  1. What is the gaming etiquette in GW2 regarding spawnkilling / spawn camping? I'm a bit of an older gamer from the days of Unreal (1998) and Unreal Tournament (1999), and there we got an etiquette of honor where we give enemy players the opportunity to leave their spawn point and grab a decent weapon before we engaged them in combat. In Guild Wars 2 PvP I often see that when one team is dominating the match, for example when it is a 4v5 match, they often flock to the spawn point of the enemy and kill anyone who comes out. Rinse and repeat. What is the consensus of acceptable behavior regarding spawn killing in this game? Is there any code of honor comparable with the old Unreal one? Or is it just about taking any opportunity regardless of the consequences?
  2. The GW2 character models and character creation are great. When I clicked the Human, Elementalist, Male I immediately fell in love back in 2012 and accepted it with only a few customizations. He has been my main ever since. A quality character builer is essential for a good MMORPG experience. I tried Black Desert Online one day and just as with GW2 I fell in love with the beatiful characters I can make there. But I also tried ESO and wanted a cute male char and just could not make one. They all looked rough and that's not the style I like. So that immediately set me off and I did not continue playing that game.
  3. GW2 most of all needs a beefy CPU with a lot of cache and a high clock speed. You don't need a lot of cores. 4 cores on 5GHz with a lot of cache will perform better than 16 cores with 3GHz. Still, you will need to tone down "Character Model Limit" and "Character Model Quality" a bit. These are major performance killers in any circumstances where a lot of player characters are on screen. For example in large meta events, world boss fights and WvW.
  4. C:\Program Files\Guild Wars 2\d3d11.dll Please remove this file. D3d11.dll should not be loaded from the Guild Wars 2 installation directory but from Windows. Some mods or hacks may have installed it but this is often the cause of crashes and is not supported by ArenaNet.
  5. This beautiful cover of the GW2 main story ending music only had 1,172 views on YouTube. It is NOT mine but by TeraCMusic. Visit her at teracmusic.com.
  6. My main thought is: If only if ArenaNet would have put all their effort, money, devs and resources they have invested into "Unannounced projects" into their main game, namely Guild Wars 2 instead year after year, what an amazing game we could have had today. What could they have achieved with game engine improvements? how could sPvP have looked? What would expansions have looked like? How quick WvW alliances could have been finished? How would the Icebrood Saga have been? How would the story of Primordus and Jormag have been ended? I sill love every bit of GW2, it is my favorite game, but I believe that it has been a mistake from ArenaNet to divert much resources away from their main and successful MMO.
  7. Maybe GW3 never gets released. ==> (Your progress in) GW2 stays relevant. Maybe GW3 gets released at some point in the future, but it is a different genre ==> (Your progress in) GW2 stays relevant. Maybe GW3 gets released at some point in the future and is a remake of GW2 on a new engine ==> (Your progress in) GW2 stays relevant. Maybe GW3 gets released at some point in the future, it is a MMORPG but players don't like it. ==> GW3 dies and (Your progress in) GW2 stays relevant. Maybe GW3 gets released at some point in the future, it is a MMORPG and you can keep your characters, achievements, mounts and gear ==> (Your progress in) GW2 stays relevant. Maybe GW3 gets released at some point in the future, it is a MMORPG and while you can't keep your characters, but there is an excellent way you can transfer your current gear, achievements, mounts and progression to the new game ==> (Your progress in) GW2 stays relevant. Maybe GW3 gets released at some point in the future, it is a MMORPG and while you can't keep your characters, and most of your progression does not transfer, the GW2 game will get it's own development team that continues to develop expansions and releases for the game into the long future. ==> (Your progress in) GW2 stays relevant. Maybe GW3 gets released at some point in the future, but it is unsuccessful, a financial disaster for ArenaNet. GW1 and GW2 still have a decent market value and AranaNet gets sold to a different publisher. It makes all the sense in the world to keep GW1 online and GW2 updated because it sill makes money to do so. ==> (Your progress in) GW2 stays relevant. Maybe GW3 gets released at some point in the future, it is a MMORPG and you can't keep your characters, your current progress is not meaningfully transferred to the new game, GW2 no longer gets meaningful updates and gets into maintenance mode like GW1 is. ==> Yes, now your current progress is severely degraded. But I don't expect ArenaNet / NCSoft to be so stupid to go this way. TL;DR: There are many scenarios. Most will end up in your current progress being valued as it should. In the end: We just don't know what the future will be. Anet never wanted this information to be out now and are probably as displeased by the NCSoft reveal as many GW2 players are.
  8. Sounds like that ANet wants to let NCSoft do the talking as they were the source of the information and ArenaNet did not want to announce the game just yet.
  9. We have been here before. Anet has been working on their unannounced project(s) for years. We have had the Icebrood Saga debacle with the "no expansions, just Living World Forever" announcement which was taken very badly by the community. Especially after Bjora Marches was finished and they stopped creating new maps for the Saga. But now we're back on course with frequent expansions, frequent new map releases and frequent story releases I'm quite happy about the state of the game. We'll have to see about the GW3 thingie. If it is real, if we can keep our characters, achievements and progression if GW3 is a thing. And ArenaNet is quite a lot bigger now than in 2007 when they started working on GW2. Perhaps they can keep both games active and updated with content.
  10. ArenaNet has been hiring devs with Unreal Engine 4, UE5 and console experience for at least 5 years now. All to make a AAA game called "Unannounced Project"..
  11. Better multi threading support would be great. Especially because developments in CPU technology has primarily evolved to more cores rather than more clock speed. However, I have to acknowledge that I have had two major performance boosts already in the last few years. One when upgrading from Windows 7 to Windows 11 and another one when Guild Wars 2 went from DirectX 9 to DirectX 11 rendering. But I chose not to wait for further game engine improvements and brute forced better performance with a 4.5GHz AMD Ryzen 7950X. But I know this is not an option for everyone.
  12. I think that most players play MMORPG games for long term progression. Players have to feel secure that what they invest their time and energy in will stay with them. World of Warcraft is a good example of a game that keeps player progression yet still gets updated with new content and game engine updates. I think, for MMORPG games this is the best way to build a solid player base. With all new games, like the move from Guild Wars to Guild Wars 2 it is important to have enough progression to transfer over to the new game. For example, characters, gear and achievements. Guild Wars 1 only did this via the Hall of Monuments with a limited selection of items and achievements that would lead to recognition in the new game. I'm glad that at least this was realized and that the prestigious GWAMM title carried over directly. But I prefer gradual improvements of GW2 over a new start with a GW3 game for sake of player, account and character progression.
  13. The curse of putting high-performance chips in a cramped and cooling restricted package called a laptop. Check if it is thermal throttling or running into power limits.
  14. Why are there so many mesmers in these CM groups? I watched a few streams of Teapot attempting this CM strike and they also ran with mostly mesmers as DPS.
  15. ^This. There is no option to transfer characters to other accounts. You can't do it and support can't (or won't) do it. If you want to keep progress on both accounts you will need to keep them both. Otherwise you can attempt requesting a refund for the newly made account. Having multiple accounts has some advantages, like double daily rewards multi boxing, roleplaying as family members, twins etc. and replaying getting account wide rewards like mounts.
  16. Just delete the old file. It will be more efficient as starting with a new .dat will make sure there is no internal .dat fragmentation or space gaps.
  17. Support, under their ruleset, can only help you with items made/bought by mistake that are not unlocked to your account. As far as I know leg armor unfortunately does bind directly to your armory and they cannot unbind it. I think the higerups decided against refunding mistakes in these cases to prevent misuse.
  18. I'm still running this. Easy roation, lots of burning. Lots of fun playing it.
  19. If you want, you can report the exploit to ArenaNet support: (Source)
  20. Was it just your instance or you or was the crash so massive that it affected the entire EU region of the GW2 servers?
  21. NCSoft makes far more profit with Korean mobile games than via PC games in EU/NA. https://kr.ncsoft.com/en/ir/irArchive/earningsRelease.do
  22. Selling runs for in-game currency is not against the rules. As ArenaNet tells us: "buying and selling of runs is acceptable. However, ArenaNet does not officially support buyers or sellers; these activities are done at your own risk." So don't report them unless they are scamming players, promote account sharing or asking real-life payment for the runs. https://help.guildwars2.com/hc/en-us/articles/360025699913-Policy-Buying-and-Selling-Runs
  23. Just selling the stacks of unidentified gear is more convenient and is the best solution if you just want gold. But salvaging unidentified blue and green gear is a good source of luck and then infinite salvage tools come in especially handy. Also, you get a lot of not-unidentified random white, blue and green drops that are most convenient if salvaged with infinite salvage kits. It saves time and that is worth a lot to me.
