  2. they arnt doing "their work". At least not as it relates to the game modes we all care about. thats the problem. they have been stating the same things for a very long time as "new things that are coming to pvp/wvw". The real issue is that pvp and wvw dont make the company any money so anything invested in those modes has a poor ROI. Thats why they focus on making the game appealing to new audiences rather than focusing on their existing fan base.

Honestly the fact that it is 496 - 500 despite the fact they had two duos might actually mean it is working pretty well since it managed to balance out individual skill-rating with duo-skill-rating. Yeah, i think your kind of right about that. Would be interesting to know how much the skillrating is raised trough a duo. Or maybe it is not?Also its quite strange that the matchmaking has to do something like this. Would have been better to divide the duos, right? Unless the Skill rating-difference of one or two players were just way to big. So the question should be why these players even had to play in that rating-"class". The matchmaker used to work harder to spread out duo's. However, based on our data, skill rating is generally a better indicator of potential performance than whether someone queued up in a duo. So the matchmaker puts the greatest priority on making sure the average skill rating on each team is as even as possible. It also tries a bit to make sure the standard deviation of skill rating of each team is pretty close. In addition to these, the matchmaker will also do it's best not to put any more than +1 of a class on a team. Though, players can work around that themselves with character swapping. Something we've decided to leave in, based on community vote and because we think it's ok if players/teams who are skilled or knowledgeable enough to recognize bad compositions can resolve that themselves. I've said it many times and I'm sure people still won't believe it, but the match maker has no idea if you have won or lost your previous match. All it knows is your current skill rating, your class, and whether you're in a duo queue or not.Hey man, dont listen to these butt hurt kids who think the game is rigged. they just have no clue how to systematically carry a team. i understand it but theres a level of excecution that i just havent been able to accomplish myself. But i see it. i understand it. and im also way too stuborn to play a class i could do it on XD. but seriously though. the game isnt rigged. i place consistenly, i see a terrible matchup 1 in 5 matches where im like "seriously Anet?" but dude.....it 1 in FIVE! and you guys have done great bringing a level of diversity to gameplay and keeping a decent balance. no its not great... but its decent. im way too drunk to go off and tell mf how it really is so ill just say this. MAKE MOMENTUM. if you cant, .........pick a class that can........if you dont want to, then stfu and be happy losing because you chose to pick one that cant carry. although honestly most of them have at least one build that can carry a team when played properly. peace
  4. depends on what game mode your playing but i would say the most useful part of steal isnt the gap closer. thief has plenty of those already on multiple weapon sets. its the boon rip, interuppt, damage from mug, damage from PI, vigor, healing, poison, inniative gain, endurance gain, stolen skill (in some cases), and fury/might/swift that change the course of a fight. ..........and now its unblockable XD

  6. it absolutely was. but if your only looking at the disadvantage of the range nerf like alot of poeple are doing its hard to see the potential of what an unblockable steal means XD
  7. Most of those people would be idiots that don't understand the class and how it plays. They certainly don't know what a nerf the bugs in Trickery synergies have caused. the bugs have been fixed* "how it plays" is now different. trying to play it like it played pre patch isnt going to work. You need to change your playstyle to keep up. also, if you manage to change your playstyle youll find that the unblockable interupt and damage/heal from mug and PI, more than makes up for its lack of range. im thinking of herald shield, guardians block heal, warriors shield block, daredevils block skill, rangers sword block, engi's shield block etc etc. theyre all channeled block skills that are usually pretty important in the ability of the class to stay alive. plus you will land steal pretty much always so long as its not evaded or used during and invuln frame.....and we all know how important it is to land steal........ at the end of the day i consider this a buff all trait changes considered and bugs now fixed. although it is freaking annoying to not be able to catch someone because they are out of range at 700 range face palm but im sure wel all get used to it and adjust accordingly.
  8. If the Anet devs are listening, please dont make a condi focused spec. people hate on condi thieves enough as it is. Honestly its annoying to fight against. Please either make a support focused spec or give thief the kit to fight out of stealth without adding a bunch of evades and invulns. Personally id like to see something like this: The Mercenary:weapon: greatsword, skills with a block, counter and unblockable, maybe even a dash/moving slash for mobilitytraitline focused on stab, larger health pool, protection, boon riping then sharing and CC. there is lore behind this from history where mercenarys were paid to wield greatswords to chop the ends of spears and pikes in large formations. they were particularaly effective against heavily armored opponents as the wieght of the sword could dent armor where regular swords were innefective against plate. the build could be focused on killing the tanky support builds in pvp and fill the role of bruiser. the damage doesnt need to be crazy. something on par with sword core thief that has skills meant for removing the tankyness of support guards and ignoring blocks etc while staying alive outside of stealth. As i see it, elite specs are Anets attempt to make one class play like another. this would be my interpretation of making a thief play like a warrior. i think it would be much more fun to fight against than a condi spec thief with high mobility and stealth.
