I wanted to get him the turtle unlocked. First run: DPS too low. RNG probably around average. We lose at 9% to timer after a few more dashes seal the deal. Second run: DPS pretty okay. Nothing too special, but at least 4/5ths of the squad is pulling above 10k average. Tail into two position swaps meaning everyone is running their kitten across the arena losing dps. Kill champs, have about 2mins left on timer. Nowhere near enough to get her from 20 to 0 especially when she decides to Tail, CC (during tail, and no one can agree on whether CCing or doing the Tail is better at that point, so the map coordination goes into the trash can), then position swap again so we have to run our kitten across again. The real burn was only having about 6mins left in the 20% phase to do the spear throws and then champs.
  16. Man I've forgotten anet forums exist. We're active for End of Dragons. Regulars are progging EoD Strikes; right now I'm asking for raid-ready builds and rotations (exp not needed, I'll help you get started), will relax that requirement once I figure out what's going on in each one.
  17. Yeah, that's what LFG is going to look like; that's what LFG has always looked like, especially in NA. If you want to learn strikes/raids/CM fractals you generally have to have a friend or look for a guild willing to teach ya. I haven't done Strike 3 yet myself, so I can't speak to how easy or difficult it is yet. Managed to 2-man the first boss phase with my bf, but we couldn't get past add phase with just 2 of us.
  18. what do y'all think the chances of this boss being so poorly spaghetti coded together that they literally can't change the attack pattern be, lol. because i see no other reason why this type of variance made it into the final product other than "this code works and the expac was due today so we pushed it out"
  19. yeah lol resetting dhuum from ritual feels bad enough, imagine if you had to run through all of wing 5 every time you wiped, cus that is exactly what retrying this meta feels like
  20. update: finally finished the meta loot: worse than serpent's ire lmao, only the memories of aurene are worth and those will eventually go down as long as everyone does the meta (since they start dropping from dragonstorm, dragonfall, etc.) accomplishment level feeling: i dont feel like i won the meta, i feel like i won the lottery in terms of boss rng. we only got tail like 3 times the entire fight
  21. yea, there's the difference. You very rarely fail raids because of bad RNG. Like yes, you can get unlucky on QtP and get every single lightning mechanic or shark mechanic; or you can get unlucky on Slothasor and he never unfixates you as a thief rune running DPS, but getting unlucky isn't the difference between killing and not killing. Also Slothasor doesn't have an unpredictable immunity phase where it's impossible to DPS him. You always know when that breakbar is coming. That clearly hasn't been the case for this meta. Some people claim you can just outDPS the luck, but that's the equivalent of expecting everyone to outDPS pillars on Adina or something. I have a hard enough time fighting roster boss for my weekly raids, I ain't fighting roster boss for a squad of 50 for this meta (there's also the separate problem of, I shouldn't be asking for kp or fractal titles for a open world meta boss but I'm past that point mentally where I just want to kill her even if I have to be elitist about it so I can get the turtle/prima donna comp item and never come back) Raids also checkpoint so you can actually get better, not have to wait two hours to roll the dice again with Escort taking an hour long
  22. Trust me, I basically live in raids and I'd hate any boss that has this much RNG to the point where I would give up on weekly clears. I enjoy raids because mechanics always happen on some sort of pattern, for example on Sabetha the cannons spawn on a timer and are dealt with on a timer; she always does three flak shots before doing a Flamewall, the Flamewall always targets one individual so you stack to properly position it; the sapper bombs (usually) end up on the target furthest west at a very specific time on the timer. Everything can be predicted and mechanically worked around. Some bosses like Xera and Soulless Horror are disliked in part for their RNG (Xera for the teleports after 50%, the towers you need to leyline glide to, and SH for oneshot wall RNG). Difficult bosses like Qadim and Dhuum have fairly little RNG; on Qadim mobs spawn on the exact same patterns and miniboss movement is very controllable. On Dhuum, after the door-side reaper spawns, all spiders will gravitate towards it; the biggest RNG in Dhuum (for normal mode anyways) is who he picks to target for the dip, his attack pattern is fairly consistent and predictable. You very rarely fail raids because you got unlucky (ok, maybe you fail SH because on CM a wall spawned badly), you failed because you messed something up. None of that is the case for this meta event. You get kitten where the boss has a breakbar, then swoops three times then spawns a tail so you can't even capitalize on the exposed debuff... You aren't failing SooWon because you messed something (CC, movements, splitphase, green mechs) up, you're failing because the boss does not have a predictable pattern that you can burn dps around. edit: before the change on Soo Won, I've had runs where we did the green cheese perfectly, were close to time on everything until 20%, but we lost the run at 15% left because the boss decided to burn 40s on the timer (which only had 2mins left after minibosses) via swooping and tail mechanic.
  23. Just did this meta what's the point of increased exposed debuff if she's just going to swoop 3 times in a row after you break her bar anyways
  24. So the real problem with this fight still isn't the wisps, it's the complete boss RNG. Sometimes, we get *one* breakbar the entire time before she just decides to dash under the platform three times in a row, basically wasting any chance the map had of clearing. I'm hoping the last point addresses this issue, but the fact that the boss has RNG on attacks making for extremely inconsistent clear is the biggest issue. I had a map where we were close to killing, but because of bad dash rng into tail timing, we got to DPS a whole 10 seconds of the last 20% before the fight timed out. Few other bosses have this same type of RNG, Mordremoth has a consistent attack pattern (he will always attack an island, if not one burned, he always has a burn window after a fake burn, champs, etc I don't have this memorised lol), so does Tequatl/Triple Trouble/etc where they *always* have breakbars at x%, consistent burn windows, etc. Soowon can dash under the platform back-to-back and is basically unhittable the entire time. Again, really hoping the last point addresses the issue, if it does the entire fight would be a lot more doable.
