  1. So far they don't seem to have a problem. Also I am always kinda amused by the "I won't give you money unless you do what I want" people. I mean technically I could say, that I won't give them any more money if they don't give us, I don't know, Horse skins? That would of course completly omit the fact, that I havn't bought anything in the gemstor for the last 4-5 years. Or that I still bought EoD, despite telling myself that I won't, because I assumed that I would hate Fishing, Skiffs, Turtle and Cantha. Pretty much everything they were advertising. And yes, turned out I do hate Fishing, Skiffs and Turtle and I still think another location would have been better than Cantha. But all-in-all I am pretty happy with the expansion. Also kinda got off-topic there... Sorry for the rambling, time to go to bed
  2. I still think, that difficulty isn't the problem. The problem is that you don't get anything for spending 2h on a meta when you fail it. I am pretty sure, that people wouldn't be as upset about this whole thing if they would still get a decent reward for spending their time on this map.
  3. Your Screen also gets an effect around the edges. I am not sure though if this effect is dependant on your graphics settings. I never look for a number above my head. I usually notice that "I have been chosen" because the edge of my screen turns orange. (At least I think it was orange). Same on the Aetherblade Strike. I am not looking for lightning above me. Instead I am looking out for a blue border around my screen.
  4. I am sure the next expansion will be about some mythical creature that has never been seen in Tyria before. Let's see, expansions are about every 4 years. So what is in 4 years? 2026. What is 2026? the year of the Horse. GUILD WARS 2: RISE OF THE HORSE Confirmed!
  5. That abomination is not to be spoken about. By now I have given up hope to ever see a horse skin in game. Kirin is probably the next best thing to hope for.
  6. You just discovered the difference between incentivizing people to try a game mode once in a while and forcing people to grind a game mode they usually don't play. One is perfectly good game design, the other one is probably what the guy in the video was talking about. I mean we are talking about 2-4 days in WvW for Gift of Battle and several weeks, if not months for rank 4000.
  7. Usually how the reward track works, is that you only get participation by doing events and loose it again over time if you don't do them. The idea would be to get rid of the buff and couple it to the reward track. Something else that might help would be to immediatly start the escorts as soon as all three regions reach "high", so there is no need to "wait around" until the meta truly starts.
  8. I think the wipe to "simple" mechanics is the problem. Though there have been plenty tutorials in the EoD Story. There was even an entire mission (That I still wish I could have skipped) that was just a tutorial on CC damage, blocking and evading. So I wouldn't really say that there is a lack of a tutorial in the game. My Successrate is I think 6/9 (5/6 after the nerf) with mostly random people.
  9. I think people get way to stuck up about the "need for high dps" at this meta. I think someone mentioned already that this meta needs an average dps of about 7k. Taking all the damage buffs into account that is more than achievable for the average player. Most people can probably reach this by just auto-attacking. But you know what massivly hurts dps? Half of the people dying to wave attack or some people staying on Soo-Won when her tail is up. You can even increase DPS by quite a bit if your break her CC-Bar. These are all things that you were taught during the Seitung Province Story. I am also pretty sure, that with sime time people will get used to it and the meta gets easier. The problem is, to keep it alive until this happens the rewards for participating in a failed attempt need to be increased by a lot. EDIT: I also want to add, that I did this meta through the help of the LFG with mostly random people and without the need to sort people into groups with alac/quick. We nearly always managed it with ~1 minute to spare.
  10. This is pretty much what I also think. The difficulty is fine. And no, there don't have to be rewards from this specific event when it fails, but the distribution of the rewards across the entire meta can be changed. Give the preparation phase a participation tracker like in Drizzlewood and add some chests after each event of the pre-events, also like in Drizzlewood (north). This way you also get rewarded for your time spent even if the event fails. Spending ~2h on a meta and getting nothing return is just bad design and badly hurts it's replayability.
  11. I don't know. I have been doing this meta quite a few times recently. We just had a commander putting people into 3 groups for the split phases. No sorting by alac/quick dps. Also we didn't have any requirements for joining the squad. So I dare say that we got "the average player" into the map. There was only one thing we did: When creating the squad we were looking for a fresh map (checking the south waypoint if it doesn't have any progress). This way we made sure that everyone on the map was also participating in the meta. So far I have been successful nearly every time with this squad of average LFG players. We even managed to salvage a run where we failed at killing the 3 mini bosses at the same time. However I do agree that this meta is badly designed. I don't think they should tweak the difficulty of the final fight. That one seems to be tuned in pretty good in my opinion. What should be changed is the reward structure. It can't be that 90% of the reward are coming from killing the final boss and I can whole heartedly understand that people are upset about spending 1h+ on a map and getting nothing from it. In my opinion, during the preparation phase you should also have a participation track like in Drizzlewood, so you regularly get some rewards from participating in the events. Furthermore during the escorts I would add some small chests after every event. This way, even if you fail the final event, your time spent in the map hasn't been for nothing.
