  1. I agree - I'd rather have the choice to pay for an expansion rather than a required sub fee to play everything. I also agree, when ANet is ready with all of the details, there needs to be transparency about what we are purchasing, how much it will cost, and how often. Perhaps it's on the way, and they're just not ready to provide that info right now. It seems simple to me. Promises should be the features that can be produced in the time given. Surprises could be a mix of top-secret story twists, and features that are in progress which may or may not be ready in time. We all want to see ANet thrive as a company. It is wise for ANet to continue earning and keeping GW/GW2 player trust, which can be done by using a player-centric philosophy: We need to be assured the money we pay for these mini expansions is being used for that purpose, first and foremost. Responsibly budget funding for new projects without sacrificing your current product. We will cheer your successes! While planning new expansion (+ releases), include something new for all modes - PvE, PvP, and WvW. Recognize elites AND casuals (and everyone between) ARE your player base. Make all items able to be earned in each mode, rather than having to mix and mingle modes. Let us "play the way we want to play". Use the forum, surveys, and beta tests to increase communication and buy-in. GW2 Beta testing with the blue pop-up mini questionnaires were so much fun and made me feel like part of the community! How about offering a Pre-Purchase option that would include: 1) beta access for 1 to 2 weeks, with zero progress retained, 2) ending with a player feedback survey for each content type tested, which 3) rewards 3 Black Lion/Gem Store items of the player's choice AND a special Title which refers to beta testing and adds tiers with each pre-purchase/beta survey.
  2. How will you know if the content doesn't meet your desires if you didn't buy it to see it? It's not like you can return it if you were unhappy with it. Will there be free samples? But you are correct, we can choose not to buy. I'm mentally preparing myself to see that typed in map chat on a regular basis...just like the elites saying "get good or get gone" or "just another f'n casual". Given how much I've played in EoD since it was released, I may not be buying many (or any) of the new expansions. You can bet the micro transactions at the gem store won't be any cheaper. Most people I know are financially struggling, re-prioritizing constantly to be able to afford entertainment, and barely keeping up with real-life expenses. We can't all have a programmer's income. It's been awesome to have GW2 as an affordable outlet. I'm curious to see how many will put extra $$ into it each time, every time. Will this be posted annually in a report of some kind? Perhaps the silver lining will be a more enjoyable crowd remaining in the non-pay locations of the game.
  3. EOD Music - GW2 has such wonderful music. As a musician, I am especially impressed by the efforts to have music played by musicians rather than electronic representations. I admit, however, I'm disappointed with parts of the EOD soundtrack. Specifically, what seems to be the main theme, which features the Eastern version of the oboe. It's played a majority of the time, or it seems like it. Moderation is key - a little bit would be fine, but this is too much. My Western ears are not accustomed the constant dissonance and wavering tones at such high pitches, and I wonder if it is grating to other players as well? I have been playing with my music turned OFF to avoid it, especially at the character select screen. I realize we can choose our own music by going into our system settings. But rather than doing all of that, can we have an option as to which soundtrack (or piece) will play at the character select screen, at minimum? You have the option in the home instance and guild halls, so it seems likely that the code is already written, it just needs to be tweaked. Thanks for considering this.
  4. The Battle For The Jade Sea... First off, it seems like the title doesn't really match the meta. Maybe "The Battle On The Jade Sea"? Secondly, call it what it is...a RAID. Raids aren't for everyone, especially me. I didn't buy the game to get put-down, bullied, or "cancelled" online by people who are "in it to win it". I'm in it to relax, enjoy, and appreciate the artistry that was poured into the scenery & music. I enjoy meeting new people, and for me, PUGs are awesome! I can't believe ANet has turned their back on them like this. Third, I wholeheartedly believe ANet would be wise to allow a secondary way to earn content. I caught a few minutes of a how-to-win video, and was amazed at how different that view of the "meta" is from mine. I saw mechanics on YouTube that I hadn't seen on my screen yet, even after several attempts. 😪 Does ANet beta test the content using "average" internet and PC gear? I highly recommend it. Over this past week I have decided I am no longer interested in earning the Siege Turtle mount. I am less interested in playing End of Dragons content in general. I had been super excited leading up to this, anticipating coming back to Cantha and seeing all of the familiar names and scenery from GW1. It's been a big letdown. I'll probably continue playing the old content, do some fishing, and maybe peek at the new stuff now and then, but instead of earning the siege turtle mount, I plan to explore other MMOs to see if I like them better. I like having "more challenging content" - helps to keep the nasty elite remarks out of my map chat. But had I known content was locked within a RAID for this expansion, I probably would not have purchased it.
  5. How ironic! Some share their opinion that folks should just join a private squad "at any time" to get the event achievements and rewards. But then we read: So, you say we should join a private squad to get our achievements done in the time frame BUT we will be "filtered" based on any whim of another player, any number of times, and possibly every time. By the way, I wonder if MarkoGold is the person who kicked me out of a TM private squad first day, first 30 seconds of the event. Are you THAT guy? If you get your way, and in-game filters are created, I hope they allow peeps to be filtered for having too much li, fractal currency, xp, etc., too. I don't raid. I have zero li. Does that mean I have less access to other content & rewards (eg: TM private squads) than other players? If so, I recommend ANet use this as material for their next GW2 promotional video--I'm sure that would entice fresh, new players (NOT!). And don't bother with the "just start your own squad" solution - I've been in LFG squads that were marked specifically for casuals, beginners, and such. They just get hijacked by so-called elites who join, then filter the party by voting to kick the peeps they don't want in the group. Over the years I've thanked and noted players who are truly elite, helpful, and great leaders. Unfortunately, they seem to be fewer and harder to find these days. However, I am impressed with some great insights I've read here in this thread, so this gives me hope!
  6. Thank you for bringing this up, Metaljaw. You're saying out loud what many others are thinking. This event has been requested and awaited for several years. I was hoping it would be an event where private squads could shine, but yet again, I find myself waiting the two hours for a public squad. I am lucky - I'm on vacation this week. Others are not so lucky. 'Why' private squads are less desirable by some/many of us differs by our interests and personalities. Here's my "why": I like a challenge, but not if the challenge is about dealing with snotty and dismissive people. I can learn - and I certainly appreciate advice. But since GW1 I have detested the "you suck unless you use this build" attitude. Try this on for size - YOU suck if you can't achieve your goals without your awesome, elite build. Perhaps you'll learn something from me?! I don't mind losing and trying again. Especially if the group has a degree of comradery and humility. This experience is part of my reward. I DO mind having toxic comments thrown in my face in-game, and I DO mind being kicked from a group because I don't meet another player's standards. I do enjoy the fashion-wars part of the game, and who doesn't like shinies? I ask you this - is being dumped on by so-called elite players and/or denied in-game rewards part of Anet's grand design for GW2? So after a few tries with the TM private squads, I decided to "flush" that experience down the sewer (where it belongs, in my opinion), and joined some public squads - each time so far has been a fun ride! It will take me a long time to be desperate enough to enter a private squad for TM (and other events). Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. I realize you can't make everyone happy, and it is great that GW2 attracts so many players with different likes and dislikes. But if the content is intended to inspire cooperative game play, but instead creates divisions between players, perhaps more "innovation" is needed.
  7. Please update the Black Lion Exchange Specialist. For example, I received a license as a gift, but I already have all of the mounts for that type. I can not send it to anyone else, because it is account bound on acquire. I would, however, appreciate the ability to exchange it for a different type of mount license. There are other items with limits. For example: bank tabs, which could be exchanged with a similar item - like character inventory slots. This might reduce some of your support ticket requests. Thanks!
  8. April Fool's ideas: For 1 day make all novelty chairs in the form of a toilet; pose characters as "thinker" while holding a plunger. Convert gliders to paper airplanes. :) Mounts could become plush toys. :)
