  1. What we know via this graph is that Blackgate spends more man hours in WvW than any other server, and that due to the population caps placed on servers, no other server has the chance to stack to the level of activity that Blackgate enjoys. Also when it was posted there was 11 full servers, with only BG, YB, & JQ full on NA. Most of the bars even close in size to BG are in EU
  2. That is exactly it, none of the strong fight guilds are particularly worried about mega alliances because they'll farm the ktrain blob as is tradition & VERY few actually still care about winning a week beyond manipulating their tier to get other fights. For the most part if the fight focused guilds get in alliances it'll be so that their more active members have people to run with on their off nights. They've pretty much self limited their rosters to be in the 20-30 range to get fights for years now, they're unlikely to start blobbing it up to PPT just because their old server got deleted.
  3. I hope you folks at Anet realise how excited people are for changes in Wvw with this many posts
  4. Have you considered the overall size for the 8 week world? Would it be more or less the same in each concurrent match or some more aimed at more activity than others? Like where on the server activity graph you linked earlier would the target size be?
  5. ^ best post in this thread so far
  6. You will see 4 timezone alliances compete for the top tier with 3 timezone alliances being in the next tier on down to one timezone alliances in the bottom tier. The good thing is that unlike servers being locked, alliances will have the opportunity to recruit to fill their coverage gaps. The other good thing is that the players that do return won't overstack an already overstacked side. The bad is that the alliance might have to kick some guilds out to make room for the new recruits to fill coverage gaps. The other bad is that there will probably still be matches, particularly in lower tiers, where alliances have little or no coverage and can't get players to fill the gaps. I think you're greatly overestimating the size of each alliance relative to the overall 8 week world. There is no reason for Anet to allow Alliances to be so large that they can manipulate the matchups
  7. So there is a pile of people in this thread worrying about "top tier alliances", why do you even think there will be anything like tiers? We'll just get a matchup & that's it, there will be no relationship between the different matchups & the sides will be shuffled before the next match starts. So many people that have left for other games are excited for this, there are piles of games out there that have slightly different versions of open world PvE & raids but WvW really sets this game apart. Hopefully we'll see enough support to make a real competitive scene out of it.
  8. this is the kind of bold move WvW needs, I hope this happens sooner rather than later
